Please can everyone here STOP with the stuff that you just personally find offensive as you're losing the argument when people body shame Sam Smith, or have a problem with drag (no, it is NOT the same as blackface, stop pretending it is), having a problem with pride. The amount of positives that come from pride far, far outweigh the negatives (especially for young people trying to find acceptance).
Being 'offended' by something - just because it makes you uncomfortable (such as someone's lifestyle or how they look) isn't important.
So... you're asking women here to stop their opinions because you hold a different opinion, is that it? That's what the TRAs want: they want dissent silenced.
Some women, including me, do regard drag as being equivalent to blackface and will explain rationally and at length with evidence why we hold that opinion. Many, many of us, including lesbians like me who started going to Pride in the late 80s and 90s, when it was a risky and political act, have every right to say how we feel about the current corporate glitter unicorn Pride.
Can you cop and paste examples from FWR: Sex and Gender of women body-shaming Sam Smith? I don't thank most women posting here would be happy to see that.
We're not playing the offended game that you and the TRAs play. We're not offended, we're rationally and justifiably angry about the undermining of everything that Pride and Stonewall etc once stood for, about the attack on women's legal rights and about the capture of all our major institutions by an ideology.
We're not your mum: we don't have to support you in your beliefs in case you go off on one.
