Yay for MN sending me off to look at the dictionary (again)- three words I didn't know before, and do now! Three new things for today.
However, I will admit to a temporary pause for thought when I read Miriam Webster's:
'carucage
noun
plural-s
old English law
: a tax on every plow or plowland'
as a tax on every pillow 😂
I haven't yet worked out how they are pronounced eg. is it car-you-cage or car-uh-cage or car-oo-cahje or what? @MarieDeGournay , can you help? Now that I've learnt them, I might need to drop words like these into random (spoken) conversations some day and won't want to show my ignorance. Thanks. 😀
