I had the pleasure of sharing a train carriage with two enbies this morning. I know they were enbies on account that they were clearly female teenagers with blue short back and sides and wearing stereotypically boys' clothes.

Oh and the fact they talked about nothing but being enby and their pronouns for the whole journey loudly enough for everyone else to hear.

They are past tense forms of the verb "to be", not pronouns. Kids eh.

My psychiatrist has recently added he/him pronouns to his LinkedIn bio. How am I meant to take him seriously now 😆

Heavily tempted to notify the mental health services that in their correspondence about me, they should refer to me as she/they/xie in a strict but non-patterned 7:3:1 ratio, to respect, honour and validate my unique genderblend.

If my colleagues are into judo I'm not required to refer to them by their belt colour, and at least that only changes every few months.

Nobody can possibly expect this to be honoured. It's a fucking kids' game with a really nasty manipulative edge.

I know realise that I have not been honouring my delicate intersections. Nor have I been recognising the multitudes within me (except perhaps when I was expecting the twins!).

Or could it just be, having pushed for people to respect their chosen pronouns and found that, by and large, people are happy to make the effort and lovingly comply, the challenge has to be made harder and harder until someone stumbles and victimhood can be claimed?

Perhaps one set of pronouns is too easy to learn and starts to become mundane, so having a range to choose from ensures the desired attention every day, as people are forced to check in with the pronouned one's menu?

Can you switch pronouns at lunchtime to catch people out? What happens if the person loses track of which set is current? How does any actual work get done if the whole workplace is playing pronoun tiptoe? What happens if a pronouned one gets another pronouned one's pronouns wrong? Do they play top victim trumps?

So much potential.
