I forgot to tune in earlier today, so hope everyone is okay and the event went well.
Will try to watch later

Just by way of contrast to the male threats and actual violence I think all those at the Birmingham event who responded once it became clear a speaker had misrepresented the reason they want to speak, were brilliant. ie a group of women just acting together to stop the deception and de-ascalating the situation.(*)

Imagine if the situation had been the reverse. That someone gender critical tried to do that whilst surrounded by the predominantly male TRAs.

I hope anyone doxxing and posting derogatory info about police officers gets caught and charged.

Nobody will be posting derogatory information about them; by definition, information comprises facts and facts cannot be derogatory.

Also, how can they be doxxed? They're public (well, Crown Officials) servants, walking about in public and they are obliged to give their name, number and station to enquiring members of the public.

If attendees of the event post videos of their negligent and possibly illegal behaviour, along with their details, it will be neither derogatory, not doxxing.

As for telling FemaleAndLearning not to take her daughter to a "protest," what a nasty thing to say. Have you no sympathy for a child, who was assaulted by an adult, at a previously peaceful event?

Said event being invaded by violent extremists, who were facilitated in their crimes by the very people who are supposed to prevent crime and disorder.

SinnerBoy · 16/05/2023 06:06

I'm saddened to hear about your daughter's horrible experience and hope that she's not too much traumatised. I also hope that she hasn't been intimidated into not attending further events, because that is exactly what these knaves want.

I hope you can let her see the supportive posts on Twitter and here, so that she knows that she has masses of moral support.

oldwomanwhoruns · 16/05/2023 06:30

There must have been some other women hurt when that man used his bike as a weapon against our line? Before the police turned up. The line had broken, the TRAs had surged forward and we were holding them back. I was just grazed but others must have taken the full force 😡

Norma27 · 16/05/2023 06:39

@DerekFaker here is another pic of the thug trying to rush the stage. He got a sexual thrill from it too. He was also shaking with rage. I am the 4’11”dark haired woman in the picture. He must have been 6’4”
@MerlinsLostMarbles how dare you victim blame once again. It is a women’s rights event, not anti trans. As I said to you on the other thread, a woman spoke about her pregnancy loss whilst those you support shouted over her. Shame on you for supporting violent thugs.

I was so sorry to hear about your daughter’s assault. I hope she is ok and has no lasting issues. It must have been very concerning for her to also then be separated from your other daughter.

It is shocking that the police did not send enough officers. If should have been perfectly safe and uncontroversial to attend a women’s rights event.

Victim blaming shows your concern to be false. You are still dismissing violence against women and girls on a feminist forum!

So let’s see:

It is just a cream pie!

It is just water!

Leave teenage children at home!

All because women say words you don’t agree with.

Helleofabore · 16/05/2023 07:59

MerlinsLostMarbles · 15/05/2023 19:20

"Women's rights" is misleading when the agenda every single time is transpeople IMO.

Kelly should rename it to "Let Gender Critical talk about transpeople" just so we're all clear what it's about.

Do you ever actually do any basic research before you touch a keyboard?

I have been to an enough of these events and watched even more on live stream. You are wrong. At most events there will be other issues discussed.

However, your constant framing of the issues that women and children are needing support on as ‘trans’ issues show despite your years here, you have never actually learned anything about feminism or about the needs of women and children.

How entrenched to you have to be to be posting in this way on a thread where women who attended the Birmingham event are posting about their children being assaulted and fearful in what should have been a safe crowd and other women are describing their own incidents?

Do you ever once think… maybe they have a point and maybe I have dehumanised women and girls who disagree with me to the point I cannot actually recognise violence against them?

Do you ever once think … am I supporting the baddies with my posts?

RufustheSpecuIatingreindeer · 16/05/2023 08:23

merlins post was victim blaming and i would also say not in the spirit (as much as i hate that fucking term)

ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 08:29

Leave teenage children at home!

It's more than that, though. It's 'don't get involved in politics', 'don't speak up' or 'you can expect violence'.

It's a subtle way of asserting that women who speak up on - well, whatever - child loss was the last speech I heard from that event - deserve to expect violence.

I think it's rule #6:

  1. Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breastfeeding babies deserve punishment.
ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 08:32

I tend to think our tedious derailers who pop up over and over again are largely harmless.

But you've got to wonder, when you've got to the stage of arguing that children who get assaulted are in some way guilty, whether this really is such a harmless pastime. It all has an effect. Making women fearful. Trying to make women feel bad. Trying over and over and over again to smear women with lies.

Yes. It is glaringly ‘not in the spirit’.

This is what has struck me. That everytime a women, in this case a girl of 15 years old as well, is assaulted the same people seek to downplay it or dismiss it. Surely by now they have thought, actually, there IS something not right here…. Maybe I will not post on this thread?

SinnerBoy · 16/05/2023 08:42

I just think that posters who write like that have their agenda and even though they know it's unsupportable, they just can't stop themselves from posting rubbish.

ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 08:51

15 - old enough for testosterone and a double mastectomy.

Not old enough to attend a meeting about women's rights.

Tut tut, don't try and bring pesky logic into things. TRAs can't cope with it

Why? Is that because there is a known risk to their safety? Because women want to speak and should expect male violence keep the kids away?

This is why I think these wankers shouting at women and getting aroused by it, are not just TRAs, but more pervy misogynists who just enjoy it.

You see it on here all the time. Ridiculous, childish, really basic posts designed purely to goad women.

What violent thug/pervert/woman hater wouldn't be up for an afternoon of intimidating women. They even get to assault them, while the police watch. Boners n all.

AlisonDonut · 16/05/2023 09:25

Well if women just stayed at home, and didn't get all uppity wanting to meet in public and talk to each other, then the violence wouldn't happen would it?

Datun · 16/05/2023 09:27

Altho having said that, I realise that many TRAs are interchangeable with MRAs. But now they're swelling their numbers with sex offenders and common or garden perverts.

ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 09:48

Yes, Datun. Certainly the pictures of big beefy balaclava'd men squaring up to the women at the protest suggest that there are plenty of men who are just champing at the bit and very excited to get a chance to attack women.

I suppose it's been a while since doing so has been tacitly sanctioned in public.

And there is barely a pretence at argument, you're right. Many of these posts are just lazy slurs. I guess any form of engagement/response is gratifying for some people.

How depressing. Envy

clareth · 16/05/2023 09:48

God it’s depressing isn’t it. I really hoped the tide was turning, I really did, but reading these accounts of this let women speak rally. Wow. We’ve got fetishists, misogynists, perverts and violent males sexually assaulting women and hurting girls in front of the police.
Men allowed to play out their fetishes in plain sight. You’re a bigot or a transphobe if you dare speak out to help protect women and our rights.
God help our daughters and grand daughters.
What else can we do? How else can we speak out?

ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 09:48

Write to your representatives, clareth. MPs, councillors, local paper. Speak to people, most of all.

MavisMcMinty · 16/05/2023 09:49

I’ve been here on Mumsnet for 6 months now, and have seen a lot of Merlin’s posts in that time, along with a handful of other trans defenders.

I have never seen any of those posts or posters change anyone’s mind, but I have seen a lot of women persuaded by the considered, educated, persuasive reason posted by scores and scores of clever articulate women.

I wonder why Merlin and their handful of mates continue with their laughable lies and their gaslighting? What’s in it for them? Being humiliated day after day, is that the attraction? Is it a fetish? Masochism? Just larks? Bantz? Boredom? Obsession? Attention-seeking?

Can’t help thinking those posters would enjoy Twitter more than MN.

ArabeIIaScott · 16/05/2023 09:51

I'm afraid I think Datun has it, Mavis. These aren't posters actually trying to change anyone's mind, are they? Just get a wee rise out of us.
