Maybe they might now receive some insight into what it has been like for Jk Rowling then.

supercritter · 17/11/2021 10:56

everything is never enought for them

Vanishun · 17/11/2021 10:56

Be interesting to see how fast and hard they grovel.

Hoardasurass · 17/11/2021 11:00

Maybe they will learn that when it comes to TRAs nothing other than complete capitulation in all aspects of life will save you from the purity spiral and even then its not a guarantee

SocialConnection · 17/11/2021 11:01

'trying to please a crowd that will never be pleased' is one of the comments.

Like an abuser who, no matter how carefully you walk on eggshells, will always turn.

Do we feel sorry for them? Trying to position themselves safely and protect themselves by saying safe things? When we all know the consequences of saying no?

Do we criticise them? Would we do the same in their position? Would we stand fast and stick to our beliefs?

And now they get a taste of their own medicine. Good.

zafferana · 17/11/2021 11:02

Well they are fucking hypocrites, so can't say I weep any tears for them. Attack JK Rowling, but continue to happily pocket millions from playing and milking their connection to the characters she created.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 17/11/2021 11:14

Oh no…

What a shame….

Eyesofdisarray · 17/11/2021 11:25

Oh dearie me.......

Chersfrozenface · 17/11/2021 11:27

Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.

BaronessWrongCrowdRex · 17/11/2021 11:30

I’m trying to muster up some sympathy but failing.

MoltenLasagne · 17/11/2021 11:31

I dare say that the TRAs have a point here. They were very willing to be morally outraged when it meant throwing a friend under the bus, but now it may impact their own pocket suddenly they're not so sure. Did someone say luxury beliefs?

Fukuraptor · 17/11/2021 11:32

It's tough to be openly GC in that industry. But I really wish they could have said "I disagree with Jo's conclusions on this matter [if they do] but my experience of her and her work is that she is anti-prejudice and I believe she is sincere when she says that she supports trans people being able to live as they wish in peace and dignity. Jo's concerns are about the impact on women and girls from changes to legislation and though I disagree [if they do] I respect her right to express her opinion on this issue, because the safety of women and girls is something I also care about."

Or similar. It was the way they piled in and made it seem like what she was accused of was justified.

Anyway, I have always been a bigger fan of the book series than the film franchise anyway Grin they are like the action movie adaptation that doesn't have the screen time to get into the character development, mysteries, the social commentary, wit and humour of the books.

I'd love them to eventually get a series per book (and longer series for the longer books) as His Dark Materials has done.

MonsignorMirth · 17/11/2021 11:37

I wouldn't be too sure that Radcliffe et al genuinely give a shit what trans people think? They have to say the right words but I'd be surprised if they were personally affected.
Not that that really means anything in the court of Twitter, though.

ExceptionalAssurance · 17/11/2021 11:37

Would take a heart of stone not to giggle.

Helleofabore · 17/11/2021 11:37

The hyperbole of IWilloughby’s tweet is so thick you can walk on it. As expected.

But of course Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson can be described as having luxury beliefs. I will be getting popcorn to see how they reverse that ferret over the next 24 hours.

Hopefully they will have learned a valuable lesson that this mob cannot be appeased now.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 17/11/2021 11:43

True. But they could also have refused to comment. They could even have said something pro-trans without putting the knife into JKR. They chose to denounce her.

BraveBananaBadge · 17/11/2021 11:45

Oh dear. Wondered what that was about when it was mentioned in the other thread.

It's as if these people expect everyone else to be thinking of nothing else but trans issues every minute of the day. Whereas it seems the Potter kids probably haven't given it any substantial thought since throwing JKR under the bus.

Helleofabore · 17/11/2021 11:45

I though Grint did try to fence sit. I am happy to told i am wrong though.

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 11:49

Yep. For once, I am actually in accord with the TRAs. These people are willing to toss aside their principles according to which way the wind blows.

First they chuck the woman who made their careers under the bus to pretend to virtue signal, then they chuck those principles to chase money.

aliasundercover · 17/11/2021 11:51

I thought India wasn’t trans now - didn’t India describe Indiaself as ‘cis’?

NewlyGranny · 17/11/2021 11:52

I have turned out my pockets but find I'm fresh out of sympathy. Then I remember that, were it not for EW telling me, I would never have known it was OK for me as a feminist to wear heels and makeup sometimes. Gosh, I'm torn. I owe her so much...

SirSamuelVimes · 17/11/2021 11:52

Oh dear what a pity never mind.

Tossers, the lot of them.

(I also want a fully fleshed out series per book! Come on Netflix, make it happen)

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/11/2021 11:59

We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy - Albus Dumbledore

JK took the path of right.
DR and EW took what appeared to be the easy route. Now they've lost both sides of the debate.

Fools.

Best tweet there? I vote for:
