Thread 1:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4776556-a-mumsnet-thread-about-a-book-about-a-mumsnet-thread-under-the-duvet-of-darkness-written-by-the-women-of-mumsnet?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=share

You do not need to have read thread 1 – this is not that sort of thread.

But to recap… Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

“Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” was published as a paperback on 31st March 2023.

Available on Amazon only: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C129WKDD

In a rather bizarre turn of events at one point it reached No 2 in poetry best sellers and No 5 in Feminist Criticism best sellers. No one will be surprised to discover that a book that is in the main about people, especially men, claiming to be something they are not was kept off the No1 spot in poetry best sellers by a crime novel, identifying as poetry, written by a man ;-)

E-BOOK:

Some people wanted an e-book rather than a paperback, but for that we needed someone who could actually make an e-book and some extra poems.

FairyKindleMother came to the rescue with regards the e-book and posters wrote enough poems that we could add 20 more poems into the e-book.

I pressed publish on the e-book a few hours ago. It can take usually up to 3 days to appear and populate all the info etc on the various sites, and there is always the chance they knock it back for some reason. But I've done all I can do at this point. We just have to wait and see who spots it on sale first! It will appear on the Amazon link above hopefully soon, (or I'll get an email asking me to change something).

MONEY FROM SALES OF ALL FORMATS:

In honour of Magdalen Berns, who co-founded the Scottish campaign group For Women Scotland, 100% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to For Women Scotland.

“It’s not hate to defend your rights, and it’s not hate to speak the truth.”
Magdalen Berns (1983 – 2019)

As I started work on the e-book posters continued to write poems. So we had a choice: leave them there, languishing on the thread, unloved, forgotten, never to have their words uttered again OR we could just do volume 2.

Posters voted for Volume 2 but we still need more poems!

And that’s the gist of thread 1.

Let's hope she either gets the job or the boss sees what the hell he is doing to the rest of his staff.

It's really not the fact that this new staff member is transgender, It's that the rest of the staff are now being treated badly to accommodate one person who seems to have an unusual hold over the boss. I've seen women behave like this as well as men, so it's the person not the trans status.

Absolutely that, Boiled.

Boiledbeetle · 14/07/2023 22:29

Currently running at an even split of paperbacks and e-books this month.

7 of each

And there are other people's poems all over other threads and I really should actually spends some time rounding them up. But that means asking people. Ugh... Maybe I'll just start with the ones who've already said yes!

RCOT a predominantly female organisation have have a new male CEO and are now fully engaged in the process of reeducation of it’s members, mainly women, stonewall style.

Boiledbeetle · 15/07/2023 10:27

Considering the way things are going at the moment you'd think organisations would pause and reassess. But as it's a bloke he probably has looked at the issue and doesn't see what the problem is. all he needs to do is get the women to capitulate and all will be well for the men who want access to things they are not entitled to!

so, it seems SJB is currently locked up. whether this is true has not been verified though.

In the hope that it is true that SJ B is currently incarcerated:

UPDATE

In a startling turn of fortune
The police finally locked up the loon
The TRAs are throwing a strop
Because SJB was arrested by cop
He got sent back to jail for breaking his licence
It's about bloody time, he was ramping up to violence

I have been asked to post the following, however the poster wishes to remain anonymous.

UsernameWithheld:

The Garden

The clouds sat overhead for a long time
Heavy squalls obliterating all they touched
The fresh buds trying and failing to open
Strangled by the weeds stunting their growth

But finally, the sun broke through the clouds
First only glimpses in amongst the storms
But through it all the women weeded and planted
And slowly the blossoms grew and bloomed

The sunshine now is here more than the clouds
The flowers and plants outnumber the weeds
The women have toiled for many an hour
Their efforts rewarded with a beautiful garden

With grass so green and flowers of white and purple.

SinnerBoy · 16/07/2023 14:57

Oh, top subversive idea for an actual garden!

Now I'm not saying I'm addicted or anything but...

T TUNNOCK LTD

This is a tale of Tunnock’s treats

The ones that we eat at all of our meets
Usually, there’s a selection from which to pick
No one has difficulty wolfing them quick
No, it’s so hard to stop as they are so nice
Oh yes to another, no need to ask twice
Chocolate and mallow, caramel and wafer
Knowing there’s snowballs to finish off later

Logs that are large and come in bite size
Tunnocks will be in my hand when I dies
Dark ones as well? Well, there’s a surprise!

TUNNOCKS

There is a group of women, scattered wide and far
United in our love for a brand of chocolate bar
No imitations will be accepted by this witchy group
No, its only the real ones that make us jump and whoop
Oh, glorious Tunnocks are our sugary saviour
Chocolate and mallow, caramel and wafer
Knowing that aged five or even aged fifty
Snowballs still remain wonderfully sticky

Whilst the teacake is not my favourite personally (I mean I love them but I love other Tunnock's products more!) I have been thinking on the matter of a Tunnock's TEACAKE

The teacake is
Eminently the crown
Atop the rest of the
Chocolatey empire
At Uddingston
Kept there by people
Everywhere loving them.

Moving onto the SNOWBALL I find they are

Slightly different from a teacake
No biscuit base though
Otherwise the same except for
Wispy bits of coconut
Beautifully attached, in the main,
All over the outside
Lots fall off during eating, but are
Licked off the wrapper at the end.

Heading towards my favourite in second place for me is the CARAMEL LOG.

Can eat these for ever
And a day.
Reminiscent of the wafer
A different coating
Makes this delicious.
Enveloped in a
Liberal sprinkling of

Lovely roasted coconut
Oh boy do they make a mess
Gorgeous though!

For me though the most wonderful of Tunnock's products is the CARAMEL WAFER

Can’t get enough of these
A whole pack of 4
Remain uneaten for
About five minutes
Mouthful after mouthful
Eventually all eaten and I’m
Left with a multitude of

Wrappers that I hoard
Aware that I’ll never actually
Fathom what to do with them
Even so in the drawer they go as a
Reminder of my love.

(Caramel log missing from image as Sainsbury were out of stock! How very dare they!!)

After yesterday's sky interview

THE INTERVIEW

Iain Anderson went on TV,
but was no match for Beth Rigby.
He looked in shock
and went off half cock,
unable to sound coherent
as a genderwoo adherent.

He couldn’t get his answers out,
yet did a good line in facial pout.
He ummed and ahhed like it’s a sport,
glib excuses were his retort.
If the top of stonewall sounds so daft
I dread to think how they are staffed.

The support dog is now on overtime
after Iain’s almighty non-sublime
witterings of total incoherence.
His words showed up such impotence.
Just general buzz words were his stance,
as we all looked on with complete askance.

I bet he wished he hadn’t bothered.

As it happens I'm currently half under a duvet as I hit Post.

The Bluffer
On a warm summer's eve
On a train bound for Brighton
I met up with a wokester
We were both too tired to sleep
So we both kept on staring
At our phones, and at Twitter
Then outrage overtook us
And we began to tweet.

He typed "Trans women are women
They belong in women's spaces
From prison cells to bike races
Hashtag NoDebate
You'd better use those pronouns
Or your face we'll be punching
You're on the wrong side of history
We don't need your advice."

It was all too much to swallow
And I have my share of bottle
So I rolled my sleeves up
And got ready to fight
The night was deathly quiet
Just the sound of fingers tapping:
If you're gonna play this game boy,
You're gonna lose; I'll tell you why –

You surely know who's a woman
Know who is fakin'
These mistakes you're makin'
Are hurting everyone
You will forget John Money
When you want to bed a honey
You'll tune out their Crying Game
When you want some fun.

Now every human knows
That the secret to survival
Is half of us with small gametes
And half of us with big
Just don't be a tosser
If your hand seems like a loser
The best body is the one you have
You'll die with those genes.

He didn't take this kindly
But I'm almost out of time here
My logic it had crushed him
Still he tweeted on.
The truth is not transphobic
Reality's addictive
Take these final words with you:
They're bluffing, and they'll lose.

You surely know who's a woman
Know who is fakin'
These mistakes you're makin'
Are hurting everyone
You will forget John Money
When you want to bed an adult human female
You'll tune out their Crying Game
When you want some fun.

Refrain as needed.
