"We, the undersigned, are deeply disturbed that populist messages particularly targeting Muslims have gained traction among significant numbers of social media accounts associated with the gender critical movement."

Statement on the gender critical movement and the far right

Since the horrific murders in Southport on 29 July, the UK has seen an alarming outbreak of far-right violence, with organised gangs targeting mosques and setting fire to asylum hostels. It is clea…

Stop putting words into my mouth. I said that some people do care very much who they politically align with, in response to you saying that some people don't care.

But it's the substance of the question.

What the hell does that even mean?

Having the opinion that gender ideology is dangerous bollocks does not make people aligned.

Even working together for a concrete political end doesn't, unless you think my examples are of people being "politically aligned".

There are people of all viewpoints that are against gender ideology.

The idea that it is uniquely "far right" comes from TRAs. Luckily, they are losing much of their credibility.

Except these idiots who wrote this letter are actually now creating that same association.

Their problem, the genuine ones, is they think wanting to act against gender ideology and supporting that politically is leftist, rather than pan-political. This is because they are too narrow minded to realize that non-leftists can also believe true things about important issues.

The vast majority of human beings believe a lot of the same basic ideas, because they are just real. They work together in communities even with people they disagree with because that's how communities function. We all go to repair the levy when the floods come.

It's like they would rather let the country flood than pile on some sandbags with a bastard.

The CPS are gloating about justice for the 1000 plus people arrested without any actual trials. Or investigation. They are offering such lengthy detentions prior to investigations or even trials that people are pleading guilty just to get their prison terms over and done with.

The UK is utterly fucked. The Far Left are handing the Far Right a gift horse and the backlash is going to be huge.

I agree. It feels like they've thumbed their nose at the "two tier policing" accusation and merrily doubled down.

If the defendants are not guilty, then they should take their solicitors advice and fight their case.
To paraphrase others, on other issues, you lost, get over it. The tory misrule for the last 14 years is what had allowed the mess to reach boiling point in deprived areas, along with some who have something to gain from causing riots in those deprived areas.
The current government were voted in six weeks ago, with a large majority, those who are unhappy about that will have to exercise their democratic rights and hope that they can change the government at the next General election.

What do you mean 'you lost'?

You think I'm right wing because I point out that right wingers are allowed opinions too? I'm old school left wing, when we used to say 'i disagree with you but I fight to the death for your right to say it'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/08/2024 23:52

The justice system is fucked. The court backlogs are the worst they've ever been and growing. Prisons are at 99% capacity and there have been emergency measures put in place for several months now, before the general election in fact. The probation service is operating at about a 30% shortfall of staff. The CPS is in chaos.

Yes. So do you understand what it looks like when they are prosecuting a specific group of people for fairly minor offences and giving them prison sentences looks like to many people in this country?

When they've ignored burglaries, sexual assaults, muggings, arson etc?

Dumbo12 · 17/08/2024 23:53

So far the people sent to prison have:-been present at riots, with police personnel injured, a hotel set on fire with people in it, shops and businesses broken into and looted, or they have incited others to set fire to buildings with people in them, have knowingly lied about who killed the children in Southport, have travelled to other locations to I incite violence.

It is either 'dance the Macarena with them' or 'Jail them'. Two tier indeed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/08/2024 23:58

How do you get out of being present at a riot if one happens?

have knowingly lied about who killed the children in Southport

How do you know if they knowingly lied?

Setting fire to businesses, shops and hostels, threatening and attaching migrant minorities, damaging property with intent to scare the people inside are not 'fairly minor offences'.

Trumpetoftheswan2 · 18/08/2024 00:00

There was clear intent, on more than one occasion, to burn buildings with people in them to either kill them in the building, or cause them to leave into the baying mob.

That anyone can call those minor offences is unbelievable.
The other aspect is the way in which riots were "rumoured" in advance. If that is not a form of domestic terrorism, then what would you call it?

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:05

The people in jail pled guilty, no investigations, no trials and told this would take longer than the investigations or trials.

Doesn't mean they ever did the things they were accused of. What with there being no investigations or trials like.

This is all just to threaten and silence everyone. Surely people can see this?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2024 00:05

They're not the minor offences I'm talking about. I'm talking about social media posts and just being present.

What do you think caused all those people to plead guilty, if they were innocent?

They're the working class plebs. That Labour wanker who said he wanted to slit people's throats on video has obviously pleaded not guilty.

Are you unable to read the first sentences in posts? It's right there.

So you believe that all the defence solicitors are also involved in this conspiracy?

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:10

Those guilty postmasters. Why did they pay back the money if they hadn't stolen it? Eh, eh?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2024 00:11

What do you think caused all those people to plead guilty, if they were innocent?

The threat of having to spend a long time on remand, and distrust in the justice system to treat them fairly. You seem really quite clueless about what the objections are here.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2024 00:11

The Birmingham 6. Well they must have done it, the police and court said so and they confessed.

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:10

Total false equivalence eh, eh. Oh by the way that happened under the tory government, May I remind you again, the current government were elected in six weeks ago.

Dumbo12 · 18/08/2024 00:10

The conspiracy that the CPS are gloating about, with their declaration of justice for 1000 people with no trials or investigations?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/08/2024 00:14

So you believe that all the defence solicitors are also involved in this conspiracy?

They won't exactly have had top tier legal representation. They're working class people, they mostly aren't going to have a brief on speed dial.

The defence solicitors appointed will have laid out the options.

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:15

Dumbo12 · 18/08/2024 00:12

Who was in charge of the CPS during the Postmaster period again?

I mean, Jesus wept.

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:15

It's the same fucking bloke. False equivalence indeed.

Dumbo12 · 18/08/2024 00:16

AlisonDonut · 18/08/2024 00:13

I mean, Jesus wept.

The post office conducted those prosecutions, not the CPS.
