There is going to be a women's rally outside of Holyrood (Scottish Parliament) on Thursday 6th October. Gather for 11.15am for a 11.30 start. It's the one delayed from Sept 15th.

The focus of the rally (and the timing, during what is normally First Minister's Questions) is the Gender Recognition Reform Bill that is currently going through the Scottish Parliament and the impact on Scottish women's rights.

The following speakers will be there so do come along and listen, mingle, network and then come for a drink :

Cllr Alison Dowling
Elaine Miller ("fanny physio", Gusset Grips)
Lisa Mackenzie (Murray Blackburn Mackenzie)
Rhona Hotchkiss (LGB Alliance)
Helen Joyce (Sex Matters)
Maya Forstater (Sex Matters)
Johann Lamont (retired Labour MSP)
Caroline McAllister (Scottish Feminist Network)
Kate Coleman (Keep Prisons Single Sex)

The rally is organised by For Women Scotland and all are welcome to attend.
If you are coming from out of town, or even from within Edinburgh, and would appreciate some company walking into the rally (which might sound a bit intimidating if you haven't been to one before) then get in touch as there will be a couple of meeting places organised.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

bump

TrashyPanda · 02/10/2022 18:26

daft question - but could I bring my dogs? (Small and would be on leads)
don’t want to leave them at home for too long.

TrashyPanda · 02/10/2022 18:28

Oh and would appreciate any details of a meeting place.

JanieAllen · 02/10/2022 21:08

Dogs have certainly been welcome before (I'm assuming that the dog understands that there are two sexes no trans dogs). Meeting Scottish Parliament to the side of it there is an open area. Follow the women.

Fandangoes · 02/10/2022 21:10

I’m going!

JanieAllen · 02/10/2022 22:14

health permitting I will be there....

I am appalled by the political situation in Scotland.

two male dogs who have both been neutered!

Waiting4baby2 · 03/10/2022 10:59

I really want to go but I’m looking after my youngest on this day and after the baby shouting incident I wouldn’t feel safe bringing them along 🙁 Thank you to everyone who attends this - it’s so important right now!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/10/2022 11:03

Such an amazing lineup! Hope to catch up online.

LovinglifeAF · 03/10/2022 11:21

Working sadly or I would come

334bu · 03/10/2022 11:21

Police have always been very good at keeping counter protesters away. Have seen babies at every protest I have attended in Edinburgh, so I wouldn't worry Waiting.

BlackForestCake · 03/10/2022 11:25

Demonstrations, even when they're loud and noisy, are usually pretty safe. You can usually recognise any trouble and steer clear of it.

I'd love to come but I'm too busy with work.

RhannionKPSS · 03/10/2022 12:22

Babies and dogs are welcome!

rogdmum · 03/10/2022 12:26

I’ll be slightly late but I’m going. The police were very good at the last one outside the Scottish Parliament and there was just a handful of protesters who just stood around and sometimes shouted a bit.

ArabellaScott · 03/10/2022 12:44

Hoping to be there.

JanieAllen · 03/10/2022 12:58

Also opp is Holyrood Palace and you can avail yourself of their loos and cafe without paying to go in.

Hoardasurass · 03/10/2022 18:47

Nichola Stergeon was booed at and laughed at in Dunfermline today and its being reported on the BBC Scotland news🤣

JanieAllen · 03/10/2022 20:31

I've just heard! delighted to hear it!

Tallisker · 03/10/2022 22:55

Well I might just be able to make this one. My first outing in real life. I've gone from lurking to the occasional comment, and now to actually doing something, even if it's only swelling the ranks, being in the chorus, being an extra Grin

stealtheatingtunnocks · 03/10/2022 23:48

Sturgeon was at Dunfermline becaise of King Charles and got boos?

did not expect that

it’s tipping, it is all tipping.

RhannionKPSS · 04/10/2022 00:41

Yes wee Nippy getting booed was brilliant. There may be more booing at her on Thursday...

NonnyMouse1337 · 04/10/2022 01:31

I'll be there! So looking forward to it 😄
