Cant say I have heard of Radical Notion. They say:

It seems quite expensive to subscribe but they have made this issue free to read online. A lot of it seems to be the ongoing antagonism (meaning the issues are real but seem to be motivated as much by personal fallouts) between radical feminist and socialist feminist gender critical women.

Some may remember this thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4662757-womens-place-uk-filia-event-the-elephant-ignored-yet-again and the revelation that WPUK seems to now be linked to the group Actual Gender Critical Left, who endlessly snipe about Karin Dansky and KJK.

Anyhow posting in case anyone wants to have a read.

Still not sure why some women think in the day of virtual opportunites to talk directly to other women, they need to go down the routed of "publishing" as though their ideas are somehow special and shouldn't be submitted to the rough and tumble on online forums like this one!

We have a right and a left and it's not the same as the UK. It's Democrats and Republicans and people have to pick only one of the two sides come election time. Every election either panders to the base for turnout or panders to the very small middle who reliably vote.

I would argue that the new progressive left is alienating liberals on the left (majority of Democrats).

I’ve been involved with MN for 15+ years in different capacities and I’ve always been really proud of it - of us all, as a whole, including all our different politics and perspectives. Can’t count the number of times I’ve pointed women who were fumbling around the beginning of ‘am I a feminist?’ to this board in RL

I honestly feel like a twat - the dominant voices on this board are exactly what I’ve been arguing we’re not for the last 15 years. It’s horrible and I’m ashamed.

I don't see what's going on now as all that different, although the methods have changed. Instead of being appealed to as 'comrades' we are shamed as 'domesticated zombies'. The aim is the same, to herd us into doing the correct thing.

Posters here are not some kind of lumpenmummytariat who must be told who to listen to and what to do and shielded from bad influences. We're a bunch of intelligent women from all sorts of backgrounds who are having some of the best discussions anywhere online on this topic, and have been for a very long time now.

MN has been a driving force in this movement for over a decade. Without MN, 'terf island' would not be a thing.

Thanks for the response @Delphinium20 I guess I'm not sure how the left can win this if they keep excommunicating everyone who speaks against gender ideology and accusing them of being on the right. I feel like the biggest threat to the left is not women's rights activists working with people on the right, but their own side alienating ordinary voters. At least, that's what it looks like from where I'm standing.

I kind of see your point, Winters. If you care that non-white women didn't get their voices heard in Western feminist groups, it can seem obnoxious for convos to devolve into "stop calling me a racist," instead of just moving another topic forward. I learned the hard way that arguing racism in a UK dominated forum isn't the same convo as a US or Canadian one would be. There are different social rules, different levels of accepted snark, different understandings of sensitivities. Though we're all speaking English, this is one topic I always feel doesn't work for me to engage w/ on MN.
