Judges send people to prison. They aren't expected to decide exactly which prison. The prison service has a mechanism for making those decisions which doesn't require the intervention of a judge.

The judge who sentenced Wayne Couzens to a whole life sentence didn't have to specify that he would be sent to Belmarsh or Frankland, did he? And this judge didn't have to make the call about male or female prison. The judge made a dubious call and if I was the victim, I would absolutely be appealing this decision to the Attorney-General.

Surely it would be for the CPS to appeal, which they probably won't being stuffed to the gills with people whose main goal is gender ideology.
