I thought I had enough notebooks, but I really need to get a new moleskine.

Chersfrozenface · 06/06/2024 07:55

The whining "author" even puts in a link to the Moleskine Harry Potter notebooks, to make it easier to click through and buy them.

Snerk.

WindsurfingDreams · 06/06/2024 07:56

Oooh I keep meaning to buy one of their Harry Potter notebooks!

That is quite the tantrum!

DrJump · 06/06/2024 08:02

It's not to early for Christmas presents is it ;)

EdithStourton · 06/06/2024 08:18

DD is very keen on HP.
And it is never too early to shop for Christmas.

DoreenonTill8 · 06/06/2024 08:23

That's a parody isn't it? Or a sales technique?
"Heres a company I don't support, here's how to buy their products" ?!

In this case I'm inclined to alter the well-known adage to "Never attribute to promotion that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".

Ha ha! I made that very point, after another pointing out that she's rather silly and now she's blocked me!

AlisonDonut · 06/06/2024 09:01

The whingeing author is 'trans' and 'gay' and 'a lesbian' and their book is called 'We the Parasites'.

This has got to be a parody right?

RedToothBrush · 06/06/2024 09:04

Wwaaaaaaaa everyone should market around ME not around an extremely popular franchise.

I will sell more moleskins than Harry Potter cos I am special and deserving of attention. Me. Me. Me. Me. Moi.

Got to be parody

WomanXXWorldsOriginsofMothersofAllNations · 06/06/2024 09:07

Ha!

I am a customer of 20 years who no longer purchase any products from you if you produce notebooks that give profits to someone who openly uses hate speech under EU law. Will you pull your Harry Potter line or choose to alienate all your queer customers?

https://nitter.poast.org/saintsoftness/status/1798429730892607764#m

You can answer here or I can go to a national media outlet and ask you there in print. Your call.

Grin

Then they looped in PinkNews….. bahahaha ‘national media outlet’. I’m fucking dying!

https://nitter.poast.org/saintsoftness/status/1798441880935616940#m

Hey @ PinkNews want to find out why this notebook company is selling transphobia profiting merch for Pride? Let’s ask them in print and get their CEO on record!

Didn't get quite the response they were after…

I’d like to know why you are appealing to the authority of an incest advocacy organisation.

Moleskine sales will shoot up...
Helleofabore · 06/06/2024 09:08

Holey Moley!

So…. Not a struggling writer then if all their books were written on Moleskin. I mean, they had to start with a Moleskin and not a spiral bound from Tesco?

AndiOliversGlasses · 06/06/2024 09:09

Oh wow that is hilariously self-important.

Helleofabore · 06/06/2024 09:10

Those notebooks are gorgeous though.

OzziePopPop · 06/06/2024 09:11

Oooh and they’re so pretty… notebooks and pens for all (it’s not too early to buy for Christmas, 🎄 right?!?)

ElephantsDontReadFantasy · 06/06/2024 09:12

I start my Xmas shopping in the Jan sales sometimes…never too early!

Chersfrozenface · 06/06/2024 09:16

This has got to be a parody right?

"Trans", "gay", "lesbian' - there's a portmanteau word for that.

And "We the Parasites" is about criticism, so could be considered a fair enough viewpoint.

"Author''s' website

I've a sneaking suspicion this may be the same person

(Cracking professional academic photo. BTW)

HoneyButterPopcorn · 06/06/2024 09:18

What did I get deleted for? Because I dissed ‘the new pride flag’? Was that it?

sheesh…

Helleofabore · 06/06/2024 09:25

moleskin should probably consider that an angry TERF might buy one Harry Potter notebook to fund hate, but that writers are often customers for life. We spend a lot over a long period. And your brand is built on writerly identity. If we stop buying your product, you lose that.

This tweet is great. Apparently, writers are the only lifetime customers of notebooks.

How many writers use paper except to plan these days? The ones I know write on laptops or desktops. This is like someone caught in a fantasy of ‘living the aesthetic’.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 06/06/2024 09:27

My nieces and nephews (and I’m talking kids and adults) love HP stuff. I always get them things for Christmas. On my list.

MarieDeGournay · 06/06/2024 09:28

... or do I have to switch to Leuchtturm? has now become my go-to reprisal threat: 'Are you going to stop throwing litter into my garden/ramming me with your shopping trolley/denying my right to single-sex spaces or... or do I have to switch to Leuchtturm?'
That'll scare them, eh?
Off to google Leuchtturm now...

sweetsardineface · 06/06/2024 09:32

So happy to see this. I’m going to buy several today.
