I wonder if this person will be subjected to the same treatment as Caroline Farrow?

Let's wait and see!

I always get them mixed up, sometimes I'll throw in Suffolk too 😃

Funny, I don't remember anyone on Mumsnet issuing violent threats, or anyone in the GC movement being charged in court with menacing people with a hammer in supermarkets.

Odd, isn’t it?

I wonder at what point “tarring everyone with the same brush” melds into “pointing out an obvious trend”…

…Ponders…

Not aiming this at Plum, I just wanted to see if others had the same idea:

The word 'victim' was used in the context of the sentence. ie if they continue with the threats......

In CF's case, victim was written without inverted commas. In the case of the hammer bloke, the word victim was used, in the context of the women threatened by hammer bloke.

It doesn't seem like a coincidence.

Confusedmumannoyedson · 08/06/2023 12:09

Yet this type of story gets sent off to the naughty corner and is not concerned of interest by many. Some men and woman are blind and deaf to this and just turn away whenever another (there appears to be more and more and more) story comes up.

Confusedmumannoyedson · 08/06/2023 12:12

@bluemoonswoon THIS

"A man publically threatens to violently disembowel women and you are here scolding us for talking about it? JFC. I am genuinely stunned."

Wow.

Felix125 · 08/06/2023 12:24

OK - perhaps the word victim should have been placed in inverted commas for the CF case - sorry if this has caused you major confusion.

Do you now want to bring up Boiledbeetle mixing up the two counties as another major confusing issue for you?

Do you want me to add a string of 'disclaimers' to the end of each of my posts just to cover my back?

Note that the word disclaimers is in inverted commas too

SidewaysOtter · 08/06/2023 12:25

According to the response from Twitter reports, Laylalefey's account has been suspended. Good.

I'll be happy when I hear he's in prison, tbh.

The English would like more imaginative names for our counties but Clackmannanshire was already taken.

GAWI · 08/06/2023 12:28

I was absolutely horrified to read the direct threats to one woman this morning.
What a scary horrible man who really does need to be prevented from escalating his behaviour.

Because we can't tell the difference between the good men and the not good ones, we have single sex spaces.
How do we tell the difference between the transwomen who just want a quiet life and the ones like this?

nobodysdaughternow · 08/06/2023 12:29

I am offended by drag because they portray one type of woman. I am not that woman and neither are any of the women I like. A drag women is verbally aggressive and physically exists for the pure entertainment of onlookers.

I am also offended by a man who says he is a woman. I have no issue with men who are gay, wear make up or female clothing because they feel good in it. But it doesn't make them a woman in my view.

I also won't use pronouns because they are a gateway into affirming gender is fluid and do not reflect my beliefs.

I am comfortable occupying this space and am thankful there are women brave enough to voice their opinions despite threats of mutilation.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 08/06/2023 12:35

Those twitter posts are genuinely scary, especially when you know he has form

He's perfectly entitled to. I'm sure I've confused many people, including myself, with that fuck up today!

MavisMcMinty · 08/06/2023 12:42

@bluemoonswoon

I was neutral, on the fence, baffled and silent about gender issues until finding Mumsnet. My views have been changed/informed by scores of articulate calm MN posters, who demolish the handful of silly, trollsome, ignorant, mantra-driven TRA-supporters on a regular basis. I have never seen a death threat or rape threat or violent threat from any gender critical posters. Never. I’ve seen a lot of courtesy and information/evidence for their position - if TRAs followed this example we might actually get somewhere. But debate = genocide, apparently.

SunnyEgg · 08/06/2023 12:48

I can’t believe women have to put up with this with no recourse

It’s horrific

But which prison?
I have no faith that it would be a male prison, especially if the same judge gets any say…

MerlinsLostMarbles · 08/06/2023 13:06

There are bad apples on both sides.

Just yesterday a transperson was asking people on social media to report an account posting vile threats which included a GIF of a Newton's Cradle with drawings of hanged people in trans colours instead of the balls.

This sort of thing has became worse since EM took over.

ArabeIIaScott · 08/06/2023 13:14

Not even slightly equivalent, Merlin, to graphic, targeted, violent threats to specific women from a man who has a known violent history.

Not even relevant.

Both sides my absolute arse.

SunnyEgg · 08/06/2023 13:20

‘Both sides’ is always mentioned when men show how violent they are

ArabeIIaScott · 08/06/2023 13:22

Just more derailing.

  • Women post clear examples of targeted violent threats.
  • Cue vague story about someone somewhere posting a nasty cartoon

Whataboutery stretched to breaking point.

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2023 13:27

I reported that violent guy to Twitter and they said this morning he had been suspended

GAWI · 08/06/2023 13:33

I'm not sure if it's better he's suspended or the post is left there for the hundreds of posts that will naturally follow from tras to condemn his behaviour.

Florissante · 08/06/2023 13:36

bluemoonswoon · 08/06/2023 09:29

There are horrible people in every section of society. There are awful trans women, there are awful people on mumsnet, there are awful gender critical people.
Stop using the extremes of human behaviour as an excuse to bully trans people as a group (I see it here all the time).
Stick to core of your beliefs and focus on what matters (women only spaces / women only sports / legally what makes a woman).
Please can everyone here STOP with the stuff that you just personally find offensive as you're losing the argument when people body shame Sam Smith, or have a problem with drag (no, it is NOT the same as blackface, stop pretending it is), having a problem with pride. The amount of positives that come from pride far, far outweigh the negatives (especially for young people trying to find acceptance).
Being 'offended' by something - just because it makes you uncomfortable (such as someone's lifestyle or how they look) isn't important.
Protecting women's female only spaces is important.
Focus mumsnet, focus! You're losing the room.
(And for those so say things like 'the tide is turning' --- no it's not, only for the far right and daily mail readers. It's not exactly winning the argument is it).
