nauticant · 22/01/2024 14:57

Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gener Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

There's live tweeting from https://twitter.com/tribunaltweets or if Twitter doesn't show the tweets, look at https://nitter.net/tribunaltweets. There's an informative substack here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre

This post explains how to get access to watch the hearing: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4988632-another-gc-employment-tribunal-roz-adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre-2?page=24&reply=132419912

Everyone should be in now

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 14:13

Some of us have gone the traditional route, with an emotional support dog.

nauticant · 23/01/2024 14:14

Was that DH saying that the other witness would be KH: Katie Horburgh, ERCC Board Member?

There’s something about the bombproof letterbox.

If you legitimately do something in response to a threat (real or imaginary) it’s generally because:
a) you have personal experience of that level of threat
b) you have associated experience of that level of threat

So people buy locks, and lights, and alarms, and insurance, and cameras etc because that’s seen as a proportional response to the threat of theft. And you might invest in bigger better anti theft devices if you have something terribly valuable, or live in a high crime area or recently experienced a break in.

But, for example, drug dealers invest in heavy security compared to the norm, because they are aware of the tactics they might use against someone and want to protect against those same measures.

Some of us have gone the traditional route, with an emotional support dog.

I'm thinking it should be a support ferret and a support weasel.

I mean for them not you

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 14:16

NC taking about staff at beiras place and it's absurd you have issues over the quality of their service

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 14:16

Back to Beira's Place. Support workers have staff w over 30 years experience.

It's absurd to suggest I can't be confident of their sevices

ickky · 23/01/2024 14:16

yeah because your scrutiny has gone so well!

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 14:16

Purely an ideological position.

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 14:16

NC some matters to pick up on from earlier. Q of referral to Beira's place - it's run by 2 women well-known in the sector. 30 years in Glasgow RCC first and second in command. Board is distinguished, inc Rhona Hotchkiss

KM don't know. Don't know who on board

NC BP gets referrals from police etc

KM not aware

NC It's absurd can't be sure of quality of BP services

KM don't agree

NC specific doubts

KM not subject to scrutiny as would be if charity or funded by gvt/local get

NB purely an ideological position.

KM an organisational position

nauticant · 23/01/2024 14:17

NC: This is purely an ideological position isn't it? (ERCC disliking Beira's Place.)

KM: It's an organisational position.

Emotional support glass of wine and flourless chocolate cake here. (Day off here).

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 14:18

The transphobes are going to die out quite quickly

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 14:19

BA saying my hope is that the transphobes will die out quite quickly!

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 14:19

Witness says no specific moderation but hope staff felt they could raise stuff with senior staff

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 14:20

Witness doesnt agree that it was aimed at Roz

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 14:20

So ageism too then.

We see what happens when staff raise stuff.
