LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

Wow, fastest (and one of the most baffling) deletions ever. The monitors are angry and are watching closely, it seems.

R0wantrees · 21/04/2021 09:27

@Terranean

So good to learn the news! And to see the level of support and integrity here from all that are celebrating that a group catering for those same sex attracted.

This is a population that is based on sexual orientation of a kind denied by Stonewall, who is confusing sex and gender on a daily rate. Very please the LGBA can provide this very much needed service.

I cannot see why anyone is opposed to this unless they are homophobic.

All the best for the future FlowersCakeWine

This ^^
Erkrie · 21/04/2021 09:27

It definitely does raise serious questions that need investigating. Some of the things these charities are accusing others of, they are actually doing themselves.

Scepticaltank · 21/04/2021 09:27

Its great news. I heard Bev speak at a Labour women meeting in Feb 2020 which seems like a very long time ago. She was very impressive.

I will be donating again.

The virtriol against those supporting this news today just goes to show how necessary the LGB alliance is. Expressing the perfectly valid statement that I am definitely straight (and, as an adult humna female, would therefore choose to only have sex with biological men) is neither homophobic nor transphobic. I do not hate anyone, I simply reserve the right to define my sexual preferances and boundaries as I choose. To draw a parallel between that and the nazis is just well, a bit desperate Confused

I hope the LGB are very successful in their endeavours and I shall be setting up a direct debit Smile

Wow I was actually reading the thread on the app and was halfway through a post when it was deleted.

Never seen that before especially when the post had only been made 2 minutes earlier.

I think the mods have had their weetabix this morning Grin

Waves to mods 👋

Out of interest @ASugarr* (and feel
Free not to answer - you don't owe me or anyone here an answer) but in what way are you a part of the LGB community, and are you trans*

I 'think' they're just really wanting to get noticed on twitter going on past posts.

R0wantrees · 21/04/2021 09:48

Bev Jackson
"There are LGB Alliance groups in several countries, with new groups on the way in many more... LGB Alliance Australia and Ireland are continuing to grab media attention, and the US group is working with other groups to educate the public on the devastating impact of the recent Executive Order prioritising gender identity over biological sex.

A furious row is going on in Scotland over the Hate Crime Bill. LGB Alliance Scotland is staunchly supporting women’s groups such as For Women Scotland in their battle to preserve the definition of “woman” and expressed outrage at the sacking from the front bench of SMP MP Joanna Cherry, a strong advocate for women’s and LGB rights.

For more on what all of the groups are up to indifferent countries (and languages), follow them on Twitter:

I am even more chuffed now that I know I am getting a wonderful, cruelty free, soft and downy item of artisanal clothing.

And not the yak hair beards that I saw in my search. Envy (not envy!)

Let's not bring weetabix into it, it's getting hot enough in here as is...
Datun · 21/04/2021 09:55

@Ereshkigalangcleg

No I don't see how stating the fact trans women are women changes that.

It's not a fact, it's your belief.

Indeed.

And of course lesbians, gay men and bisexual people want to protect the integrity of their sexual orientation and the language they use for themselves. Those who so angrily oppose it really are completely caught up in their ideology.

Stonewall even claim that the word homosexual is an outdated medical term! Good luck explaining what homophobia is based on then.

And it's brilliant the LGBA have continued to offer to talk with the likes of Stonewall. Their refusal speaks volumes.

Update: There (unsurprisingly) are no death threats by Mumsnetters under Mr Hackett's tweet for the Charity Commission to witness as 'proof' of Mr Hackett's spurious smears and false accusations against LGB Alliance.

Akire · 21/04/2021 10:05

Just tried google to donate to the cause. First came across search result for pink news saying It’s transphobic anti Trans.

How can they get away with saying that with no consequences? I mean a cat charity could by called anti dog but that’s not really the point nor aim

Sophoclesthefox · 21/04/2021 10:05

Well, I know more about yak down than I did when I got up this morning. Always an education here Grin

I’m very glad never to have seen any death threats from GC feminists, they seem to be as rare as I now know yak’s down to be, so that’s fantastic.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/04/2021 10:05

Ooh! And the now perma anned Evarish post wishing us all dead is included in there too Smile

I honestly don't understand why he would say come and look at all these death threats, knowing there aren't any.

However many times you do that, it's never, not even once, going to be in your favour.

R0wantrees · 21/04/2021 10:20

Some people are uninhibited from making even the most outrageous of false allegations and smears.
Part of the issue is that whatever cloak they claim as protection means they are not held to the same standards as others or accountable for the harm done.

As women I think we're used to being scrutinised and questioned on what we say. Because we've always had to prove ourselves, we don't tend to make wild assertions without evidence to back them up because we know we would be called silly or hysterical or uninformed. Men have not been subject to the same scrutiny. Men (particularly white men) who hold positions of power and authority have the confidence bestowed by male privilege of knowing that when they present a statement of fact, a significant number of people will take it at face value, especially if it suits them to do so.
