Is anyone else going on Sunday?
It's at 1pm in Duthie Park.

I'm driving up from Glasgow and picking up a friend in Arbroath on the way.
I'm reliant on Sat Nav so if anyone knows cheap/free places to park nearby that'd be great.

From Let Women Speak Portsmouth, (same day & time) wishing you the best day, give it some welly! We will, rain predicted.

There is parking in Duthie Park but if it's full you can park on the street on Riverside Drive between the park entrance and Bon Accord glass (roughly).

ArabeIIaScott · 21/07/2023 09:00

Is the talking cactus still there?

Mochudubh · 21/07/2023 10:31

Spike? I don't think so. I briefly worked with the guy who did the voice but that was when I were a lass, many moons ago.

Waterproofs and wellies already in the car, just got new stickers so will leave some dotted around the city.
Where abouts in Portsmouth is your event?
I've a friend down that way who might be interested, she's never been to an event before but was hoping to meet up with me next time I'm down at LWS in London, but I think that's looking like November now.

Thanks, I've let her know and she's going.
I lost some friends through this but I've gained many more and quite a few have gone to events because they've seen me going and posting/sharing photos of them.

Thanks for that - I will try to get there

Mochudubh · 23/07/2023 15:43

I just got back. I was a bit late in arriving as I thought the south grass would be down by the boating lake rather than near the Winter Gardens. I saw a gathering of people in the bandstand and almost went over but luckily caught sight of a pink & blue flag so gave it a wide berth.

What happened earlier? I heard that a TRA assaulted one of the women before the start. Were they arrested? It was good to see a police presence and they seemed to be on good terms with the WWW organisers, I didn't see how they interacted with the rainbow mob as I had my back to them.

Some very moving speakers, particularly the woman with the Mohican and the barefooted woman (I can't remember names). I must have left my song sheet on the bus, I was going to show DH but couldn't find it, I hope someone picks it up and reads it.

Mochudubh · 23/07/2023 15:44

I didn't go in to see Spike. Sorry Arabella.

Waitwhat23 · 23/07/2023 17:13

A TRA tried to steal one of the WWW banners and when a woman tried to get it back, he punched her. She's going to have a black eye and a badly bruised arm but I've just seen her post on Twitter that she is even more determined that she won't wheesht.

Cowardly pathetic men. They always resort to violence.

fromorbit · 23/07/2023 17:17

Re attack in Aberdeen: it seems the woman victim is bruised but ok. It seems to have been another attempt to steal a flag from a woman demonstrator by a TRA.

"Quietly minding our own business setting up for our event & a TRA steals our banner & assaults a woman trying to retrieve it.
‘We just want to pee’ my arse.
Bullies & thugs must never win!

"Thank you, everyone. I'm ok. Very shaken up will have a badly bruised arm and black eye
I'm definitely not gonna wheesht. They can beat us, and they can scream at us and call us names. But it only hardens our resolve if you resort to violence you have already lost."

The assault has been filmed. Apparently the Police have been informed.

Was the TRA assault inspired by Sarah Jane Baker's advocation of violence to a huge crowd on July 8th ? A TRA group platforms and shares on the internet a demand to punch women in the face and two weeks later guess what happens. A woman gets a black eye from male violence. Hope the details of this get shared to the Baker Court case.

At the same event, signs promoting violence against women were held up. It's a running theme.

The TRA's are commenting under that photo saying 'we mean nerf guns, you melt!' (aye right) but seem unable to show any kind of sympathy/empathy/consideration/acknowledgement that a woman was actually attacked at that event.

Nice write up of the Aberdeen event really shows the contrast between the two crowds.

The Police have the video of the assault and the victim has given a statement.

Lets hope we see some action on this.

NecessaryScene · 23/07/2023 17:32

I think I almost prefer the old "God Hates Fags" version of these mobs.

At least that version was non-violent and didn't give the same impression of glee at cruelty you see there. I find that aspect particularly disturbing.

CorruptedCauldron · 23/07/2023 17:42

This was my thought too - a woman, no doubt perceived to be a “terf”, punched in the face only a few days after that SJB criminal called for violence against terfs - and was cheered on by a baying mob. The mayor of London failed to fully condemn SJB’s words. Ironically the mayor is now advocating for men to help tackle violence against women and girls by saying “maaate” to call out their thuggy pals’ misogynistic behaviour. Did anybody pull this Aberdeen attacker up on his behaviour with a discreet “maaate”? Funny how VAWG is acceptable if it’s carried out against a problematic kind of woman (i.e someone who doesn’t roll over and do whatever men tell them to do), and is meted out by a stunning and brave rainbow warrior who is so utterly marginalised and discriminated against and just needs kindness pleeeeeeze. It makes me sick to the stomach that this gender craze has given lily-livered arseholes the green light to batter, berate and demonise women.

So it's ok if you only beat disobedient women with soft weapons?

Violent thugs. And yes, Downing Street will be taking note that violent man incites rainbow mob, and rainbow mob do the violence.

Mochudubh · 23/07/2023 17:46

Thanks.

I could barely hear the arseholes, the WWW PA system was far better😁 They eventually ran out of steam and resorted to playing Cher. I hope the Police arrest the TRA and at the very least give them a caution.

Waitwhat23 · 23/07/2023 18:01

One of the organisers of the 'counter protest' was a Scottish Green party candidate in 2022 for the Torry/Ferryhill ward of Aberdeen.

What.a.surprise.
