There is going to be a women's rally outside of Holyrood (Scottish Parliament) on Thursday 6th October. Gather for 11.15am for a 11.30 start. It's the one delayed from Sept 15th.

The focus of the rally (and the timing, during what is normally First Minister's Questions) is the Gender Recognition Reform Bill that is currently going through the Scottish Parliament and the impact on Scottish women's rights.

The following speakers will be there so do come along and listen, mingle, network and then come for a drink :

Cllr Alison Dowling
Elaine Miller ("fanny physio", Gusset Grips)
Lisa Mackenzie (Murray Blackburn Mackenzie)
Rhona Hotchkiss (LGB Alliance)
Helen Joyce (Sex Matters)
Maya Forstater (Sex Matters)
Johann Lamont (retired Labour MSP)
Caroline McAllister (Scottish Feminist Network)
Kate Coleman (Keep Prisons Single Sex)

The rally is organised by For Women Scotland and all are welcome to attend.
If you are coming from out of town, or even from within Edinburgh, and would appreciate some company walking into the rally (which might sound a bit intimidating if you haven't been to one before) then get in touch as there will be a couple of meeting places organised.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Any idea when it's to finish?

Officially we only get 1 hour (it all has to be booked and approved in advanced). So assume we finish speaking by 12.30 but it will take 10 or 15mins for people to disperse. And many will be off to the pub to mingle with fellow terven.

Oh I wish I could be there but I'm away this week! Hope there's a good turnout!

Thank you @PogueMahoneBoris I am bringing DH for moral support and shopping purposes and in order to complete his (and my) education. I'm driving a fair way so will probably slip in round the back and pretend I'm a tourist wondering what's going on. I'm desperate to here Elaine Miller though, proper fangirling going on here.

I no longer live in Edinburgh but have done on and off since you could drive along Princes Street (and park your motorbike outside Jenners) so am very comfortable in the city. Thanks though

No problem! Elaine will be mc-ing so get there early to see her in action. She's also VERY friendly and approachable so go and say hi before or after. She'll love it.

See you tomorrow JanieAllen!

Chrysanthemum5 · 05/10/2022 23:41

I'm going tomorrow with some work colleagues who are sick of having to hide their belief in biology

R0BYN · 06/10/2022 00:47

The weather forecast is “ gusty winds and light rain showers “ so bring your jacket and hat.

Auntpollyhadadolly · 06/10/2022 08:39

Is anyone thinking of live streaming the speakers at all?

DD is going. She’s krav maga trained, so not in the least intimidated by transactivists, if any turn up and get violent!
I’d like to see one try and punch her, rather than their previous tactic of attacking a 60 year old.

TrashyPanda · 06/10/2022 10:15

Just waiting for bus into town.
wearing waterproof jacket!
pups are v excited

2Rebecca · 06/10/2022 10:34

On my way by train. Last time the TRAs just made noise but we easily outnumbered them

Cactus720 · 06/10/2022 10:38

Looking forward to it. Great list of speakers. I wrote to all my MSPs but only one responded. So much for democratic representation.

LoopyGremlin · 06/10/2022 10:50

I'm on my way. Will be closer to 11.30 until I get there though!

Igneococcus · 06/10/2022 12:48

Any updates how it's going?

weebarra · 06/10/2022 12:56

VinoDino · 06/10/2022 13:08

Selkiesarereal · 06/10/2022 13:31

Just marking my place for the update, hope it went well.

Fandangoes · 06/10/2022 13:35

Fantastic peaceful protest - no trouble whatsoever, brilliant speakers!

Live4weekend · 06/10/2022 13:42

As a Scot living elsewhere, I wish you all the best today.

It's so important for my mum, mum in law, nieces, friends...........

The SNP can't get away with this.

TrashyPanda · 06/10/2022 13:53
