Just as title says.

I can’t even see feminist chat

midgemagneto · 21/06/2021 13:50

Because they are just doing the changes?

bellinisurge · 21/06/2021 13:50

Because there is a desperate attempt to kettle women's voices into a corner. Fearful of losing advertising and getting "cancelled " by the incels

Beamur · 21/06/2021 13:50

I'd guess that the chat forum is going as part of the re-jig of this area. Several of the threads I'm on have been retitled.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 21/06/2021 13:50

What a joke.

MarshaBradyo · 21/06/2021 13:51

Fark

So no take on feminism in title

What expletives

timeisnotaline · 21/06/2021 13:52

Well this is a bit shit. There’s no acknowledgment of how fundamental this is from mumsnet is there?

DialSquare · 21/06/2021 13:53

I've got Feminism Chat saved as a favourite but when I go into the subject, everything is now headed Sex and Gender Debate.

KihoBebiluPute · 21/06/2021 13:54

The feminist chat area is currently completely empty. Presumably all existing chat topics are being screened to identify subjects which can be discussed which are relevant to feminism but which have no aspects where sex or gender is relevant to the discussion. I am interested to find out which topics will be allowed there.

WotgunShedding · 21/06/2021 13:55

The link is still www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/

MarshaBradyo · 21/06/2021 13:55

Does anyone else want Feminism in the title?

timeisnotaline · 21/06/2021 13:56

Can we just have a naming convention where we name all posts in this section as FAWR: ‘post title’? Or perhaps something extra, something like in the ledgers of history you will be listed with the cowards who sold their sisters down the river to ‘be kind’?

SirSamuelVimes · 21/06/2021 13:56

Fucks sake. So we've had the word feminism taken away from us. And given to whom?

somethinginoffensive · 21/06/2021 13:56

Nice that Mumsnet listens to its users. I look forward to the interesting feminist chat not about sex or gender. Grin

Manderleyagain · 21/06/2021 13:56

I hope it will still be possible to search for old threads using the advanced search. This board is an important source of information on the campaign and I often use it to find the background to things, or like to things that i can remember but wouldn't know where to look otherwise. I think it's really important to keep that.

YellowFish12 · 21/06/2021 13:57

You know what really got me? On the thread about ‘why did feminism fall out of favour’ or whatever it was exactly called - so many women saying they didn’t realise the inequalities until after they had children. Until after they were mums.

And they are on here, on a site called bleeding ‘mumsnet’ but now can’t even talk about sex based issues as feminisms.

Nice one.

ofwarren · 21/06/2021 13:58

Why does it not have Feminism in the title of this board now??

33feethighandrising · 21/06/2021 13:58

Mumsnet have being trying to "solve" the problem of feminists having actual feminist debate for years. This is just the latest version.

Justine seems to think that lots of people hiding the feminist section is a problem. I think it's proof that lots of people don't want to engage in feminism, and you're never going to change that! Plus, people like the hide function.

Anyway, now they've hived us off into a separate section, how about those moderation rules are relaxed, in the light of the Maya Forstater result and also that the lib fems have their own section now so they can just ignore us. If they come here, they're trying to be offended, right?

I second this.

Well, that'll be interesting to see. I have my popcorn at the ready Grin

Mumsnet seem to think there's a world of people wanting to post about feminist topics that are fuck all to do with sex and gender, but have been scared off by us lot.

So, let's see what they want to use the new topic for then?

A facebook group set up in support of the Reclaim these Streets movement is all TWAW and pro sex work, and the other day they had a "sex worker" in it fucking recruiting for Only Fans. (Which is a pyramid scheme by the way).

The post was pulled eventually, but not before a long discussion normalising sex work and with the OP inviting people to DM her. The admins were slow to react because the think the feminist position is to support sex work. They mean well but it's a shit show because of their lack of understanding of basic feminist analysis.

purpleboy · 21/06/2021 14:09

I've only just noticed all the titles have been changed! So @MNHQ you really didn't bother listening to your users. It was repeatedly asked that feminism was left in the title, such a shame to see you've succumbed to the pressure.

timeisnotaline · 21/06/2021 14:10

Feminism and women’s rights seems to be the section name. I don’t like it, given one view of the debate is let’s hand women’s rights back and say thank you for the privilege.

DialSquare · 21/06/2021 14:12

They listened to some^^ users it seems.

PurpleHoodie · 21/06/2021 14:14

The ability to start a thread in "feminist chat" is now there.

However, all threads only go back as far as 2021.
