I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Discreetly slips camel cheese & onion crisps. For the separation anxiety. The poor thing seems to be missing Grumpy.

CriticalCondition · 28/06/2021 22:56

Just popping in for a late night snifter to celebrate the latest on Maya's case. Feeling very chipper after some good family news today so I'll have a double. And some more crisps for the camel.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/06/2021 22:59

I may have read too much TP
Impossible. We were left too soon, wanting more.
(It's not required reading because there's no accounting for taste ,or lack thereof, but the pub does have a full set in addition to the feminist canon. )

camel cheese & onion crisps

Is that missing a comma?

I just found an old TP book yesterday and realised my DS is yet to start the Discworld novels. Both delighted for him and jealous.

Olderbadger1 · 28/06/2021 23:15

@EmbarrassingAdmissions

There's a thread about Maya's news Olderbadger1 - but I'll happily fork out for a pint.
How kind! I would have been here earlier but the pork scratchings were playing up.

And thanks for the heads-up about the change to the corners Arabella. Having spent a few moments with the camel I realise my error.

Olderbadger1 · 28/06/2021 23:17

and cheers to you too Errol. What a splendid bunch of wimbats you are to be sure. Though I'm still not sure about the camel.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/06/2021 23:34

As a contemporary events quiz for us all, might I suggest playing, Spot the well known figures and news stories in this montage

twitter.com/moleatthedoor/status/1409557934221185035

Round of applause for all of the up-to-the-moment inclusions.

WoolOfBat · 28/06/2021 23:42

I need a stiff drink… happy to be among you vipers here!

Olderbadger1 · 29/06/2021 00:49

The vipers are not a problem Wool but I'd watch out for the farting camel. Hope the drink helped.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/06/2021 01:14

This Susan is lazy... HSD mainly with a good dollop of autism.

My kid used to be practicing to be a cannibal with the amount of bites taken out on the sibling.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 29/06/2021 06:45

I've popped in to put the Camel in the beer garden so the farts don't suffocate you all. He (she? I must check...) is currently eating the trees.

I took the liberty of ordering some of JDW's stuff to decorate the saloon bar.

lazylinguist · 29/06/2021 07:52

. I've brought bagels, a large pot of English Breakfast and some coffee. .

Cheers for the Maya news, OlderBadger1 - a belated pint for you!

highame · 29/06/2021 07:56

So, where do the Ranty Farts sit?

FannyCann · 29/06/2021 08:10

Late to the part as always. DD has returned for the summer holidays with her vegan intersectional feminism.
Is it too early for something bracing? Make it a Bloody Mary with lots of Worcester sauce and a good grind of pepper please.

Also I bring a big poster for combined quiz and darts night. Prizes TBC.

Isn't it fabulous! I adore that spa dudebro is in there already. Somebody was asking about the politician with the body con dress recently - and, Ta Da.

Mole has such a talent for this.

SirSamuelVimes · 29/06/2021 09:30

Morning all. I had a curry last night so I'm off to join the camel in the farting corner for a bit.

Olderbadger1 · 29/06/2021 09:42

@highame

So, where do the Ranty Farts sit?
outside
BlackeyedSusan · 29/06/2021 11:16

I am enjoying listening to the rants, here outside, socially distanced of course, simultaneously trying to sit neither downwind or upwind... we're all in a ranty line....

Turned · 29/06/2021 13:37

Afternoon. I've just given the camel a couple of mints. I'll have a coffee and a slice of fruit cake please, then I'll join the ranty line and learn some more. This place is doing wonders for my critical thinking.
The last TP I read was the Tiffany Aching series, which I read with my dd. Once I've finished my current Robert Galbraith I shall return to Discworld, starting with Equal Rites I think.

Waitwhat23 · 29/06/2021 14:16

I read a bit of a Discworld book out loud at the dinner table, after we've eaten. It's meant to be for the benefit of the baby but really, it's for us. We're doing it chronologically and currently on Pyramids. I've got a pretty wide vocabulary but there's some words Pratchett uses in the series that I've never heard of, let alone know the pronunciation which makes it tricky when you're reading aloud!

Anyway, just done something to further the cause so having a celebratory g+t in the sunshine.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 29/06/2021 16:07

Knocking up some vegetables for tonight (marinading and stuff) and putting up some bread doughs (special high fibre one, special high protein one, sour cream one for toasting) before the next meeting.

Any special requests while I've got my apron on?

Olderbadger1 · 29/06/2021 16:58

I was going to try to have a night off but the sour cream toasted bread is just too tempting Embarrassing. Even the camel is drooling.

ArabellaScott · 29/06/2021 17:02

Wow, Embarrassing, can I hire you as my personal caterer?

Also, I would like some Pimms in a bucket, please.

highame · 29/06/2021 17:05

Watch out for all that fibre, you'll be outside all night and even the camel might take offence. I have ear defenders y'all can borrow. I sometimes speak American

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 29/06/2021 17:17

I have household members who are prescribed very binding medications. They can't or won't drink metamucil and don't get on with other preparations. They can manage a bread roll or muffin with 20g+ of fibre a time - and given the age and frailty of the people involved, it's about the right number of calories for them as well, without suppressing their appetite for food with adequate nutrition and enjoyment.

I will admit, however, that I own a fullbore pressure gun for a reason and that I'm probably one of the few people in the UK who has to pre-emptively pressure gun out all of the household loos every month. not Envy
