But she isn't trans............

Please make this make sense.

Maggie hen, I think you are a loony, I think you have thrown women under the bus, but you are as much a woman as I am.

I think you're right. I imagine when she came at this at the start she's knew she was a woman, she knew kids weren't known for their well thought out decisions, she knew a lot of stuff that she is now denying wholesale. What that must do to your brain, it must be so discombulating

But this is just standard for people who buy into this ideology. My friend who used to talk at length about her experiences of male sexual violence and harassment now pretends to believe that the statistics do not overwhelmingly show that men are the overwhelming perpetuators of sexual violence.
Another who prided herself on being skeptical and science and evidence based now has abandoned that interrogation for this issue.

You have to let go of past knowledge and values to believe this nonsense. Because you cannot reconcile the facts to this new belief system.

smallseacreatures · 17/01/2023 15:15

Was this a clip of a longer interview? Does the full interivew exist?

Abccde · 17/01/2023 15:44

If you have the LBC app you can listen to Tom Swarbicks show yesterday.

I’ve got to say, I’m well impressed by her confidence. I’m reckoned to be fairly clever, I have a degree, but I don’t think I’m clever enough to stand for parliament. Yet somehow I know what sex I am. That a woman like this has the brass monkeys to think she can wrap her head around all that happens in politics is quite impressive in a way. I wish I had her confidence!

Qualculator · 17/01/2023 15:58

She's actually an academic. But academics seem to be more affected by this ideology than most. It's very hard to understand. I sometimes feel that there must be two different types of people - those who can swallow what it's socially useful to them to swallow, and those who can't.

FemaleAndLearning · 18/01/2023 11:22

Apparently Maggie has an interview in Telegraph today anyone got it?

Twiggywinkle13 · 18/01/2023 11:24

Maggie Chapman is a dangerous lunatic frankly!

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 11:55

Not a single comment supportive of Mags. I suppose it's hardly surprising after a hatchet job of an article that destroyed her by, erm, repeating exactly what she saidGrin

I'l be over here throwing apples in the air, after all until you've tested them all you can't be sure gravity is real.

Userwoozer · 18/01/2023 12:50

This Telegraph article does her a favour, by talking about children aged 8 plus. She's actually talked about 6 year olds.
It's interesting that she puts so much emphasis on chromosomes. We're now being told by some TAs that a man literally changes sex when he says that he's a woman. So would Maggie accept chromosome tests as a condition for getting a GRC? If your chromosomes have changed to male or female, you get the certificate immediately. You have to have the certificate to access a women's prison, etc.

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 13:00

Oooh, I didn't realise there was video footage.

Boiledbeetle · 18/01/2023 13:08

It's even worse watching her as she's speaking. She's lost the plot.

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 13:12

She really is struggling to put together a sentence, there. I do feel sorry for again. She really is not able to do the job that's being asked of her, and I suspect she is feeling under a lot of pressure.

Chersfrozenface · 18/01/2023 13:22

Meh, no sympathy here. She should have seen the bollocks for what it is (she's trained as a biologist, FFS) and refused to go along with it, even if that meant not being prominent in the Greens or even being thrown out.

To quote the actual Biblical phrase, all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

(Atheist, BTW, but I recognise cultural references and appreciate apt prose.)

DeclineandFall · 18/01/2023 13:33

The Green Party paradox-
Climate change- follow the science.
Trans issues- don't follow the science, or at least not that science that inconveniently contradicts us but possibly other science that hasn't been discovered yet.
Insane.

BuildingaFuture · 17/01/2023 09:02

She was definitely a woman when I knew her as a student.

What was she like then? Are you surprised at how she is now?

Hoppinggreen · 18/01/2023 13:51

despite not even knowing where to start to check my chromosomes I know 100 % with no doubt at all what my sex is

Nothinglikethebest · 18/01/2023 13:59

I first met Maggie Chapman about 18 months ago when she was helping advise us when I was involved in a local community action group ( about green space). She seemed very knowledgeable about green issues, very approachable and attended lots of our public events I liked her, there was no mention of any trans issues. More recently she brought along a colleague who was trans (whom I challenged at a meeting and was called a TERF for my trouble) and it was obvious the way the Green Party was headed. I had to make a very hard personal choice about staying in the group and working alongside her and the Green Party for the benefit of my local community or stepping back because of them throwing women and girls under the bus, I stepped back I’m gutted that I had to do so. Tbh I don’t recognise her as the person I knew, she either hid it well then or has only recently jumped on the trans bandwagon.

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 14:18

That's like a wee microcosm of what's happened to Green politics in the UK, Nothinglikethebest. What a pity. I'm an ex member of both Scottish Greens and GPEW, and the 'gender' issue has really torn the party apart.

I'll never get it, I'm afraid.

There are numerous examples of predatory males with a paraphilia. How come she's never seen any?

And if she hasn't, and has only ever dealt with non-paraphilic males saying they are women, why can't she see the inherent sexism, the possibility for exploitation, and the entire lack of logic?? And did I say the sexism!

And the bullying tactics, and the violence? Why can't she see any of this?

Is her internalised misogyny so intense, that she sees virtue in debasement?

i'll never get it.

How do you know she's a woman?

It's really very difficult to tell an xx woman from a xy man with cais.

(They are genetic men who don't grow penises in the womb)

When they are born there's no penis so they get a female birth certificate and are legally female in every country.

It's only when they get to 15/16 and haven't started puberty that the blood/chromosome test is done and they are 'discovered'.

As Maggie chapman has never given birth there's every possibility she has cais and is a genetic male.

It is thought this may be what caster semenya has.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 14:54

I think Caster has a different DSD. If Maggie Chapman ever menstrated (and I've no interest in finding out if she has) then she's female. The chances of her having a DSD that wasn't detected at birth is small. At puberty? Infinitesimal.

Birdsweepsin · 16/01/2023 21:53

I'm all in favour of 8 year olds getting the vote if it means our leaders are people like Marcus Rashford and Elsa from Frozen

Hahahaha
Mine would have voted for Steve Backshall … I could get behind that.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 18/01/2023 15:18

Should we be calling her Maggie Chapperson from now on then?
