I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

These contributions are grand. Is 13:00 about OK with the drinks and little bits available from 12:30?

I've got yet more chorizo and air-dried ham but have recently taken delivery of smoked cow cheese and smoked sheep cheese as well as manchego.

Is it fusion or confusion if I dig out some halloumi for someone to griddle?

highame · 27/06/2021 13:16

I'm going to nominate that the table over there for the virtue signallers, just in case one pops in by mistake. It's the one near oldbadgers ranty corner

lazylinguist · 27/06/2021 13:20

I am very much not a halloumi fan, but griddle away! Forgive me if I get over-enthusiastic after a few Sangrias and embarrassingly start showing off my French or Spanish (or quite possibly a confused mixture of both, depending on how many I've had).

Olderbadger1 · 27/06/2021 14:15

We're ready for them Highame and the feisty woman from the California spa has joined us. Plus we are all getting increasingly pissed.

lazylinguist · 27/06/2021 14:44

Wow, she is feisty!

JustcameoutGC · 27/06/2021 14:47

Can we veto the word feisty. Only ever applied to women, and only serves to divert attention away from the points women are trying to make and towards the manner is which we make them (and while we are at it can we ban gazpacho, it is rank)

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/06/2021 14:47

There's so much to talk about - any problems if this whole shebang segues into an evening do?

The food won't be massively different but I'll be able to char and griddle some vegetables later so people have a change from the pastries, bread, dairy, meat and eggs if they wish.

Sophoclesthefox · 27/06/2021 14:53

I’d missed that the pub was open again!

Chin chin, vipers, bottoms up 🥂

The pub does excellent Sunday roasts, IIRC. Being awful feminazis, the roast on offer today is Roast Misogynist. Served in his own juice.

Anyone? Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 27/06/2021 14:57

That sounds singularly unappetising!

Re gazpacho... in normal times I might concur with JustCameOutAsGC . But raw garlic has the virtue of enforcing social distancing so perhaps it should be encouraged?

I totally see your point about 'feisty' actually. But not about gazpacho - it's delicious!

Grin Sophocles, at least there will be plenty to go round, and more than enough leftovers.

NewYearNewTwatName · 27/06/2021 15:04

I'll just have a dry white please and packet of cheese and onion crisps.

sad to see another trans widow thread pop up, but heartened to see AIBU standing by the trans widows.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/06/2021 15:04

In this FODMAP household, a bunch of items such as allicins like garlic or onions are available on the side and to be added to a base rather than everything being served fully loaded.

As it is, there are people who can only take tomato/gazpacho in relatively tiny servings. This has been a major difficulty for someone who spent years frying onions and garlic before making up her mind fully about what form dinner was going to take and who is inordinately fond of tomato.

I may sidle in somewhere and have some roast potatoes. tbh, I'll also eye up any Yorkshire Puddings but should probably leave them alone.

ArabellaScott · 27/06/2021 15:36

Oh my god, not cannibalism again.

No wonder everyone complains about Mumsnet, you drop by looking for a pushchair and before you can say 'nipple shield', it's gone all Soylent Green.

highame · 27/06/2021 15:48

Justcameout get thee to the ranty table.

Have just mowed my lawn and suddenly the clouds have burst. My lucky day. Fortunately it's not raining at the Bluestocking so I think I'll just give the flower beds a quick strim

Wtf would you want to strim our lovely flowerbeds? ConfusedShockBy all means do some gardening - there's always weeding, pest control and digging tasks.

Are you one of those people who puts a lovely finish by strimming the edges and then taking a trowel to the edges to firm and neaten the soil edge? (I sometimes see that in NGS open gardens and it does look very good.)

Does the Bluestocking have NGS-worthy garden and wilderness areas or do we leave that to BF and we have a ticket where we wonder in and out of gardens and admire them all?

highame · 27/06/2021 16:10

Unfortunately my lawn looks like a badgers arse Embarrassing I was just being a virtual gardener which means I am more skilled than Monty Don

Thelnebriati · 27/06/2021 16:11

I own a lawn edger as it happens.

Sophoclesthefox · 27/06/2021 16:25

Don’t worry about the roast, it’s vat grown from cell technology. No actual live misogynists were harmed in the making!

Sophoclesthefox · 27/06/2021 16:27

My lawn is like a Damien Hirst dot painting, the joys of a female dog 🙄 it might look better if you edged it, Inebriati? It couldn’t look worse.

Thelnebriati · 27/06/2021 16:31

If I edge it I'll have to cut it and then the nekkid bits will show. I don't own a bitch - but I think I've got craneflies.

Sophoclesthefox · 27/06/2021 16:33

They’re a lot less cute and trainable Grin

Thelnebriati · 27/06/2021 16:36

lazylinguist · 27/06/2021 16:52

I wasn't aware that theBluestocking was the kind of establishment where nekkid bits were likely to be on show. Do we have a licence for that sort of thing?
