I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Moving your TV and belonging in to your locked room?

Buying noise cancelling headphones?

Oh I don't know, but making a bubble for yourself is needed.

alkanet · 08/08/2021 01:42

Just skulking in to bring damson gin & big bunch of sweet peas for Chickeny. Sorry, I couldn't give support earlier. I hope you have some strong women around you.💐

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 01:50

Thank you @Alkanet

They're all out tonight eh?

So I have both a trans daughter and a mosquito currently eating me alive. 4 bites so far. Sodding thing. I'm going to look like Mr Blobby by the morning and I despise him.

SpringCrocus · 08/08/2021 03:19

Yep, thinking about moving tv and also changing internet password, as I pay for it.
Bit provocative, maybe?
Also, just moving into caravan, outside. But seems a retrogade step, tbh and not so comfy!

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 03:21

Definitely keep your room. It has a lock and is in your house. And Definitely move the TV. Not sure on Internet, maybe next time they gang up. Flowers

ablutiions · 08/08/2021 07:27

Did someone mention cheese and marmite straws?

ablutiions · 08/08/2021 07:31

@Chickenyhead use the hairdryer on the bites. A tip I got from MN - you blow dry each bite until it's just too hot to handle. Wait a minute then do it again. Kills the itch. Really works.

Can't say there is a similar magic cure for over talking family though Sad

I had similar this week, but my snapping to shut them up, resulted in DH sulking and leaving the room. For the whole evening 💁‍♀️

Something I saw on MN but haven't tracked down - there are routers you can control from your phone. Yes, you could block access to others if it came to it.

I'll be baking some breakfast pastries and stuff over the next hour - I'll put them on the counter.
Turned · 08/08/2021 09:35

Just putting the coffee on for spring and anyone else who stayed last night. Those sandwiches look good too, thank you Embarrassing.

SpringCrocus · 08/08/2021 10:50

Mmmm bacon sandwiches!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 08/08/2021 18:03

There's a range of sausages (vegan through to usual), some potato bakes, baked potato, mash etc. plus assorted vegetables and gravies available from 18:30.

Please help yourself.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 18:13

Mmmmmmmmm yum thank you so much.

How are you today Spring?

Thanks for the hairdryer trick. Seemed to work.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 08/08/2021 18:24

Before I forget - router apps.

The WiFi Blocker app will change the way you WiFi and control your home network. With WiFi Blocker you can block any individual or group of devices from internet access, find your WiFi passwords, see who’s online, group devices into profiles for easy control and organise your network. At the push of a button your children are offline. The ideal parental control companion.

I'll make some toddies if anyone is up for one.

EmbarrassingAdmissions Yes please, I've just dashed in, very soggy and hoping for one. Rather disconcerting to want one in August but this emotion has become all too familiar in recent years and I care not it's summer!
Whisky, lemon and cloves when piping hot often does the trick.

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 18:46

Having found my glasses I realise that I'm a day late for Embarrassing's hot toddies. I shall stud some lemons and if anyone else would like one do say.

I'm entirely up for an early start on the toddies this evening.

Grey, wet, grim. - We definitely need something to keep spirits high.

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 19:17

Wonderful! I've found a number of jars of honey. How do you like your toddy?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 08/08/2021 19:30

Heavy on the lemon and honey, please. Maybe a tsp of herbs like lemon thyme?

Thank you.

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 19:45

Adding lemon thyme is a genius idea, I shall go and find some.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 08/08/2021 20:07

I saw the Red Arrows today. There I was, minding my business in a field, and over they went.

I've got some Ice Cider. It's DH's latest booze discovery and it's amazing.

Waitwhat23 · 08/08/2021 21:12

Just looked up ice cider - ooh, looks good! And gets you pished quicker.

SpringCrocus · 08/08/2021 21:38

Unfortunately, despite me being the account holder and having an app to log other uses out, H has gained overall control via his computer of the router. He got in first, when we got a new router, and changed the password and won't tell me what it is. He does this type of shit with any tech, he has to have control 🙄

I need to talk to the provider and get it reset and emailed just to me, so he can't pull that kind of shit anymore

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 08/08/2021 21:56

The toddies have been excellent, thank you.

I'm picking up some colourful expressions that were previously unknown to me from the 'My son found a toddler' thread. Paraphrasing:

Who put 50p in the dickhead?

Go away with your punched tit for a soul will ya

Even better than the recently acquired comment on what it's like to be in a rarified group (via Glinner - and a very rough paraphrase):

They're so high huffing their own farts they don't know it's time to crack the windows and change the air to come down.

I know that we have Camilla and her little ways but it made today feel like being in an actual pub.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 08/08/2021 22:06

Ished cider goes down ver quick...

Oh yuh. Brought my dogs? That okay?*

*One of them is a wonderful waste food disposal unit.
