yes

I have just tested on a thread with a namechange and no message!

How odd.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/04/2024 15:05

I just thanked your PP& got the message again.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/04/2024 15:11

Thanks are just data which is stored somewhere, somehow... thinking of other social media where following & liking the wrong person brings some users out in hives.

DrSpartacular · 26/04/2024 15:12

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/04/2024 15:05

I just thanked your PP& got the message again.

Might be worth getting a screenshot and asking on site stuff. It would make sense if it was a reminder that your thanks is coming from a different username to the one used on thread, but if it's not it's a bit pointless!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/04/2024 15:15

I will. I've also had a weird thing where if I visit new page, it goes to the bottom of the page & stays there. It works if it's the first page of a thread, though.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/04/2024 15:17

I've had that. I thought it was because I'd clicked to write a post then changed my mind. Sometimes I find posts I'd written but not posted for whatever reason.

we must first destroy the trap wherein regular women set up standards by which they accept or reject us .

Never a good starting place when one’s identity rests wholly on other people recognising and agreeing with it. Identity needs to come from a strong inner sense of who you are. And don’t they understand that even with the many many successful institutional captures, they’ll never achieve what they want, which is to actually change sex.

Regular women eh? Not cis, just regular? I suspect it doesn't mean predictable every-28-days-ers either.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/04/2024 14:53

Is there normally a message when you click 'Thanks'? I just got one saying 'This thanks will appear from [my username]'. Have I just never noticed this before?

I don't get any of the email addresses at all - the whole system comes through Teemill who just fulfill whatever I set up, but they take the order and email details. I used to see a first name but now just have an order number. And this is one store among hundreds.

I also don't think anyone is - without coming on here - going to even clock that this is TerfMerch (TM).

And even if they did, they'd have to infiltrate Teemill and sort through hundreds of thousands of orders to find the people. And it would be a data breach of the order that started this whole thing. So I think, relatively, this is OK.

Thanks. I’m not familiar with how teemill works, so that is somewhat reassuring.

There was that incident when LOJ was a victim of a homophobic hate crime, the thread was full of posters condemning the attackers.

And then the poisonous little sack of offal, on hearing that some women at an LWS (?) event had been beaten up, said, "Meh. What did they expect? Bigots should expect a reaction."

Hopefully @GCLabRat had nibbled her way out and is on the way to a mumsnetters house to be fed and housed properly.

I tried writing a poem but my brain refuses to give Aston anything decent.

Sigh! Apologies.

DATA THIEF

It's NOT the way to do things,

There was another one... More of a sentence than a poem, but it's how you present it that counts!

Violation

Aston data thieves didn't ask consent.
Women recognise that male entitlement.
Men's grasping hands take our words without asking.
Men's grasping hands touch our cunts without asking.
When we complain,
we get DARVO again.

Corpus is Latin for "body".
These men treat our words like our bodies.
Exploit, steal, monetise.
Invade, defile, despise.
I call these Aston men "scrapists".
It's no coincidence that that rhymes with "rapists".

OP posts:
JanesLittleGirl · 26/04/2024 21:50

So sc-rapists. Taking without consent.

Boiledbeetle · 26/04/2024 22:28

I wonder if Judith Butler books would make more sense if they were read to us by Helen Joyce? She could read out a chapter then explain to us what she's just read.

Honestly, it's the only way I can think to do it!

JanesLittleGirl · 26/04/2024 22:42

"Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

HJ: Gibberish.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

HJ: Gibberish.

"He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought."

HJ: More gibberish.

"And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!"

HJ: OK. I give in. There is no fucking sense in this shite.

DrTWETMIRF · 26/04/2024 22:45

Ooh ooh ooh! A lovely Mumsnetter was inspired by that poem, and her version makes more sense than Lewis Carroll or Judith Butler!

And I would love for Helen Joyce to read me the book this poem is in! Although maybe Mary Harrington or Kathleen Stock or KJK or JKR! Gosh! So many choices for this one!

But I think I'd still want Helen Joyce doing the audio book.
