Pride in London getting ratioed

I don't know what's happened, maybe the interns who delete the critical comments are off sick or something, but lesbians are taking issue with a Facebook post by Pride in London saying "Happy #LesbianVisibilityWeek! A week dedicated to celebrating and supporting all LGBTQI women and non binary people in our community" and it's glorious:

Have I got this right? Trans stories about their experiences have to be believed without question but anything from a lesbian is just pure lies?

Yes that sounds about right. Lesbians get back in your box.

aweegc · 27/04/2021 10:51

I'm amazed those comments haven't been deleted! The fact they're still standing is second only to their content! Pure bloody brilliant!

Yes the haters of lesbian women should be held to account MishyJDI but I think we might disagree on who they are. Lesbians are human females sexually attracted to the female body. So anyone who is not female cannot be included and to say otherwise is homophobic and should be condemned. I am sure everyone would agree?

But why even mention LGBTQ+ and so on?

"Great to celebrate lesbian recognition week" - job done. Anyone can like or identify with it too.

"Happy lesbian recognition week supporting all lesbian or gay or bisexual or transgender or queer or non binary or just anyone with any label at all" - what?

WarriorN · 27/04/2021 10:55

But who knows?

It's mushing a load of people together under a rainbow who really don't have much in common in terms of everyday life.

Nodal · 27/04/2021 10:56

But intersex is a medical condition, not a sexuality. Idiots. Mind you, neither is trans.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/04/2021 10:57

Quite glorious! And yes, many of the posts I saw appeared to be from lesbians and gay men, so your concerns are unfounded Mishy, and I'm sure you wouldn't wish to stop LGB people having their say even if you disagree with them.

The few dissenters calling women misogynistic slurs appear to be bandwagon jumping men? Not many lesbians.

WarriorN · 27/04/2021 11:03

Not surprised stonewall don't want comments on this line up Hmm

"Alan Turing died for your sins, Gary" is winning for me.

They have scheduled the Pride event for 9/11 on the 20th anniversary too so their PR department are doing really well.

Those corporate sponsors are Envy (not envy)

MoltenLasagne · 27/04/2021 11:14

I'm a bisexual woman in a heterosexual relationship and yet according to Pride in London and Stonewall, Lesbian Visibility Week should include me, gay men, and I presume also those hilarious men who like to make jokes about being male lesbians... Hmm

Couchbettato · 27/04/2021 11:21

I'm so glad to see this other than on Mumsnet. Not your usual dialogue for Facebook.

risefromyourgrave · 27/04/2021 11:58

Those comments do my heart good!

OhHolyJesus · 27/04/2021 12:24

By contrast the LGB Alliance know what a lesbian is, their tweets are so reassuring...calm and measured and positive but not afraid to exclude others because it's ok to focus on one group at a time, and especially ok to do it for one bloody day or week of the year when it's just about lesbians.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 27/04/2021 12:27

I read the archived version - so good to see!

SmokedDuck · 27/04/2021 12:45

Interesting the post under that about the LBG Alliance also seems to have many of the negative comments intact.

I wonder a bit about what is going on in their minds. This seems like it could have been an easy win for them, and they must know they are under scrutiny on this. To me it seems like they actually can't wrap their heads around what has gone wrong.

Shedbuilder · 27/04/2021 13:18

@MishyJDI

It's just a pile on by haters of queer and lesbian people masquerading as supporters. Pure bigotry in display and the usual lies about lesbians being erased and being forced to accept other queer folk as sexual partners. A load of the usual gumpf.

These pile ons just help out organisations such as London Pride to demonstrate the hatred in some sections of the community that sadly still exist for other human beings. Very sad indeed.

But hey, when did that ever stop the keyboard warriors?

These are the kind of people

twitter.com/zoeyfishbish/status/1386755020348174341

that lesbians are protesting about. Just look at the way being lesbian is fetishised. A lesbian is a same-sex attracted adult human female, nothing more or less.

Helleofabore · 27/04/2021 13:32

Right. So, the lesbians commenting are not to be listened to in discussing their needs and aspirations. Would you say that they are not 'real' lesbians, or just 'not the right sort' of lesbian for you to take notice of then?

Got it.

JustcameoutGC · 27/04/2021 13:46

I am so glad to see the lesbians roar. It was the growing TRA view that lesbians can have a penis, and that if a lesbian rejects a partner on the basis of being a penis owner then they would be a bigot, that really made me turn from trans-ally to being more critical of the movement.

It was the turning point that made me really see that we are not being asked nicely to move over and make room, we are being told to capitulate at all times and in all circumstances. It just another attempt by the patriarchy to squash womens' rights.

For time immemorial lesbians have been told that all they needed was a bit of cock to sort them out. And look, here it is, just in a different wrapper.

It is so so sinister and degrading and dehumanising, I cannot see how anyone could ever accept it as reasonable position - never mind dressing it up as an argument for equality.

Shedbuilder · 27/04/2021 14:13

26 years ago my girlfriend and I moved into our new home. One of the removal company employees volunteered to help us out with some dick if we fancied it. That evening we were sitting in the new garden with a bottle of wine, quietly chatting, when our next door neighbour (male) introduced himself over the garden fence and said he'd been listening to us talk, we were obviously an item and if we ever fancied a threesome he'd be happy to help.

Lesbians have always been targeted like this and till relatively recently most ordinary people would recognise it for what it is — sexually predatory men and their fantasies — and called it out and supported us. Now we've got a significant percentage of young lesbians, 'be kind' people of all varieties, women's organisations and woke blokes who call us as transphobic haters for saying no. And still they deny being homophobic!

SapphosRock · 27/04/2021 14:31

Oh this has really cheered me up! The comments are excellent Star
