It's December 22nd and you're putting on the sprouts? How long do you boil them for?

My MIL used to boil sprouts for at least three days, or so it seemed.
She liked them al dente.

Glad I wasnt the only one worried about the sprouts. Maybe they are to be lobbed at the rozzers but she doesnt want them to hurt too much?
