Good I find that hilarious the trans lobby really are deluded!

'Don't give it if you can't take it' as my mum always says

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 17/11/2021 16:24

I would shed tears but I'm all out of onions.

GatoradeMeBitch · 17/11/2021 16:39

Well, it's because a lot of the "ally" types have announced that supporting Harry Potter is absolutely fine because... they like it. So they agree to the group lie that Harry Potter belongs to everyone, like they're personally getting royalties cheques every month.

"Hi guys! Now it goes without saying that it is my dearest wish that She Who Must Not Be Named unalives herself soon and makes the world a better place, we absolutely do not and never will stan that terfy piece of filth. Now let me show you the new additions to my wand collection, yes, I finally got a Dumbledore!"

I used to follow some "creators" on YouTube who turned me off with all this stuff. A five minute rant on how passionately they detest JK Rowling followed by showing off their Harry Potter book collection, or their Harry Potter Halloween display. Verbal abuse all day every day, that's great. But having to inconvenience yourself even slightly for your so-called principles? Triggering...

HoardingFloralBuntingInACervix · 17/11/2021 16:42

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

GatoradeMeBitch · 17/11/2021 16:43

They were very willing to be morally outraged when it meant throwing a friend under the bus

Not even just a friend. She gifted all of them their acting careers. Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe in particular should keep a JK Rowling shrine in their mansions for daily thanks giving.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 17/11/2021 16:50

I've just noticed on Instagram that JKR has posted acknowledging that they're reuniting for the HBO programme.

That's what a genuine ethical adult looks like. Puts the whole lot of them to shame.

JellySaurus · 17/11/2021 17:46

A five minute rant on how passionately they detest JK Rowling followed by showing off their Harry Potter book collection,

It's transactional. By reciting the catechism they have bought permission to like JKR's work .

megletthesecond · 17/11/2021 17:50

I did raise an eyebrow about it. Maybe they'll learn a tough lesson and and understand where JK is coming from now.

MrsWooster · 17/11/2021 18:16

@ExceptionalAssurance

Would take a heart of stone not to giggle.
Came here to say this. Hypocriteus Maximus.
Datun · 17/11/2021 18:17

Crikey, such hypocrisy. And of course, they will never be pure enough. Because it's not about purity, it's about dominating.

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 17/11/2021 19:15

Oh say it isn't so? Who on earth could have predicted this outcome?

AnyFucker · 17/11/2021 19:25

Well, colour me shocked Halo

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 17/11/2021 19:37

I wouldn't be too sure that Radcliffe et al genuinely give a shit what trans people think? They have to say the right words but I'd be surprised if they were personally affected.

This. As if they give a fuck.

They had to come out and repeat the TWAW mantra in the wake of JKR's essay to ensure that they escaped the mob, but in real life I doubt they care what trans people think. Especially when money is involved.

RedDogsBeg · 17/11/2021 19:45

@ExceptionalAssurance

Would take a heart of stone not to giggle.
and I'm laughing like a drain.Grin

Couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.

MichelleScarn · 17/11/2021 19:53

@MargaritaPie

I hadn't realised there was a HBO series thing being made with the original actors.

They will probably be paid an absolute fortune for starring in this, so I can understand why they might suddenly forget about anyone's political views when accepting the role.

I think the purity spiral from EW, RG and DR will be a martyrdom fuelled, "we did it for the Potterheads, sullied ourselves for all of you, see the Wizarding World belongs to YOU! Not for SHe who ShaLL nOT bE nAmED, absolve me!! " (now wheres my paycheck 🤑🤑🤑)
WhereYouLeftIt · 17/11/2021 20:12

Sometimes, the stars align!

This 20th anniversary - the date was obviously a fixed point. But time-wise there's lot of stuff going on, isn't there? Stonewall is no longer the unassailable untouchable LGBTQWERTY charity. Fingers are being pointed at the lobby group they are. Questions are being asked. Sunlight is being shone.

A lot of water has gone under that bridge since the little scrotes threw JK under the bus. They did that when JK was pretty much a lone voice. Now ... not so much.

I have to wonder if they feel quite as righteous now. They probably do, I'd expect them to live inside echo chambers. But still I wonder if they have the self-awareness to be asking themselves - 'Am I on the right side of history?' .

MichelleScarn · 17/11/2021 20:16

Is Tom Felton on it? Really should check, is he not one of the only younger cast members who didn't denounce JK? Him and the guy who played Neville really!

Constance1 · 17/11/2021 20:31

Daniel Radcliffe has at least positively mentioned JK in his contribution www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/people/daniel-radcliffe-says-harry-potter-author-jk-rowling-is-an-immensely-intelligent-funny-kind-human-being-3460282

CheeseMmmm · 17/11/2021 20:40

I find this so interesting.

The speed and extent to which they turn on those who had up until that point been supporters.

The guardian is seen as extremely anti trans as is the BBC. These individuals.

They seem determined to lose their friends, essentially.

In this case. These people are actors. Doing this will make them lots of money. And you know. Maybe they really want to. Get back to that story, work again with those actors they essentially grew up with. Maybe they feel really passionate about the script. Maybe they want to round off the story, do something with the character.

I mean I'm not an actor and it's prob cash but you know. It's up to them. I mean it's not like they're going off to sell arms to North Korea or run a whaling ship or whatever.

How Widespread is the shock horror and is it just on Twitter? Twitter is not real life nowhere near and I think some on the tend to forget that.

If it does gain traction more mainstream they'll be regretting that virtue signalling...

The thing they need to do / at some point have done is apologise to jkr. Who made their careers. Apologise in private not more public stuff.

With SM esp Twitter well mainly Twitter. So many people have lost the plot. No consideration. No reflection. Just splurge out whatever. It's across the board. The amount of people like politicians, celebrities, police saying things that are blatently misjudged/ outrageous is incredible.

CheeseMmmm · 17/11/2021 20:43

I think everyone needs to remember how to say no comment and mean it.

And the news etc needs to get back into the real world.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 17/11/2021 21:12

Wow, that's a bit of a reversal Constance! Ferreting like mad.... wonder if some people have finally realised what they've been supporting?

CheeseMmmm · 17/11/2021 21:23

I had a look at what DR said at the time. What I found he spoke through a charity. I'm not sure he really went for her. But still. The fact is they must all know her really well. Did they think for a minute, hmm. Is she the sort of person who is likely to be actively hostile to a minority group? Or did they get bombarded with requests for comment. And said the 'right' thing.

With this topic in the end.

However much support is given its never good enough.
No response saying terrible is taken as hate.

People need to step back. Start using their brains. Pause reflect. Talk to people irl.

Thing is with no debate and the insistence that anyone with questions or doubts literally wants a whole group executed by the state...

It's a big old mess really.

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 22:06

Wow to that reversal from Radcliffe. That's really quite a turn-around.

Childrenofthestones · 17/11/2021 22:19

Sounds like Churchills crocodile finally ate them.

ItsLittoralViolins · 17/11/2021 22:53

I couldn't agree more, @CheeseMmmm. And I get the impression from that Edinburgh News article linked above that this has probably already happened from DR.
