This could be interesting! She’s saying she’s going to stand to force him to talk about the issue.

She really is very clever.

UrsulaPandress · 05/12/2022 16:32

Go girl.

NeverOneBiscuit · 05/12/2022 16:33

She’s fantastic.

IcakethereforeIam · 05/12/2022 16:34

'Alexa! Remind me to order popcorn in time for the next election'

This should be interesting.

Floisme · 05/12/2022 16:53

Yeah that does sound interesting. I wasn't keen on the idea of her standing against Eddie Izzard - I think that would have got personal. This is a much smarter move I think - take the fight to the person at the top.

ivykaty44 · 05/12/2022 16:53

This could be good

Ch3wylemon · 05/12/2022 16:57

OMG 🍿 🍿 🍿

RoseslnTheHospital · 05/12/2022 17:04

The next general election isn't scheduled until 2025 so is this in the instance that there's a collapse of the Conservative party and an early general election called?

BlackForestCake · 05/12/2022 17:05

Holborn is a very safe seat.

Middle-class Labour Duncans and Jemimas, who have been openly calling KJK a Nazi, will amplify their smears even more.

I do hope the left feminists are not stupid enough to get sucked into joining in with that.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/12/2022 17:06

😂😂
She's a genius.

Had Labour party canvassers knock recently - lots of "oh no, surely not" in response to my points (much better talking about this now) and they went off with a cat's bum face with my "I want to vote labour again but not until you stop bullying women and start prioritising child safeguarding".

Ofcourseshecan · 05/12/2022 17:06

Good for her! She’ll make it clear why so many women can’t vote Labour any more.

rabbitwoman · 05/12/2022 17:16

It's not about winning. She knows she's not going to win.

But she will go to all the hustings, I bet, and she will not back down with half hearted compromise.

I didn't like her for quite a while because I thought she was needlessly antagonistic, and a bit like a bull in a china shop, but the more this ground on, day in day out, being bullied, silenced, ignored, called such names and threatened.....

I think she has the heart of a bloody lioness.

Helleofabore · 05/12/2022 17:22

She is a brave woman to take on Starmer. But I look forward to the constant pressure that Starmer and other candidates will face this coming election.

Absolutely. It's about ensuring a profile of this issue.

Whatthechicken · 05/12/2022 17:25

Next General Election is to be no later than Jan 2025. Only 2 years away, canvassing and hustings would obviously begin before. I think this is a genius move. Starmer believes Labour will win the next GE, he won’t want this sort of publicity and the awkward questions around the election - it may even make him firm up his position before then. Then we will know exactly where he/Labour stands, rather than ‘respects single -sex spaces’, but wants to bring in Self ID. Of course she wouldn’t win - but she will force a topic that Labour don’t want to address and keep skirting around.

I agree it is about raising the issue profile and forcing discussion, so that people can be informed about what's at stake for women, children and young people. He is currently enabled to side step the issue.

CampervanKween · 05/12/2022 17:27

Absolutely hilariously genius. What a woman. This will bring the daylight flooding in.

Sidaway · 05/12/2022 17:32

Lots of leaflets through people's doors!

ChubbyNinja · 05/12/2022 17:33

This is brilliant - I can vote for her!!

From a middle class Jemima.

Actually not at all - perhaps you'd be surprised at the makeup of this constituency. A lot of social housing and families of Bangladeshi origin.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 05/12/2022 17:33

As others have said, it isn't about winning. It probably isn't even about trying. It's about PR, raising the stakes for him... as he can't be 100% certain that women in his constituency won't vote against him, can he?

The single issue female campaigner against the man who would be PM. That must be bloody terrifying for him. So very many ways to make him look daft, patriarchal, ill informed, bullying, gormless, take your pick 😉

AnyFucker · 05/12/2022 17:37

She just doesn’t give up and finds increasingly inventive ways to shine daylight on this issue.

Admirable woman

sweetgrapes · 05/12/2022 17:39

Wow! What a woman!
