It’s not SELF indulgent, because it’s everyone else having to do the indulging! Pronouns are for use by other people when referring to you. I I am getting to the point where I think we drop them altogether and use everyone’s name all the time, in the interests of avoiding unintended offence or having our speech or written communication as the basis for a non-crime hate incident being recorded against us.

I thought I had a good vocabulary but neopronouns were a new one, as was cisheteronormative understanding. I might be willing to embrace divine femininity if I knew what it was , but mostly I am so relieved that I am an old bat who is happy in her skin and doesn’t have to fill up brain space with navel gazing wokeness. It must be exhausting self affirming yourself into a new vocabulary every few months.

They (geddit?) are just inventing these new words as they go along.

I know. I frequently want to say to my allegedly non binary child, "your" pronouns are me/I or you when someone is talking to you. You don't actually call yourself she/he/they do you?? FFS.

At the end of the day, as a non-binary person, I’m not sure if any combination of pronouns can truly encapsulate my boy dyke faggotry, but so far he/they has worked for me, and I’m thankful for that.

I now prefer she/her and he/him pronouns used interchangeably. They/them is great as a safe catch-all when people are unsure. I am a girl and a boy, and I want that to be known.

So that’ll be my answer then when/if I’m asked at a meeting to ‘state your pronouns’ - “I don’t do pronouns, please always refer to me by my name thanks’. And in an email signature I can just put ‘none’. And if this is queried I’ll forward them a copy of this article and tell them to educate themselves

I'm not even sure you are allowed to ask, you have to either check to make sure they don't have the information over multiple badges or, and this is by far the preferred option, you should just sense it and therefore know exactly how they are going at that exact moment.
