Wow! I mean , congratulations Dan! You really are taking gender-non-conformity to the extreme.

Total respect. I mean, c-section, obviously, no?

And is your partner supportive? How exciting. For her to become a dad, that's just ... amazing!

What?

Oh. Oh, I see.

Sorry. Wrong end of the stick.

And for the record, I'm really really happy to do some personal mud slinging against Radcliffe because he's an odious talentless oik @LookingOldTheseDays

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 26/03/2023 12:33

Clymene · 26/03/2023 12:28

@PlateBilledDuckyPerson yes it is. I've just done a search of headlines for famous men I can think of with much less famous wives and the wife is always mentioned.

In any event, the reason this is funny is because of the shit about women that Radcliffe comes out with. If he didn't, this wouldn't be funny.

There's a current, very sad, article about the death of Andrew Lloyd Webber's son. His mother (Sarah Hugill) is not mentioned at all, even in the text, presumably because she is not famous, although personally I think she should be.

You will pick on any damn thing about people who do not agree with your right wing GC agenda, just to give the ole ideology a bit more air time on Mumsnet (not that it needs it).

lieselotte · 26/03/2023 12:40

I've actually just seen the headline on the BBC and had the exact same thought. He is not expecting a child His wife or girlfriend is.

failedbluecup · 26/03/2023 12:42

How else should it be phrased?

But he didn't write the headline so you're slinging your mud in the wrong direction.

Fairislefandango · 26/03/2023 12:48

How else should it be phrased?

Well quite. If you can say that a couple is expecting a baby (which you definitely can), then logically speaking, both of the partners are expecting the baby. Just because 'expecting' is also used as a euphemism for 'pregnant', that doesn't mean it stops meaning 'anticipating/looking forward to the birth of one's child'.

EyesOnThePies · 26/03/2023 12:48

Great news!
He must be so relieved to find that his wife is the sort of woman that generally comes with ovaries and uterus.

Fairislefandango · 26/03/2023 12:49

I totally agree about Radcliffe being an arse though.

magneticmoon · 26/03/2023 12:51

But... more important.. how will he know whether he has a boy or girl...

GreenWhiteViolet · 26/03/2023 12:53

Well, I found it funny.

I'm with the PP who hates hearing 'we're pregnant' though. No, only one of you is, and it's never the man.

Not quite as bad as one I recently saw in print. Of a couple: 'they will be giving birth in [location].'

FrippEnos · 26/03/2023 13:04

He does seem to have discovered what a woman is,

How is believing that women deserve sex based spaces 'right wing'?!

Oblomov23 · 26/03/2023 13:11

Eh? Don't get the issue. This is big funny just nasty.

😂I see what you did there

AnythingToSay · 26/03/2023 13:25

I lol'd.

I have no respect for him after the shit he came away with.

3peassuit · 26/03/2023 13:31

Maybe they drew straws to see which of them would give birth.

Fairyliz · 26/03/2023 13:36

Well I’m disappointed op. I thought you were going to report that he had realised what a massive twat he has been and apologised to JK Rowling.

PrettyMaybug · 26/03/2023 13:40

@Birdsweepsin Oh FFS! Confused

Nothing wrong with this headline at all. What a silly thread, and a daft thing to get irate about. Hmm He IS expecting a baby. It's not like the headline said he's pregnant. How daft.

Notimeforaname · 26/03/2023 13:41

He is expecting a baby. He's not pregnant but is expecting his child to be born. Its correct.

SirChenjins · 26/03/2023 13:47

Completely agree OP - it’s surprising that they chose to ignore the woman who is a well known actor in her own right and who is actually carrying the baby, but perhaps the journalist thought his feelz would be hurt if they printed something that reminded him of the absence of his uterus.

Other media outlets have managed to use their words properly to reflect the presence of the woman in their headlines, thank goodness.

TheShellBeach · 26/03/2023 13:49

AnyMucca · 26/03/2023 08:15

Pick your battles. Picking up and ranting about a non-issue isn't doing us any favours. To the point, I am wondering if this is a reverse.

Eh? How the hell can this be a reverse? Do you even know what a reverse is?

TheShellBeach · 26/03/2023 13:51

Fairyliz · 26/03/2023 13:36

Actually, so was I. I was really hoping that he'd finally seen the light and that he was announcing that he'd been wrong, and that actually, transwomen are MEN.

Because they are men, and DR has always claimed they're women. And distanced himself from JK Rowling because of this.

I do not think that having GC views equates to being right-wing.

Butchyrestingface · 26/03/2023 14:03

I saw the headline and thought the same thing, @Birdsweepsin.

Can't wait for when he's in labour pushing out a 10 pound baby.
