Edited to add: I want a whinge. I have lost my bread-making mojo. I used to make bloody good bread, though I say it myself, but the more recent attempts have come out like cobbles.

It's probably down to the weather in some way. Or the flour.

Otoh I made my usual oatbran-wholewheat flatbreads today, they didn't come out right but that's because I somehow used the wrong oven setting.
(It's a recipe of DHs devising which causes him a less bad sugar spike than anything else he can make a sandwich out of)

DH makes all the bread in this house. It's always fine. As in, I don't have to do it!

Well, I have nothing of interest to tell you today ( I cleaned the kitchen and steamed the floor....told you!) so I shall wave cheerfully at you all. 👋

I had another go yesterday, the result was still a but cobble-like but definitely edible.

Hopefully the evil eye is wearing off...

I think I'm going to sit outside under the awning with tea and a fresh scone, watching the clouds round Peak Woo, split by the occasional damp but happy woman on the zipwire, and the rain pattering down gently. The trout are rising in the stream, the cat is trying to steal my cream (alright just a dab, you know you're lactose intolerant) and there are dragon and damselflies zipping around. I've just seen a kingfisher flash past and the grey wagtail and the dipper are trying to out bob each other.

I made a perfectly satisfactory wholemeal loaf in the bread maker yesterday despite it getting turned off at some point before it was baked.

I know the bluestocking grounds contain several microclimates but are you sure you're not just catching a sprinkler, @lcakethereforeIam ? because I'm sitting out in clear sun with just a few small puffy white clouds.

I must be in the damp bit pocket universe.

I also steamed my floors yesterday. And came down to not 1, but 2 dead mice right in the middle of the kitchen this morning.

Can I swap my cat for a cuddly wombat and a nice glass of wine, please?

Ooh I forgot one exciting thing. It's the national fireworks championships tonight and tomorrow.
I expect we can see them from the Bluestocking.

I bet wombats shit everywhere. They have that look about them.

Aren't wombats the ones with the cuboid poop? At least it won't roll under the cupboards.

I looked at some pictures of wombat poop, they're very reminiscent of stock cubes. Imagine an artisan oxo cube.

Have i bought my gin into the library (and interesting but random) talks room. I just know that one day this piece of information will become useful.
