Thanks for the new thread

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 09/05/2022 10:15

Ah. The usual technical difficulties with sound to start the day.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 09/05/2022 10:15

Tech issues...again.

Surely this is why they should start at 9:30, so they can actually get going properly for 10?

Pluvia · 09/05/2022 10:16

I see IO and RMW are back in widescreen format with both of them on display. Don't know why they both need to be on show.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 09/05/2022 10:16

I know it’s been posted before somewhere but I wonder if someone could post again the address to send cards to Allison to?

I seem to remember it being c/o GCC, which would make sense, but also seems somehow counter-intuitive… Anyone?

Ameanstreakamilewide · 09/05/2022 10:17

I've got a rough idea, Pluvia...🤨

It's so we can get the full benefit of the pronouns.

lilkiki · 09/05/2022 10:20

Just finished reading AB’s witness statement - I cannot believe a group of social justice lawyers and advocates would treat her like this…simply because she wants to protect women from men?

i am actually dismayed. Do you think any of these people realise they’re the bad guy?

Pyjamagame · 09/05/2022 10:21

Witness intimidation, is my feeling

lilkiki · 09/05/2022 10:21

Can I view/read the bundle anywhere?

Chrysanthemum5 · 09/05/2022 10:23

I think IO and RMW appear in wide screen for ego reasons - AH's Co-counsel doesn't feel the need to appear on his screen and neither does BC's but RMJ appears to need this validation

WookeyHole · 09/05/2022 10:23

Meh. I can't get it to work. I'm in and hopefully muted, but just have a spinning reload circle. No visuals or sound. I've logged out and in again and tried chrome and safari. So annoying

Chrysanthemum5 · 09/05/2022 10:24

@WookeyHole definitely stick with Chrome if possible Safari has more sound problems (although it's hard to imagine how the tech problems could be worse!)

WookeyHole · 09/05/2022 10:27

Thanks @Chrysanthemum5 I'm on an iPad so using the Chrome app. I wonder if it's Apple sabotage! I'll try again shortly.

Pluvia · 09/05/2022 10:33

I am really enjoying the way in which Allison is using every opportunity offered to state the details of her case clearly for those of us watching/ reporting. I guess she'll have to be careful not to alienate the judge, but it's a very effective way of spelling out clearly how the accusations of her being transphobic came from the top down and was then circulated among the clerks and lower orders, as it were. AH would love to have this all skimmed over.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 09/05/2022 10:36

I don't care for AH's tactics...making Allison jump back and forth on the bundles like that is trying to make her look daft and that she can't keep up.

Pyjamagame · 09/05/2022 10:38

I feel AH's tone is that of a school teacher reprimanding a pupil.

katmarie · 09/05/2022 10:39

"these are very serious allegations" Well yes, that's why we are here, examining them in a legal context, surely?! Allison is phenomenal isn't she?

AppleandRhubarbTart · 09/05/2022 10:39

Pyjamagame · 09/05/2022 10:38

Yes, he's very patronising. It's quite an interesting contrast with Stephen Lue's I'm really stupid me schtick the other week.

Pluvia · 09/05/2022 10:44

AH using the phrase 'rest assured' as a threat. Allison's explanation of the clerks' situation is interesting. I find AH's suggestion that in a group of maybe 30-40 people word wouldn't have filtered down and there wouldn't have been gossip and discussion disingenuous. Anyone who's ever worked in a small organisation will know about the power dynamics involved.

Manderleyagain · 09/05/2022 10:48

When I initially heard about the case I thought that Stonewall was a major client of the Garden Court, but it turns out that in terms of revenue they were not a client at all. Yet in her statement Allison describes how some in the chambers dissed an actual client who had written to support Allison.
It is all very odd and unprofessional. They have even lost the ability to do bland corporate responses (which I assume they had before) when it comes to this issue. They didn't reply even to significant people who supported her. Not even a 'thank you for your email, this is a sensitive area, we are all learning, and we always welcome your thoughts' blah blah. I guess they really didn't want to encourage any kind of conversation with the people who supported Allison's right to speak.
Similarly when they published the tweets saying she was being investigated. Not a neutral holding notice, just anti-allison. No thinking about her rights as the person being complained about.

Why aren't they more mature?

Pluvia · 09/05/2022 10:49

AH is citing Kristina Eleftheriou (spelling ?) because she's a lowly clerk and he's trying to suggest that Allison is being horrid by naming her in the suit. Trying to make Allison out as the Bad Person and trying to make it sound as if her career will be blighted.
