nauticant · 22/01/2024 14:57

Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gener Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

There's live tweeting from https://twitter.com/tribunaltweets or if Twitter doesn't show the tweets, look at https://nitter.net/tribunaltweets. There's an informative substack here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre

This post explains how to get access to watch the hearing: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4988632-another-gc-employment-tribunal-roz-adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre-2?page=24&reply=132419912

It looks like it's going to be a morning of long glum pauses from KM.

Witness admits she hasn't considered it that way

GCITC · 23/01/2024 10:19

The other two witnesses for ERCC will be giving a witness statement, rather than being questioned by Mr Hay to save time.

These are currently being produced. In England it is normal for members of the public to see the witness statements but I'm not sure about Scotland.

GCITC · 23/01/2024 10:20

I'm happy to throw some money at a silent keyboard for Naomi!

I've only just joined so missed this. They will still be questioned by NC though, right?

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:20

Witness would refuse to discuss biological sex of worker with service user

Signalbox · 23/01/2024 10:21

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:19

NC asking. about the fact that AB excommunicated Roz

Interesting admission there!

AlisonDonut · 23/01/2024 10:21

We would assure the SU that they would be seen by a woman but not able to confirm their biological sex.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:21

She doesn't agree that it's gaslighting

lordloveadog · 23/01/2024 10:21

@pronounsbundlebundle yes, and since I think the GRA needs repealing, I reckon the point that it is incredibly sexist legislation is important.

Yes. It will basically be the same as the system in England. So witness statement, questioned by NC, questions from the tribunal and cross alexamination.

nauticant · 23/01/2024 10:22

NC: Do you understand why some people would consider that treatment of a rape victim (refusing to tell them that their support worker is female) would be gaslighting?

OP posts:
AlisonDonut · 23/01/2024 10:23

Wouldn't refer to Beira's place as not a charity and not local authority.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:23

I've got an eyelash in my eye, I'm off to sort it out

nauticant · 23/01/2024 10:24

That message from AB is excrutiating.

OP posts:
Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:27

NC pointing out that it's insulting to the actual service users that AB appropriated their words of violent and humiliating.

Froodwithatowel · 23/01/2024 10:28

Good for NC getting that aspect heard, it is a huge tell of values and beliefs in that place.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:28

NC about to move onto next topic

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:28

Point at which investigation broadened

DeeLusional · 23/01/2024 10:29

pronounsbundlebundle · 23/01/2024 10:16

It really is as if the legislation was drafted with a very clear denial of the fact women are entitled to full human rights at the heart of it.

Abusing women. Treating them as less important than men. It's baked in.

Well yes, the rights of people who have/have had dicks will always trump women, because so many men dream of invading WOMEN's spaces with impunity.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:30

Nc asking if MW had anything to do with broadening the investigation? Don't know

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:32

NC reading out staff comments about RAs wrongthink

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:33

Nick didn't challenger their language, they had used terf,

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 10:34

NC terf routinely associated with threats of violence isn't it? Not that I'm aware of

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 10:34

Terf is often associated with threats of violence?

don't agree
