"The stage production, which is set to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, has already caused outrage over a working title which labelled the gender-critical Harry Potter author a c----."

"The production is yet to cast any of the female roles, including that of Rowling herself."

"Actors have been found for male leads, who will portray Harry Potter cast members Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe."

Good grief. Well, colour me rainbow - I am a changed ciswoman. Thank you to Owl and Fox for the, err, enlightenment.

I think Eddie should play all the female parts in the play, and all the male parts. It would be amazing.

I think we should have a FWR Board outing to see that, if it happened.

Can't afford Edinburgh in Festival season.

But since this is the World Premiere, we can look forward, I'm sure, to the play going on a tour of British venues.

We could get a charabanc together for one of the dates somewhere central, like Birmingham.

DontThinkJustDo · 17/06/2024 13:35

So - they are looking for a transwoman to play JKR not an actual woman and they STILL can't fill the role. It's a mystery for sure.

WallaceinAnderland · 17/06/2024 16:04

IW has offered to do it.

Chersfrozenface · 17/06/2024 16:12

I wonder whether the author and producer will take up IW's offer.

Open your World Premiere with a lead actor (gender neutral term) who has the acting chops of a Wayfair console table. Marvellous idea.

LonginesPrime · 17/06/2024 16:14

I wonder if IW has thought this through - if they say no thanks, they're essentially saying "we have asked everyone we can think of and we literally have no-one else, but we still don't want you" - oof.

That would be quite the throw of shade, wouldn't it?

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 17/06/2024 16:17

I'm interested to see if IW's offer is taken up or quietly ignored.

AstonUniRank · 17/06/2024 16:30

Oh, my.

SirChenjins · 17/06/2024 16:31

Oh dear - either way, Mr Willy is going to come out of this looking worse than they already do 😂

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 17/06/2024 16:42

‘Indie live arts producer/writer/director/stripper with Civil Disobedience. Some know him as boylesque piss-performance artist Jason Waterfalls'.

I really hope that doesn’t mean what I think it does. Because that beats playing the piano with your willy, hands down.

He’s not that bloke who ‘demonstrated 🙀’ with his bottle on some headquarter’s doorstep, is he?

BettyFilous · 13/06/2024 18:39

It could be a new post modern panto classic. Cast to JKR: “you’re an awful transphobe.” Terfy audience members: “OH NO SHE ISN’T!” And so on.

Everyone..." oh yes she is ...."

YES SHE IS

I hope this production happens. I’m going every night and cheering them on

I was stroking a kitten when I read that, & laughed so loudly that it made him jump.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 18/06/2024 08:35

What happened with the deletions last night? Sounds like I missed a laugh.

BezMills · 18/06/2024 08:59

I quoted India Willoughby and apparently IW's own words are super offensive and transphobick

NitroNine · 18/06/2024 09:00

@Vegemiteandhoneyontoast
If there isn’t already an archived version the [archive] site makes one - you get the screen full of code like you’re in a 1990s DT class writing a programme to run a washing machine^. Or something slightly less niche. Which is usually fairly quick, but if there’s lots of traffic can take a few minutes. It does all the work & can work away in one tab while you do something else in another. I’ll always post an archived version if one’s needed & several other posters do the same; but it may be faster to archive & post than wait for us 😊

^ Yes, of all things, that’s what my girls’ school landed on for coding. We made & mounted a disc that could spin & then programmed a chip to run a full cycle (in significantly less time…). Big hit with parents at Open Day 🤨

I don't think it's allowed to mention a kitten without posting a pic?

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 18/06/2024 09:37

TWETMIRF has told me what was said and I've had my belated guffaw. Shame it was deleted, it was a worthy comment.

Fair point. Here’s my current foster boy, aged 6 months 😻
