Just to clarify, I was feeling bad about steering the thread away from Mr Blobby back to Mr (less blobby?) Gunn.

I agree Mr Blobby (natal or self-identified) is of more interest.

Yup. And on occasion he stood in the place where the CGI Groot would be. Truly playing to his talents, I suspect - slightly easier for the actors to work with than a pair of eyeballs on a stick. He didn't do the voice, though. that would require acting
