A Mumsnet thread about a book about a Mumsnet thread “Under the Duvet of Darkness” written by the women of Mumsnet

For once we can do a thread about a new book where all the writers are actually on this very board!

Some of you know what I have been up to recently, when I can tear myself away from posting twaddle, gifs and sweary words in bigly letters on here, but for the rest of you…

Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started by TerfranosaurusVagina on the Mumsnet FWR board with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

Ramblingnamechanger suggested we do something with them to raise funds to help the women of Scotland and whilst Dodecaheidyin was tempted to write to Poetry Please on Radio 4, and ask them to do an extended special for Hogmanay about our poems, in the end it was decided to make the thread into a book.

After much procrastination by me “Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” went live on Amazon on 31st March

Currently it doesn’t show up in the main all departments search (I don’t know why or if it will, it takes a while for everything to work properly according to Amazon).

Pish bit of poetry, inspired by another thread -

Murrell and Sturgeon have gone away,
So the Scottish Polis are here to play,
They'll do your raised beds, your bin, your slabs,
Even bring in your parcel, they're such good lads.
A wee keek in the fridge for a bit of a judge,
But don't mention the tape, it was a bit of a fudge.

Been having a read today and will write a review in the coming days. What a lovely slice of a point in time! Big up the BB

I think this book is worth a post on the main board - what a bloody achievement to all concerned…I’m so proud of all of you involved!

Received today and very happy with it. Thank you so much for producing the book 👏👏👏to all who submitted their work. It’s a fantastic record of a difficult time in my part of Terf Island.

You know so far the only person who seems to hate it I'd the one person who hasn't read it!

It's just like those posters on some threads isn't it! Making decisions based on the fact the words came from the wrong women!

This time last week I had pressed publish a couple of hours earlier and me and some of the writers were discovering links not wielding, sites not showing as in stock or at all. Nothing coming up in any search, even in books.

No one knew it existed apart from a small group.

And now there's over 200 copies out there in people's homes

We end today on 20 orders processed and 211 in total!

Correction!

I've lost track of the days! Thought it was Friday when I wrote the above. This time last week I still hasn't published it! All the above happened later on on the Friday!

Look I've done nothing but live this book for what seems like months now! It's been a very long few days!
