Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gener Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

There's live tweeting from https://twitter.com/tribunaltweets or if Twitter doesn't show the tweets, look at https://nitter.net/tribunaltweets. There's an informative substack here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre

Honestly, the things some people characterise as attacks will never seek to astonish me. It's genuinely as if they live in an alternate universe.

I wonder if she believes "biologically a woman" and "biologically female" are the same thing?

How do I know if I'm female, if I don't believe in gender identity and we aren't allowed to know or acknowledge sex by cultural convention?

How do you tackle sex based violence if you can't talk about sex?

How does a rape victim know her abuser is male? If she assumes it was a man to a rape counsellor, will the counsellor ask her if she checked pronouns before making this assumption?

Just y'know suggesting why having a culture of gender identity replacing sex might be a problem for a rape crisis service...

WallaceinAnderland · 23/01/2024 13:47

Mumblings but not the usual admonishing.

This.

Will a rape survivor get a little lecture on inclusivity if she assumes the sex of her rapist? Or told that she's breaching their GDPR by mentioning their sex?

It's such bonkers Orwellian bullshit.

RMW's confidence for spouting nonsense has definitely been knocked since h** latest defeat. The Meade Judgment must've been a real blow.

Hang on, so KM wouldn't comment on it, and KT would only comment on it after first seeking an approved position from MW.

There's an elephant in the room here.

Is ANYONE seeing the power and control issues at this place and who dominates ALL cultural and policy issues personally even if they are unwritten / ignored if written??

Brainworm · 23/01/2024 13:53

Have I got this right?

SUs can request provision from natal females and this request will be upheld, but everyone is expected pretend not know that provision is provided by a female if/when a female doesn't want them to know?

Should I'd be the case that a requirement to work in a provision where the EA allows for single sex provision is for workers to be willing to be open about their natal sex?

This does mean those whose identities mean they don't want to do this couldn't work there, but that relates to specific requirements of the post that are proportionate/reasonable.

Just caught up on my lunch break. Thanks for all the updates and chat. It's not going well for them. Interesting to hear they tried to settle ... turns out you can't control everything after all.

Mollyollydolly · 23/01/2024 13:53

Kathleen Stock's reaction to Zoe. She's right isn't she. It makes clowns of everybody.

Not in the least. Too busy to notice as bringing out 2nd edition of book by popular demand, ahead of General Election. (I lightly paraphrase.)

When is someone going to ask Anya Palmer, Akua, Reindorf, Ben Cooper, Peter Daly, Annie Powell and all the splendid women at the heart of this to publish a reader of the actual law and its applications?

It's odd that qualification has only just come to light. You'd think it would be a prominent part of the CV of someone in MW's position. Displayed front and centre given it has much more relevance than the hospitality qualification.

Looking at that website, it appears to be a two year course. And theres no way of checking if anyone who claimed to be qualified by this is in fact qualified.
Like you can check a dr is registered, gas safe engineer and more.
So umm less than 9 grand could buy you a certificate?

YES!

NoBinturongsHereMate · 23/01/2024 13:57

Where 'upheld' means providing a support worker who's a woman.

And 'woman' (regardless of any qualifying adjectives such as 'biological' or 'actual') means someone who has a passport saying they're a woman.

Ridiculous I know, because I adore that one of the options goes up to 11 (level 11, but even so…).

I have ALWAYS said that transactivism isn't about sex, its about power and control.

Pronouns are not used by the subject of them. They are imposed on others. How is that NOT about power and control?

We know that rape isn't about sex, its about power and control.

So why does anyone assuming that appropriating womenhood, isn't about power and control?

Here is a rape crisis centre embroiled in a court case where the lines of power and control over women and gender identity are being laid bare. Its throughout the organisation - its the dysfunctional disciplinary service, its the control of the culture at the organisation, its about withholding information and the non-production of written policy on certain key issues, its about not wanting 'heretics' to work there etc etc.

Can you unsee it?

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 14:02
