According to the ONS.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/why-does-the-census-say-there-are-more-trans-people-in-newham-than-brighton/

"Did you realise that one in every 67 Muslims is transgender? That adults with no educational qualifications are almost twice as likely to identify as transgender as university graduates? That the London boroughs of Brent and Newham are home to higher proportions of transgender people than Brighton and Oxford? These are some of the astonishing results from the 2021 census of England and Wales, which was the first in the world to ask about gender identity."

Why does the census say there are more trans people in Newham than Brighton?

This article was written by Michael Biggs who has been instrumental in analysing all the bogus data from the Tavistock, and debunking the suicide myth. Hopefully someone will realise how much of a stuff up this is with him getting this out, before Stonewall set up an outreach office in Newham and beg for funding🙄.

It's not aboutvtransing away the gay, it's that people for whom English is not their first language didn't understand the question, because it wasn't clear.

They've also missed another important Nuance in that article though. Women on here often discuss the question "what is a woman though?" And what does it mean to "feel like a woman?". The vast majority say that they know they are female women but don't feel any particular gender identity. It's possible some would then answer no to that question, "does you gender identity agree with the sex you were born with?" - not because they identify as trans but because they don't recognise/feel/believe in/support the concept of gender or identifying as a gender.

I thought about answering like this, because it's true - born a female so remain a female and am a woman by the definition adult human female, but don't feel any particular gender identity. The only reason I didn't was because I realised that the census was flawed and that that would make me show up statistically as transgender, which I'm not.

I wonder if this can be cross referenced with health records or if that’s forbidden due to privacy (especially pertaining to the GRA)?

Cass had to get a legal amendment to look for follow up data on former GIDS patients.

The census is anonymous for 100 years so no this can't be done.

What can be done soon though when they release more data will be to look at the sex of those who said they were trans men or trans women. It's a fair bet that the female "trans women" are ordinary women who didn't understand the question and vice versa.

Plasmodesmata · 09/04/2023 11:33

I answer no to questions like "does your gender identity agree with the sex you were born with?"
because I don't have a gender identity.
This may as a pp said skew the results because people might read my answer as meaning I have a different "gender identity". Rather than that I don't have one at all.
It's a bit like asking atheists "do you still follow the religion that your parents did?"

Blueblell · 09/04/2023 11:36

what a mess! I suspect some educated people for whom English is their first language, don’t fully understand the new vocabulary

I just mean check how many people are receiving eg transition related cross sex hormones in that area and see if the numbers get anywhere close - doesn’t need house-by-house census data.

If it were ‘transing away the gay’ it would surely require medical intervention (whereas down in Brighton all the non-binary and gender fluid types might consider hairstyles to be transition).

Does it translate that people who have a harder time fitting in and succeeding in our traditional institutions find it so stressful that they doubt themselves and who they are perhaps?

This is certainly true but not to the extent they're experiencing existential angst over their gender vs sex Confused

Kinda chuckling that Brent, whose MP went on telly to say children were born without a sex, is one of the two name checked London boroughs.

Isn't this fabrications of the middle class who have irrational luxury beliefs - inducing illness in the working class and protected characteristic groups?

ResisterRex · 09/04/2023 11:44

Surely this means it's high time Stonewall offered their services to this religious group.

No, 1 in 67 Muslims in Newham are almost certainly gay. As are 1 in 67 of the general population.

TRA is an enemy to gays as it is to women. And bloody irritating to most men as well.

Yes you might be able to get local authority level data on people recieving cross sex hormones to compare (though not all people who consider themselves trans take hormones) I'm not familiar with that data source though

Flowerly · 09/04/2023 11:47

This is really concerning. It is clearly about woolly language and misunderstanding.

This makes me feel even more worried than I already was about women whose first language may not be English knowing which scans and tests to access from the appalling NHS literature. 'Anyone with a cervix' does not cut through like 'woman' does it?

Very worrying and potentially lethal. As we have been pointing out for god knows how long.

It certainly seems that way.

Especially amongst children in the looked after system.

But I imagine it will take many, many years and a lot of hindsight to confirm.

The politicians, media class, uni profs, charity staff, Teachers, and NHS staff - will DARVO narrative obsolving them of their enabling and direct abuse - will never be given any targeted consequences for their crimes for they are a sacred caste.

Those targeted as victims and taxpayers will pay the price and the lessons learned by the graduate woke elite I think Matt Goodwin on Triggernometry calls them, will learn how to evade personal consequences even better next time.

One issue was afair some trans women and presumably trans men answered as if they were born the sex they "transitioned" to.

So a trans woman could have answered they were women at birth. Something, something 'born in the wrong body' something. Or as quite a few decided at a very late age they were always the other gender.

The whole sex and gender wang question was as we predicted fucking useless for any shred of useful information.

I actually dont think any more information from any source would clear this up.
Between those not understanding the question and those who deliberately answered wrong and those who ignored it, nothing can save this section of the census.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 09/04/2023 13:27

You are probably right! I just hate the idea of public funds being directed away from were they could be used more effectively.

But I suppose at least the idiocy of those who insisted on framing the question this way will get a bit more sunlight?

Pink News are reporting that 15% of trans people in England and Wales are Muslim seemingly without ever stopping to think, ‘hmmm, I wonder why all these trans Muslims aren’t showing up in our own databases/news stories/community events etc?’

Especially when it’s more than double the percentage of Muslims in the overall population?

I have a vague memory of answering "no" to this question, as I don't consider myself as having a gender identity. I can't recall if there was an opportunity to explain this.

Same. I'm sure I answered no for the same reason.
These types of questions need to be so carefully worded.

thegrain · 09/04/2023 13:37

Maybe they need to redo that question

The costs involved make that impossible really.

We’ll just have to wait another 8 years!

Maybe they should just not bother with that question then. It seems a tricky one to get right.

Thelnebriati · 09/04/2023 15:00

When you have a large number of people from one area all fill out the same form incorrectly, one explanation is they had help e.g. from a volunteer at a community centre.
Someone should look into that.

BlueHeelers · 09/04/2023 15:11

Professor Biggs is a hero in this data analysis. Have a watch of his podcast/YouTube episode of “Gender:A Wider Lens” with Stella O'Malley and Sascha Ayad to get the detail of his data and stats analysis of the shonkiness of trans analysis and so called “research”

The ONS staff clearly lost the ability to think, which I think is a symptom of being Stonewalled.

Our public services are now in mental freefall at the taxpayers expense. I know this is serious but 😂
