NHS Fife tries to silence nurse

Hoardasurass · 13/10/2024 09:36

So as has been mentioned on threads about the Darlington nurses a nurse is sueing NHS Fife over its trans staff policy.
The poor nurse was forced to get changed infront of a man in the female changing facilities, when she complained about it she was 1st told to change in a cupboard if she didn't like it, then they tried to bully her into swapping shifts so she didn't work with the man in question (she wouldn't), then they wanted her to move hospital (again she refused) so then they suspended her without pay for months until her solicitor got involved and now they are trying to gag her by insisting that the court case (starts in February) must be held in secret (I wonder why) and will be in crt next month asking to restrict reporting on the case.

This case is really important in Scotland because the trans staff policy that's going on trial in this case is the Scottish government's own policy used in all public sector organisations in Scotland and works on self id. So when this case is won it will finally kill the Scottish government's self id policy in all public bodies

The left hand margin with names and chat has frozen so I can't scroll down to messages or other names.
Anyone else or is it just me?

Signalbox · 03/02/2025 12:05

I've hooked up to headphones now and it's a bit better with the sound going direct into my ears.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 12:07

It's still working ok for me, Fanny.

Mine too. Perhaps they've blocked the messages to stop people commenting.

FannyCann · 03/02/2025 12:08

Bother. I fiddled with settings and have managed to log myself out.

Back in the waiting room.

So presumably when Dr Upton turns up to give evidence he's going to be giving his best lady performance for the judges benefit.

Signalbox · 03/02/2025 12:12

Interesting we can see the bundle docs referred to on the computer screen of the lady on the left of the screen.

BonfireLady · 03/02/2025 12:13

Peregrina · 03/02/2025 11:57

Could someone explain what adding to the bundle means?

With luck, a Robin will fly into this thread to do so 🙃

(Ps I have scrolled down and seen that you actually have some sensible answers to your question. I just couldn't resist my sarcastic one, but the sarcasm is generic - it's not aimed at you. It refers to a previous hearing.)

Signalbox · 03/02/2025 12:15

Sound is getting worse.

Beth must be a very ladylike lady. The tribunal said words to the effects that you couldn’t think Dr Beth wasn’t a lady. I expect an actual woman would be chided if they said that was ridiculous. What would an actual woman know about ladies? Men (and those who prioritise the wishes of men) know better.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 12:18

Lots of comments about the sound quality, which haven't been addressed by the clerk.

Signalbox · 03/02/2025 12:19

Presumably somebody will have contacted the court to ask them to move the mic closer to the witness.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 12:20

The clerk will sort it out during the break, he says.

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 03/02/2025 12:21

I didn't hear what SP said when asked about how she perceived Upton (other than male). Did she mention hip to shoulder ratio? Because that's always a dead giveaway, hands etc. Problem is men are less good at seeing this / seem to be blinded by lippy and a dress and the Judge is male.

It shouldn't matter what someone wears, it matters what sex their body is.

It's beyond belief we're having this argument about a medical setting.

Are medics supposed to treat people based on their inner feelings rather than reality now, too?

nauticant · 03/02/2025 12:22

Uh-oh. Bundle confusion.

She mentioned his Adam's Apple.
I wrote it down.

It’s a strange world, and you’d be surprised that the medical world is not sticking to medical science.

A gynaecologist in Pau France has been suspended because he turned away a trans identified male who wished to consult with him. He stated that his expertise was in the female anatomy but offered to refer the trans identified male to someone who had the appropriate expertise.

bumbledenbarsk · 03/02/2025 12:33

Reading the testimony on tribunal tweets I'm feeling a horrible gut reaction and empathizing hugely with these nurses having to wait outside whilst this individual uses their facilities and space. I wonder if the (male) judge with be feeling any of the same feelings?

bumbledenbarsk · 03/02/2025 12:33

will be

nauticant · 03/02/2025 12:36

FFS, the microphone was moved a very small amount and the sound audibility has improved considerably.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 12:39

Who could have possibly predicted this??

HarpQuartet · 03/02/2025 12:39

@themostspecialelfintheworkshop I haven't been making notes, but from memory she also mentioned Dr Upton's receding hairline and said Dr Upton was taller than the average woman, with big hands and big feet.

nauticant · 03/02/2025 12:40

The sound issue mainly seems to be down to the microphones. They need to be near the speakers and the speakers need to speak directly at them.

Cailleach1 · 03/02/2025 12:43

He even had a receding hairline in his graduation photo. Some men do start going bald quite early. Has the beard gone, I wonder? I presume the outward and cosmetic presentation will be carefully curated for the tribunal.
