I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Oooh chips! Thank you. I’ve been listening to Posie podcasts in the car, and Glinner with JDW whilst cooking dinner. I now need to find a quiet corner to sit in with a cold drink and a guitar whilst I try to make sense of it all.

eels I had a lovely Thank you pop up after donating to them earlier this week.

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 00:01

A vat of alcohol please

Just got ultra woke mid twenties DD back from Uni for the next 12 weeks.

Two hours in, cue a screaming tantrum from her, because I (very gently and politely) wouldn't go along with her quite aggressively demands about a gender issue.
She is high functioning ASD, but goddess, she's doing a PhD, has lived independently for the last 6 years, seems to be able to cope irl

Why do I get the screaming? And wtf should I have to agree TW are W?

She has a biology degree and MSc, ffs. She knows you can't change sex

oh, and she now has blue hair. Not that I'm bothered. Which I think is what annoyed her the most!

Alcohol. All the alcohol, please.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2021 00:09

Coming up....

And if you don't mind me asking, AutumnCrocus ...were you SpringCrocus yesterday and have aged six months, or are there a pair of bloomers here?

theThreeofWeevils · 02/07/2021 00:10

Alcohol, topped off with alcohol, a cherry and a jaunty wee umbrella, AutumnCrocus. More where that came from.
Making a joke to her about holding her breath until her hair turned blue probably wouldn't be politic, but you can fantasise.

theThreeofWeevils · 02/07/2021 00:12

are there a pair of bloomers here?
What a very indiscreet question.

Olderbadger1 · 02/07/2021 00:30

When I was in school (a naice gals school for naice gals in case you were wondering) we had to wear two pairs of knickers. White cotton underneath and furry navy ones on top WITH A POCKET. Never quite worked that out.

Olderbadger1 · 02/07/2021 00:32

(Not actually furry you understand - heavyweight brushed cotton stuff. Quite scratchy as I recall.)

theThreeofWeevils · 02/07/2021 00:42

Our regulation knickers were elephant grey. No pocket, as I recall.

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 02:26

I couldn't possibly confirm or deny if I'd aged six months with my user name.
Tbh, I feel like I've aged ten years, today!

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 02:28

Don't understand the bloomers reference, tbh? Anyone care to elucidate?

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 02:33

And yy to heavy blue serge knickers for Games at my naice girls grammar school

theThreeofWeevils · 02/07/2021 02:52

See Errol's post of 00:09
I recommend a nightcap - not regulation issue - and wish you good luck, and resilience/elasticity (entirely unrelated to knickers).

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2021 08:33

I made an innocent remark in relation to two similar flower names....

Spring crocus = one bloomer Autumn crocus = one bloomer 1+1=2. Two blooms = one pair of bloomers.

Can you tell I work in a primary school? Grin

Incidentally, is it wrong to snigger when a child writes about Willie Wanka's chocolate factory?

Offering egg and bacon butties for breakfast this morning.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2021 08:41

It'd be wrong not to snigger at that.
Mmm I can smell the bacon from over here...

bloody school knickers Autumn did we go to the same school? I will be having nightmares tonight. Gym slips and obligatory sash (of house colours). All waiting with bated breath for the judgement? Not TAAT

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 10:41

Oh yes, house sashes!

Sniggers at Willie Wanka
swipes a bacon butty

I'm awaiting deletion, tbh. Suspect talking about blue hair is verboten.

highame · 02/07/2021 10:55

Tell them you meant 'blue rinse'

SelfPortraitWithEels · 02/07/2021 11:14

Morning. Have just popped in to take some dirty glasses outside and hurl them against the wall while shrieking "Fuck the patriarchy!" Anyone fancy joining me? It was either that or kick the camel, and she doesn't deserve it.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/07/2021 11:17

I've time for a swift coffee and I will revisit yesterday's biscotti (the pistachio ones in particular store very well).

I'm so sad about some of today's news (I realise that doesn't disambiguate it).

However, breathe, recover in the company of friends, gird the loins and back out to the fray.

I'm no Dolittle. Can someone reassure the camel that we shall not be coercing her into being a battle steed?

SelfPortraitWithEels · 02/07/2021 11:27

[Slinks inside, gets dustpan and brush, waves to Embarrassing and the camel rather sheepishly, crams mouth with morale-boosting biscotti, slinks back outside to clear up...]

highame · 02/07/2021 11:45

All is not lost vipers. Also, isn't it time we got ourselves a keeper with knowledge of camels because I'm not sure buckets of Pimms and biscotti are in it's best interest. Perhaps Whipsnade could provide us with a suitable factotum, especially as we have all sorts knocking about in the garden (including Grumpy)

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 02/07/2021 13:01

I don't 'knock about', thank you. I get on with things. I'll go and find a book on camel keeping. There used to be a great one on sheep called The TV Vet Sheep Book.

If you kick the camel (she needs a name, I would suggest Camilla) she will kick back.

Eels how many did you break? Need a hand sweeping up?

AutumnCrocus · 02/07/2021 13:20

Disappointed at this morning's news.

I cleaned out the camels stable. (Needed to do something to slake my annoyance.)
Have started a large compost area round the back.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/07/2021 14:22

I've had some san marzarno tomatoes delivered - they'll be plain but if I start heating the oven now, I can have a happy evening preparing pizza, roasted vegetables etc. in the garden.

No very fancy toppings - I do have mushrooms and the basics.

If anyone wants meat or seafood on theirs then they'll need to bring it.

It's up to people if they want to fall face first in a pineapple pizza - no judgment - but, again, BYO.
