Asked my Lib Dem candidate what a woman is

Not sure who to vote for. Lib Dem man posted some sensible stuff about an issue on the local fb group then tried to request me as a friend, I thought I’d gauge his response on this issue. Would be funny if it weren’t so fucking tragic.

You should asl them about Aimee Challoner and how he (Chaloner is a TIM) was allowed to give his pervert, diaper fetishist, rapist father a job as an aide, paid for by the lib dems.

Don't google Challoner if you've just eaten. It's grotesque, the whole affair.

Whose body were they born in? Who got the body they were meant to have? How did this mix-up happen? Can I have zendaya's body on the NHS?

Apparently living your life as a woman also makes you a woman. Who knew. As you say @Crouton19 , can I live my life as someone else?!

I asked a canvasser for the Libdems what a woman was at a council by-election and he said he couldn't answer that! He also said that they were very could at calling out DV against women, I pointed out that if a rapist identified as a woman it would go down as a crime committed by a woman, he didn't answer.I live in a Libdem constituency and the council is also Libdem, never going to vote for them again.

I can’t actually believe the times we are living in.

The only way to live your life as a woman is to be an adult living in a female body.

Trans women are living their lives as men.

Are you going to reply to him?

Exactly. I would feel I’d sullied myself if I stooped to arguing with this level of idiocy.

If anyone can help me come up with a firecracker response then absolutely! I’m feeling quite exhausted and hormonal/emotional so not sure I’m up to drafting something clever/witty in the face of such a stupid fucking message but I would like to

Can’t explain what a woman is but can ‘call out’ DV against women?

Make it make sense! 😩

Does this mean I can identify as a slim, 5'6" 35 year old who just has the misfortune to inhabit a fat, 5'3" 57 year old's body?

I'd be tempted to try and draw him out a bit.

"I'm afraid I don't understand your answer. I am a woman and I don't understand what people mean when they say a male person is "living as a woman". What does living as a woman involve?"

fedupandstuck · 17/04/2024 15:49

I don't know if you'd stand any chance of discussing this with someone who could stand to type that answer out and put it as their position.

It's a circular definition. A definition cannot contain the word it's defining. So it's meaningless by definition, without the possibility of arguing about that. But I doubt this twit would get that concept and would try to argue that it does somehow have some meaning.

If you want to make them squirm you could try innocently asking how one "lives as a woman", and see how many stereotypes they come out with.

What does living as a woman involve?

I would love to know his answer.

I mainly WFH, seldom go out anywhere. I am female, how would I be doing it differently if I were a man?

A Lib Dem candidate tried to friend me recently. Must be their new strategy. I never friend people I don't know personally so I deleted it.

It’s like that clip someone posted recently with the “computer keyboard for women”. Is living as a woman seeing the world in pink or something?

I am firmly gender critical but recently saw a TV discussion about this and the person who was pro-trans said that they genuinely believed that male and female brains were different and trans people clearly had brains that were not 100% in accordance with their biological sex. He reckoned that in 50 years time we'd all be hanging our heads in shame to have treated trans people in this way (similar to how our views on homosexuality have evolved).

I instinctively reject this notion but then again I'm no scientist. What if he's right? What if there is a biological element to being trans?

@JimBobsWife the body, and every cell in the brain, is still male. Brains are mosaics and no one can identify a female brain from a brain scan. Some features are slightly more common in men than in women. That does not make them male features. That would be like saying that a size 11 shoe is a male shoe size, or that 6ft is a male height. Brains are also plastic and change with their environment, so not necessarily fixed.

People are segregated, when necessary, by sex because of their sexed bodies not their brains. Other than that, dress and present and behave how you prefer. But don't claim your body is not the sex that it is.

As I understand it, all the evidence we have so far suggests this is pish, however much TRAs might want to believe it. No evidence that brains are blue or pink, and your sex can be deduced from every single cell in your body.
