The behaviour should be taught by the parents first and foremost

Pixiedust1234 · 25/04/2023 00:14

Cant read it. Does it say which women?

Datun · 25/04/2023 00:22

Not Rosie Duffield, obviously.

Boiledbeetle · 25/04/2023 00:27

Can't read the article but just want to say Labour don't respect women so how the hell do they expect to make children do something they are incapable of doing themselves as adults? And exactly which sort of women will they be expected to respect? Just the male ones? Or those pesky actual ones?

MandyMotherOfBrian · 25/04/2023 00:37

Any share token available?

JustCallMeWitch · 25/04/2023 00:37

Men-women or actual, female women?

Ramblingnamechanger · 25/04/2023 00:41

Sorry . Can anyone tell me how to link properly…? I subscribe so assumed it would come up with share token .

Lots of comments about Rosie Duffield and respecting women in the party..

Whatever contradiction this seems to indicate about Labour, I really just don't think that teaching that stuff in a class is what convinces kids to think a certain way.

^^ This.

Labour have a huge problem with misogyny in their own ranks. They’ve done nothing about the GMB (or any of the other unions who didn’t have to have their failing exposed by an inquiry but whose outcomes suggest similar endemic sexism).

Despite the very real change that all-women short lists should have made to the party, none of those women have risen to lead the party (and it’s not as though the men are just overflowing with talent), and now the shortlists are no more. Their treatment of Duffield and their actions regarding Mike Hill show that their own values when it comes to respecting women are significantly lacking.

That they even think this is the sort of thing you can tackle with some classes in school is itself telling.

Couldn’t access the Times article so looked at the Guardian:
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2023/apr/24/labour-considers-plan-to-educate-boys-to-curb-violence-against-women

Seems Starmer had a round table with experts, including some good ones, like Southall Black Sisters, and “Celebrities” (because, obviously, the way to respect women is to make sure you endorse the idea that pretty people are super important, even if they know little about a subject Hmm ).

Labour considers plan to educate boys to curb violence against women

Keir Starmer says ‘prevention’ is key to ending abuse during roundtable session with experts and celebrities

EpicChaos · 25/04/2023 02:22

Oh yeah, when they can't even put Lloyd Russell or whatever his name is, in his place! Nasty little specimen that he is!

WarriorN · 25/04/2023 06:30

Celebrities - Emily atack has done a lot on SM abuse if women - she's had daily dick pics for years.

I think they're using younger celebs who've experienced abuse to rein in younger women and girls. I would

Online sexual abuse is an enormous and growing issue

Do you have to have a subscription to see the comments?

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 25/04/2023 07:06

They've got to be having a laugh. How will they make sure that happens when they are showing them it's fine for males to invade womens spaces and sports? There's no respect there. They don't even respect women in the Labour Party.

ohfibonacci · 25/04/2023 07:07

@Eddielizzard i think so. Here’s the top ones

Boys will respect women under Labour ARticle in TImes

@ohfibonacci thank you. I love reading the comments

GCAcademic · 25/04/2023 07:10

Labour are fielding a 23-year old transwoman with no connection to our local area in the local elections, and who makes it clear they belong in female spaces. That's how much they respect women (and voters).

ohfibonacci · 25/04/2023 07:10

@Eddielizzard a subscription really is worth it. Love mine.

WarriorN · 25/04/2023 07:49

Excellent comments!

It would be great if they weren't being such hypocritical abusers themselves.

PronounssheRa · 25/04/2023 07:52

When Labour start respecting women, I'll take them more seriously

Blueberrycrisp · 25/04/2023 07:54

Labour can't even define what a women is! This is surely a joke.

maranella · 25/04/2023 08:00

I find Labour's belated attempts to woo female voters contemptible, when their leader can't define what a woman is, believes that some women have penises, doesn't support Labour MP Rosie Duffield when she stands up for women's rights, and allows that vile misogynist and Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle to bully women in the fucking chamber without any penalty whatsoever. If anyone from Labour HQ is reading this you really need to fix all those things before you have any credibility whatsoever with any thinking woman in this country.

SquidwardBound · 25/04/2023 08:01

There’s also the fact that labour don’t seem in any way to understand that the same boys also don’t respect their teachers (many of whom are women). A few worksheets in PSHE aren’t exactly going to do anything.

Talk about a really superficial way to approach a problem.
