The original premises are getting crowded, we need to expand.

Welcome all women, and well behaved animals.

Silly me, that should've been a quokka.

That's better.

I really hope this is the ward I'm on tomorrow! It's all worth it if I get my own personal support quokka.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 27/08/2024 19:32

I really hope you do, Boily dear.

I love your AI pictures.

Oh wow....I really, REALLY want gerbil nurses now.

Just so long as the patients aren't guinea pigs.

All the best @Boiledbeetle in the meantime, fill your boots with Bluestocking Tunnocks.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2024 19:36

FlowersFlowersFlowersFlowersFlowersto all who need them, be it for medical woes or otherwise.

I'm probably massively tempting fate, I've never had a hospital stay other than when dd was born. Although that was probably at the extreme decibel scale, I'm sending a courier seagull with comfortable earplugs.

Apart from work (too much to do, too few to do it) my only complaint today is that the Bad Bread Pixies paid me a visit, causing me to pick up the open bag of oatbran rather than the one of wholemeal flour when making a loaf today. Into the breadmaker and topped up to the right weight from a new bag of wholemeal, I didn't notice till I was putting away two opened bags of wholemeal and throwing out an empty oatmeal bag. So I made a brick...actually, it tastes quite nice but I'd better not share it with those of you with more delicate dispositions.

Thank you! Remember, these are the sensible ones.😂

I've tried to do you & me, but what it's coming up with is bonkers.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2024 19:38

Just so long as the patients aren't guinea pigs.

The first shift of nurses looked more like Guinea pigs than gerbils to me tbh.

My insides have not taken too well to lots of travel and rich food. I have a form of lymphocytic colitis, which is Such Fun - so I am empathising with everyone else suffering similarly and bigly.

We have just got home, and I can’t wait to go to sleep,in my own bed. Dh has been a star, looking after me and doing all the driving, and it was (mainly) lovely to see family, but I do like my home. It has all my books and yarn in it, and Outside is too people-y.

At home with the Geniuses (Mr Genius is outside the door, looking anxious for Mrs G & carrying a tray of tea & Tunnocks).

I think some of them may be rats.

I'm just out of hospital myself - what a rough time at the Bluestocking! It's more Whitestocking - you know those ones they put on you in hospital to stop you from getting DVT or something. Total glamour bypass🙄 Not to mention the revealing gowns😄
Sláinte, good health to all.

I don't know - you look pretty glamorous to me, Marie.

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2024 19:54

gosh. Get welly very soon, all of you.

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2024 19:58

I spent the early part of today at a funeral and was very disconcerted to find that as I zoomed down the motorway on my way home I was being followed by a hearse with a coffin in it. I presume the box was empty, but the big black vehicle did not want to be shaken off, and I started to get absurdly bothered by it, it was so like an incident at the start of a slightly sub-par X-File episode. Luckily I eventually turned off onto a normal road and lost it.

So anyway, everyone get welly, okay.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 27/08/2024 20:02

That's a great start to a story, @DeanElderberry ! One day we will all sit around the fire in the Bluestocking & tell each other stories that start with that.

Sorry to hear you've lost someone, & I hope you feel OK now.💐

FuzzyPuffling · 27/08/2024 20:08

Part of my family are in the funeral business and for many years they used to host a Bonfire Night party where Guy had his own coffin. And we used other spare coffins as seating round the fire.

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2024 20:17

It was my last aunt (a 'married my mother's brother' sort of aunt) and after the Mass my generation were all pointing out to each other that it was going to be us next. I was a little concerned that an over-zealous undertaker might have felt 'why wait?'.

Back on the safe side of the Shannon now, I'm sure demon funeral directors can't cross water.

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2024 20:20

but drat, just checked RIP.ie and a much-younger-than-me person (not a family member) has also made the last journey, so there'll be another funeral tomorrow.

MarieDeGournay · 27/08/2024 21:22

ifIwerenotanandroid · 27/08/2024 19:51

I don't know - you look pretty glamorous to me, Marie.

Uncanny! It's like looking in a mirror🙃
Of course, back in my day in the 16th century, we all wore white stockings like that, height of fashion.
Our gowns had closed backs though - and a bit more at the front too, if you don't mind, ifIwerenotanandroid, I was admired for my brains, not ..other attributes!
So I went in for Wet Headscarf competitions, not Wet T-Shirt ones.😄

Wishing us all better health, and condolences to Dean on the friends who have gone 'ar shlí na fírinne'.

Amazing!

EdithStourton · 28/08/2024 06:24

Good luck for today, @Boiledbeetle
Get welly to Marie and SDT
Condolences to Dean

I hope I've not forgotten anyone.

I was almost late for the last funeral I attended. It was only just up the road, but DH broke a shoelace which caused a delay and saw us scuttling in with about 15 secs to spare.

Chersfrozenface · 28/08/2024 09:48

I'm missing a funeral today, a fairly close relative. Second funeral I've missed recently die to health and logistics combined.

Still, I'm not in hospital. Very best wishes and get welly soon to all who are and have been. Sending you virtual support quokkas.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 28/08/2024 09:52

Best wishes to all who are unwell and/or in hospital, I hope you all return well and rested soon 💐💐💐

MarieDeGournay · 28/08/2024 09:59

Thank you all for the get welly wishes, I for one am out of hospital and doing fine. Well - sorry, welly - on the way to being 'grand' again. So I'm happy to share the get welly wishes I don't need so much now with those who do.
It's been lovely to get all those good wishes, thank you.

SoFlowers all round, and hopefully we can get back to Wine all round again at the Bluestocking soon.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 28/08/2024 10:16

So Flowers all round, and hopefully we can get back to Wine all round again at the Bluestocking soon.

Sorry but no. I snuck in because someone left the door open and I haven't left "hic". The liquids are now rather low, the crisp box is empty. The floor is rather nice though 😴

FuzzyPuffling · 28/08/2024 10:46

I'm fed up with adulting this week ( wonky eyes, car needing the garage, cat flea treatments....) so I'm joining @PurpleSparkledPixie in the bar. Any plain crisps left- don't like funny flavours?

( Why does my autocorrect change " crisps" to " crisis"? What does it know? )

quantumbutterfly · 28/08/2024 10:59

autocarrot recognises comfort food?
