nauticant · 22/01/2024 14:57

Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gener Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

There's live tweeting from https://twitter.com/tribunaltweets or if Twitter doesn't show the tweets, look at https://nitter.net/tribunaltweets. There's an informative substack here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre

This post explains how to get access to watch the hearing: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4988632-another-gc-employment-tribunal-roz-adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre-2?page=24&reply=132419912

Witness I don't think it's specifically about the material reality of sex.

AlisonDonut · 23/01/2024 10:45

Thing is, if you genuinely think you are right, you'd be ALL OVER the hate emails.

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:45

Didn't listen to podcast 're bigots get raped, so cant confirm it

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:45

NC reading out a paragraph from the letter

lechiffre55 · 23/01/2024 10:45

Its like watching a large lion eat a small baby piece by pice. A really dumb baby.

AlisonDonut · 23/01/2024 10:46

We would never have insisted that a victim would see a male as they don't have men working for the organisation.

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:46

We don't have men working for the organisation!

Lies

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:47

You will never assure a victim that their worker is literally a woman

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:47

So this writer you wouldn't be able to help as she can't trust you when you say their support worker is a woman

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:47

She can't trust anything you say

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:48

That support doesn't include telling the service user that their worker is biologically a woman!

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:48

But they won't give away the sex of a worker...

bit of a contradiction there!

nauticant · 23/01/2024 10:48

I know that for many ETs in England and Wales a transcript cannot be provided but I wonder what the situation is for Scotland. This is dynamite. But then many other parts of KM's testimony is too.

A ' heresy hunt'

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:49

Nc on about a member of staff saying RA is subtle but she knows what RA actually thinks!! Or words to that effect

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/01/2024 10:50

I really hope this tribunal is widely reported, but I presume it won't be.

It's interesting the way NC is repeatedly framing gender ideology as a religion (heretics, excommunication), Itd be great if more people could begin to see it that way

OvaHere · 23/01/2024 10:50

Do any of them ever have pause and consider that they are terrible people?

Imagine receiving a heart wrenching letter from a rape victim and filing under 'hate'. This would be pretty awful in any organisation never mind a rape crisis centre.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:50

"All the things are subtle, there's not something you can put your finger on."

lordloveadog · 23/01/2024 10:51

I really want her why they think one of the protected characteristics - sex - is shameful and should be kept secret, and how that secrecy affects their ability to make sure protected characteristics are balanced.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:51

So blinkered that they were assuming RAs concerns were transphobic and She was a Terf, (not that she cared about the service users!!)

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:52

Not interested in spending energy on Terfs feelings

an expression of contempt

AlisonDonut · 23/01/2024 10:52

I'm still going to listen but I've got two types of marmalade to make so no typing for a while.

Datun · 23/01/2024 10:52

KM - yes
NC - many would see that as provocative
KM - MW was best person for the job, relevant experience in the sector, well known for advocacy
NC - moving on. Now C forwarding email from support account, many of you would call that transphobic

How can MW be the best person for the job, which includes counselling raped women, when they have no qualifications to do it.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:52

No sign that Nico challenged as contempt for Terfs was acceptable in the org? I don't think that.

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:53

Contempt for Terfs was compulsory

Disagree
