What the fuck will happen to these babies?

This is what happens when humans are allowed to be bought and sold.

OP posts:
SirSamVimesCityWatch · 20/10/2022 13:57

Bastards. Babies are not to be bought and sold.

MenopausalMe · 20/10/2022 13:59

Poor mother, hope she is getting good medical care

Poor babies with a buyer who isn’t prepared to even pay for the formula needed to feed them

Stupid evil buyer who thinks babies can be bought readymade with guarantees

RoseslnTheHospital · 20/10/2022 14:09

It is total utter stupidity that has resulted in this totally avoidable situation. No one should be able to do this, and why it isn't recognised as human trafficking is beyond me. No one would let a woman have children with the plan to sell them at 1 or 2 years old to whoever wanted to buy them, yet apparently when its called surrogacy and the children are tiny newborns that all goes out the window.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/10/2022 14:14

A complete disgrace and the tip of a very murky trade in buying and selling babies.

ZeldaFighter · 20/10/2022 14:17

Sounds like a total scam to me. Sure he isn't a Nigerian Prince?

whenithits · 20/10/2022 14:26

also how the hell he was able to just walk into a hospital and a preemie neonatal ward at that and kiss the babies is beyond me..

DarkShade · 20/10/2022 14:29

Human trafficking is right. Poor babies, poor woman who carried them. Those lovely little babies deserved parents who would love them, stay with them in hospital, prepare for their arrival. More: they deserved parents who don't think that babies can be manufactored and sold.

It shows how little they care that they didn't even bother finding out that 3 babies would mean early birth and extra complications and medical bills. They went to Kenya to exploit poor Kenyan women on the cheap.

It does all seem a bit iffy.

LeavesOnTrees · 20/10/2022 14:34

I wonder if it was a black woman who carried and gave birth to those white babies

Of course, it was.
She'll be poor and will have done it to help reduce the poverty she and her family will be living in.
I'm assuming this of course, someone may come along and say, no she just did it through the kindness of her heart and always dreamed of having a very risky pregnancy for a foreign couple she'd never met.

Before, rich people used to buy babies already born from Africa; Madonna, sandra bullock ,charlize theron, angelina jolie to name a few, which was bad enough. This is even worse.

I'm not surprised the costs are mounting, three babies in neonatal in a foreign country can't be cheap. This is what insurance is normally for (is it even possible to insure for though .[

constantsky · 20/10/2022 14:36

I think this entire thing is extremely fishy. Due in October, born in September, in incubators with tubes and oxygen? Those are some large, very healthy-looking 'premature' babies in that second picture. Terribly written gofundme page set up by a 'Patrick', only passing mention of a partner, a baby called 'Renesmee' (same name as the baby in Twilight), one single news article about it on the entire internet

I call absolute bollocks

miri1985 · 20/10/2022 14:37

More details in the mirror article, apparently he was violently beaten over there

"He also told of a further distressing incident in which he was violently beaten on the streets and said he was left fearful for his life. Edward said it will be easier to raise the funds in Ireland than in Kenya and said he plans on returning as soon as possible to get his kids home."

"“Obviously, I can’t blame the Irish Government for me putting myself in this situation but they could have handled it a little better.”

Edward said the Government was able to assist those fleeing the war in Ukraine but have failed to help him.

He added: “I’m in my own war, I know the situation is different to the one in Ukraine but I’d rather be in a bombshell in Ukraine with my kids in my arms than have them 5,000 miles away from me, not knowing if they’re safe or not.”"

"At present, there are no laws governing surrogacy in Kenya."

Also features a photo of him wearing a tshirt of photos of him and the children but none of his partner

They can’t afford the hospital bills, and yet they commissioned a triple pregnancy, highly likely to end with very small and premature babies in need of hospital care.
What would have happened with a single baby with a life threatening condition? Or if the birth went wrong and both mother and baby/babies needed intensive care that these “parents” couldn’t pay for ?

giving this a listen now, ‘Hard Labour, The Unregulated Kenyan Surrogacy Industry’

Speedweed · 20/10/2022 14:43

It's a dreadful situation - why would you go to a place where there are no surrogacy laws (ie to protect and balance the rights of both the carrier and the intended parent), use a fertility clinic which encourages triplets (horribly risky for carrier and babies, and expensive for medical care)....the whole thing is godawful. The babies need to be taken into care immediately.

Ofcourseshecan · 20/10/2022 14:51

Beowulfa · 20/10/2022 13:12

You mean the buying and selling of human beings leads to unscrupulous behaviour?

Well, exactly. Not a huge surprise. Heartbreaking.

Clymene · 20/10/2022 14:53

How are they going to be able to afford to raise triplets if they've not got the money to look after them?

This is sickening

Thymely · 20/10/2022 14:56

Sounds like a scam to me. Probably no surrogate no babied just a way to con people out of their money with a sob story.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 20/10/2022 14:59

I hope to god it's a scam and there aren't three new born, premature babies, removed from their mother set up for a lifetime of shit having been brought into the world for a bargain basement price to satisfy some man's whim.

Clymene · 20/10/2022 14:59

What a revoltingly crass thing to say:

I know the situation is different to the one in Ukraine but I’d rather be in a bombshell in Ukrainene_ with my kids in my arms than have them 5,000 miles away from me, not knowing if they’re safe or not.”*

I don't think he has a partner. Why has a 33 year old man bought 3 babies from a woman in Kenya?

I had the same reaction.
esp the second photo.

Everything about surrogacy make
my blood run cold

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/10/2022 15:10

In one sense I hope it is a scam. Maybe the fall out will alert those foolish enough to promote renting women's bodies and buying / selling babies that this is a toxic trade where charlatans abound.

Agreed, and if it wasn't then he's unusually clueless. The average triplet gestation is 32 weeks, you'd plan for an earlier delivery than that and $16k for triplets in special care with one near death sounds a bargain.
