Hospital refuses to operate after woman requests all-female care

I feel quite sick at this.

She was stunned then to receive an email from the hospital's chief executive Maxine Estop Green telling her the operation was off.

She told her the hospital 'did not share her beliefs' and she should make alternative arrangements for her surgery.

The message added the hospital was committed to protecting staff from what it described as 'unacceptable distress'.

Emma urged them to reconsider, adding in a further message she thought they had misunderstood her requests, which she said were entirely within the law.

The hospital said it would offer a private room but would NOT facilitate her requests for single-sex care after her operation.

It also mentioned her comment about pronouns and said it had a responsibility to protect staff from 'discrimination and harassment'.

Let’s put this into perspective. How about if she had said she didn’t want to be nursed by Muslims or by Asians?

The law allows for single-sex exemptions but not same-race exemptions for personal care because race and sex are completely different things. How racist do you have to be to think it's OK to claim that having black skin is comparable to having a cock and balls and the ability to forcibly impregnate another person?

Are you really suggesting a man would take all the trouble to become a Dr/Nurse and a transwoman just to commit a sex offence on a patient?

This can't be a real post, can it? Are you new to the world?

It gives me strong vibes of this Shona Robison quote. I do sometimes wonder if Shona wakes in the middle of the night and cringes herself inside out for saying something so obviously stupid.

I doubt she'd have enough self awareness to cringe TBH.

Now that GC views are protected under the law, how is this legal? Surely she can sue for discrimination?

Oh my god, I never saw that before. Wow. A five year old who’s read Red Riding Hood is smarter than that.

Really!? Not happy with making excuses for a child abuser, you're using this to 'own the terfs'.

that's vile

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/08/2023 00:02

Very typical of these people though.

Oh bless, DonnaritaPie. You have the critical thinking skills of a fricking banana.

That's not putting it in perspective. That's spouting racist obfuscations. Sex crimes are almost always committed by men. Not always but almost always. It is NOT the case that most sex crimes are committed by Muslims or Asians. Neither is there a dignity issue. This is the sort of nonsense which is used to distract from important conversations. You're not drawing a parallel. There is no parallel.

I'd like to introduce you to something called "reading comprehension". It's when you read the words that are actually on the page, not the ones you wish were there.

Not one person on this thread has claimed that women never commit violent or sexual offences. We have said that they commit them far less often than men. A man is between twenty and fifty times more likely to sexually assault you than a woman is, and he can leave you pregnant whereas she cannot. One infanticidal female nurse does not change this.

What Lucy Letby does show is that no one should be considered above suspicion and all safeguarding concerns should be followed up robustly. There should be no sacred caste of people that get their own way all the time and that people are too scared to accuse.

There should be no circumstance under which a good faith whistleblower should be forced to apologise or be in any other way punished for flagging inappropriate behaviour. Like how, for example, Teresa should not have been punished with the cancellation of her life-saving surgery for raising her concern about a male HCP walking into her consultation without permission

It should always be OK to question why a particular HCP is behaving the way they do. Like, for example, it should be OK to ask why a male HCP insists on giving intimate care to a woman who has specifically requested female-only carers.

Yep. 99% of sex offenders are male. I've never seen a TRA with a decent rebuttal to that statistic.

I'm disappointed that donna's post was deleted. It was an instructive example of the kind of thing that TRAs try to pass of as logic.

Thelnebriati · 19/08/2023 17:55

Oh don't worry there are plenty of other examples; over on another thread Donna says discussions about a child sex abuser are transphobic if the convicted abuser identifies as a trans person.
