Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Can start a thread in Sex and Gender, but not Feminist Chat. Why is that?

Just as title says.

So, none of the alternative names suggested by members was given consideration. They just went with one that specifically makes the least sense and annoys the most.

Not to mention highlights the space we will be chatting in, making it far easier for any monitor to find us.

Own goal?

Or deliberate tactic to make us look worse, making it easier to shut us down completely?

Anyway, now they've hived us off into a separate section, how about those moderation rules are relaxed, in the light of the Maya Forstater result and also that the lib fems have their own section now so they can just ignore us. If they come here, they're trying to be offended, right?

Yup, those of a delicate disposition shouldn't be deliberately wandering in here to feign outrage and feel offended. I'd like to the see the posting rules in here relaxed so women can speak openly about their concerns.

MiladyBerserko · 21/06/2021 14:19

Let's be clear, when this issue is sorted - it will be sorted when the general population finally realise the implications of Gender Ideology, MNHQ will not claim to have helped women's right. Quite the opposite.

Corporate Lydiaism.

Cailleach1 · 21/06/2021 14:28

Should it be called feminism done in a 'feminine' way? No need to be related to the female sex either.

WinterIsGone · 21/06/2021 14:31

I'm totally confused. If most of the old posts are in Sex and Gender, and only a few in Feminism, why aren't the old posts kept in Feminism, and a new Be Kind section set up for the smaller number of posts?

(Doesn't Google hate changes like this, which means they'll move down the search algorithm?)

MidClrgs · 21/06/2021 14:34
The link is still www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/
Can someone archive the important threads before they're deleted? Safeguarding of children, the resources thread, it never happens etc. Sorry I can't do it. IT illiterate here..

ArabellaScott · 21/06/2021 14:35

well, this is shit, isn't it?

ArabellaScott · 21/06/2021 14:36

MidClrgs archiving has been happening. I thnk 'it never happens' was done.

If you want to pm me links to any of those other threads I will have a go at archiving.

MarshaBradyo · 21/06/2021 14:36

😂

I’m looking forward to all this posters who were so keen to start threads but we were stopping them somehow

JustcameoutGC · 21/06/2021 14:36

I don't agree with the changes, particularly as MNHQ have not been clear what they are supposed to achieve. However, this is only as big a deal as we make it and we have much bigger fish to fry atm than getting our knickers in a twist over some rearrangements of the board.

MidClrgs · 21/06/2021 14:37

@somethinginoffensive

Nice that Mumsnet listens to its users. I look forward to the interesting feminist chat not about sex or gender. Grin
It's the hugest feminist challenge of our times. When any man can call himself a female we've lost every feminist battle. Every single one.
SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 21/06/2021 14:38

So, all that time which so many women put into constructively engaging with an idea which had been floated seemingly off the top of MNHQ’s head halfway through a thread about a totally different issue and in response we get …. No response. And a fait accompli. (And no response to the thread the original query was about either, I note).

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

The level of disrespect to their own users is just breathtaking.

SpindleWhorl · 21/06/2021 14:38

Interesting thought. I like the idea of a free thinking and free speaking section, as per the actual law, without bad faith disruptors being allowed free rein.

I will promise equally not to show bad faith in any Lib Fem section.

littlbrowndog · 21/06/2021 14:41

I went into the threads I am on and suddenly discovered I was in a sex and gender place

Weird as

And here I am

Imnobody4 · 21/06/2021 14:42

A bit strange that the Feminist Chat board has lots of threads on it. Wasn't the argument that it had been squeezed out by discussions about sex and gender?

MidClrgs · 21/06/2021 14:43

@mnhq Can this forum not be called Gender Critical Feminism? GC is now a protected characteristic under the Equality Act.
You do already have a few discussion topics for LGBTQ+. It seems only fair that us GC Mums have our own space to talk about the beliefs we have and how these affect our daughters and sons. 🤍💜💚

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/06/2021 14:44

I'm slightly glad that all the old threads are still here - I was worried that the new sex/gender topic would be starting from scratch. As it is, I expect we'll all continue posting here as before, and that "Feminism" chat will be a bit tumbleweedy..

Especially so we can talk about the harm caused to our LGB children - hugely impacted by gender ideology as you know - as GC beliefs are a protected characteristic it seems fair.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/06/2021 14:46

@MidClrgs, @mnhq doesn't go anywhere. Suggest you report your post if you want MNHQ to see it.

Actually, I take that back - I see MNHQ have "sorted" the threads into the two new topics
MsMarvellous · 21/06/2021 14:47

But I can't favourite "sex & gender debate" and separating is total bullshit.

Agree, I was expecting to see just 1 or 2 threads... strange that there are so many isn't it.

Am I wrong to take heart in the fact that Sex has a capital letter and gender not?

And always was protected. We have been illegally discriminated against for quite a while. At the behest of bigots who want to misrepresent and shut down women's rights and free speech.
