ArabellaScott · 26/10/2022 13:59

Not quite sure what's happened - seems there were credible threats to women's lives over these protests.

Now it seems a few women went ahead and met up and were attacked. (Nobody seriously hurt as far as I can tell)

Hoping everyone is safe and well.

Or is the security firm providing advice on morality?

Of course not, I guess I'm just used to those boring old days when people had principles about who they spent their money with. Can you imagine previous Feminist movements hiring right wing men who openly oppose women's right to provide armed security for them? As an LGB person I wouldn't feel very safe attending a demo in which men who think I'm an abhorrance before God and deserve to go to hell were strutting round with guns to 'protect' me.

Have you ever met a child?
Kids let out of school at lunchtime, maybe walking home for lunch - common in many parts of America. Hear women talking through a megaphone and see a small crowd. Kids go to see what is happening. This is how children behave. They are curious.

Have you ever met a headteacher?

you don’t let kids walk out of a school into a political demonstration.

deepwatersolo · 31/10/2022 12:38

So now we‘re back again at the issue of self-identified passive toddler bypassers?

Curiosity now? Just a harmless bit of fun, isn't it? Nothing to see, just kids being curious....

Brilliant dismissal of the actions that some of these students were participating in.

You do know that Women’s rights activists exist across the right-left political spectrum?

ScreamingMeMe · 31/10/2022 12:40

antelopevalley · 31/10/2022 12:34

Lots of - I will defend my side no matter what they do - here.
Bear macing kids? They deserved it.

Nobody has said anything like that, have they?

And we're still awaiting concrete evidence of any children being maced.

livvyposts · 31/10/2022 12:41

Do you check the political alignments of every company you purchase services from?

If I was organising a contentious political event and there were allegations that people from my group has seriously assaulted children then yes, I would check the political affiliations of any security company I used very carefully. Pretty basic risk assessment tbh.

After the event…how does that work?

or is it two different situations as ive lost track a bit

Datun · 31/10/2022 12:43

Hahahaha. That one actually made me snort.

I'm aware that anti-trans activists exist across the political spectrum. I'm not sure that pro lifers can in any way be considered women's rights activists.

I ask again: how does the owner being a right wing Christian anti-vaxer (allegedly, there has been no proof provided yet) affect their ability to perform security services?

The right wing security crew were brought in after the Tacoma protest.

Datun · 31/10/2022 12:45

I'll never stop chortling at people advocating for men's forced entry to women's toilets, refuges, prisons and wards attempting to leverage feminism to do it!!

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 31/10/2022 12:46

Gotcha

thanks livvy

So, a woman from another country who has been pushed to hire security practically overnight after being at an event where activists were actively violent, spitting, literally screaming, and mobbing, is being held to account to make sure that the security firm she uses has only acceptable people for her detractors in it. (who knows by the way how many firms were approached? did this one offer?)

Is this like the 'that person writes for [insert hated media outlet]'? When no other media outlets will publish an article. You do realise this is just another form of silencing voices that you disagree with and an attempt to discredit them.

You really are determined to bring out all the tropisms, aren't you?

How about you address exactly what these women speaking said. Let's discuss that.

All you are doing is adding to the list of ways a group of people who pride themselves on inclusivity and tolerance are the exact opposite. Are you sure you are not a plant trying to make arguments to show this? Because you are doing a great job.

Principles are old hat and no longer matter...apparently.
Maybe next time in Britain the EDL could provide security?

deepwatersolo · 31/10/2022 12:49

Who says this wasn‘t checked? You are conjuring up some Illegality of the Security service that just isn’t there.

Helleofabore · 31/10/2022 12:54

Who are EDL? Are they a registered security firm?

Datun · 31/10/2022 12:55

i've got to say, Posey Parker won't give a flying fuck about the possible affiliations of some of the employees of the security company she uses. I should imagine her criteria will be 'can you do security?'

but it's hilarious that people on here are trying to use an unproven argument connected to someone we have no control over, campaigning in another country, in order to smear the event remotely.

😁

Oi women who don't want men forcing their way into female only spaces, there's a person what works for security firm in America, who's not a feminist. Working for a woman who is also not a feminist.

Take that!!

deepwatersolo · 31/10/2022 12:55

Oh my, TRAs are regularly shielding pedophiles in their midst from accountability (thinking of Aimee Challenor‘s dad here, for example, or that canadian guy/‚woman‘ who wanted to help teenage girls with tampons) and preach about principles regarding the hiring of a service? Funny shit.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 31/10/2022 12:55

do people actually check online the people they pay to do jobs, on Facebook etc

surely you’d look at security firms or builders and potentially have no idea about their stance on vaccinations or abortion, its not likely to say on the webpage for the firm

i mean all power to you if you do, thats great…but I have a feeling that most people don’t

antelopevalley · 31/10/2022 12:57

English Defence League. The group before Tommy Robinson's Hearts of Oak.
Posie has no issue with the racist extreme right wing, so why not ask them to provide security?

After all she is not a feminist. In Britain, actual feminist organisations use women for security.

Perhaps you could answer the question I put to livvy above?

When I require a builder, wouldn't it be brilliant, if all their political views aligned with mine, and they were cheap, and efficient, and showed up on time.

Stupid Posie. Where's her bloody list of every available service provider, with their political views, and whether or not they're on trust pilot

deepwatersolo · 31/10/2022 12:58

So, does the EDL operate a security firm, or not?
