@daisypond Yes, they did. The WW2 was about defeating......fascism.

What do you suppose Antifa means?

merrymouse · 14/03/2021 08:09
**@RRRRwuff* Originally antifa had nothing to do with left vs right. It was about defeating Hitler and his fascist regime, hence the antifascist* part. England, America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc were all part of the antifa (antifascist) war to defeat Hitler in WW2.

That is where antifa was born.
It’s not an organisation.

Anyone can buy wear black and claim to be antifa. For some it’s just an excuse for a fight and plenty of men have used it as an excuse to intimidate and attack women.

blowinahoolie · 14/03/2021 08:11

Met Police embarrassing themselves not just with the case itself, but now this.

I know what Antifa means! But Antifascism in WW2 is not the same as Antifa at all.

Onlinedilema · 14/03/2021 08:18

Good on them.

What an inspirational woman Patsy Stevenson is, asking that attention is focused away from the police and back to the original problem. Calling for meeting up at 5pm tomorrow at Parliament Square.

I've not read it myself yet but here's the Sunday Times lead story

@PerfectPenquins

Every single twat from sisters uncut should have been removed, they are vile and used Sarah's murdered for an opportunity to demonstrate their violence. They should not have been there. Men should not have been there. The press should have stayed on the edge and not inserted themselves onto the band stand. The idiot with the drums should never have been able to get near. What happened was a disgrace. Anti lockdown chants, acab chants had nothing to do with the awful murder. The day time was the only respectful part. Whilst many there tried to avoid the flowers plenty others didn't care and trampled them to get at the police. Sarahs poor family who will forever have that shit show attached to her name. The terf sign was an absolute disgrace.
I agree. Sisters uncut support male violence.

I feel so much for Sarah’s family. They have lost their daughter and sister, this isn’t a political agenda this is their reality. It is also the reality of many other families throughout the U.K.

There needs to be change, real change.

AnotherLass · 14/03/2021 08:44

I don't find Patsy Stevenson that inspirational, sorry. I think that it is really appalling to try to appropriate a woman's murder to talk about how "transwomen are women", as she did in the interview I saw (it was the first thing she said).

Cwenthryth · 14/03/2021 08:47

How is it inspirational to continue to encourage people to behave irresponsibly and illegally during the pandemic. Why Parliament square at 5pm tomorrow? When Parliament is debating & voting on the police & crime bill? How on earth is that going to deflect attention away from the policing issue?!? It will just perpetuate the story. I have no doubt that Parliament square will be full of protestors tomorrow but their focus will not be Sarah or VAWG and adding to their numbers does not help our cause.

AnyOldPrion · 14/03/2021 08:48

Not feeling inspired, fiorun. This was meant to be a vigil, not a protest and her interview last night had some very dubious content.

PerfectPenquins · 14/03/2021 08:49

In what way is Patsy inspiring? A member of sisters uncut, first words TWAW and of course not forgetting the NAMALT. Sisters uncut went there to be trouble, its clear from many accounts of last night they just took over the vigil and turned it into the mess it ended in. Why is it the ones claiming to be so anti fascist are the most fascist and violent people there.

WarriorN · 14/03/2021 08:51

Just what I was thinking perfect.

UppityPuppity · 14/03/2021 08:52

Good piece from The Times - thank you for posting

Never heard of Sisters Uncut - although I was aware of the assault of MM and the insistence of the judge for MM to use incorrect language regarding the sex of her attacker - in a court of law I’m sure there is a word for that beginning with the letter p

Regarding their ‘all women’ inc TW stance - it may actually serve to make more women aware of what is going on.

The killer didn’t care whether Sarah either had a gender identity or if so, whether it was consistent with corrosive sexist stereotypes - the killer only cared that she was a woman.

She was murdered because she was female. End of.

Mentioning TW highlights that everyone knows the difference.

WarriorN · 14/03/2021 08:52

Patsy's interview

Totally agree. I don't find her inspiring at all.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 14/03/2021 08:55

Patsy is a student at Royal Holloway which rose 74 places in the Stonewall index. You never have to look too far....

dragonsmoke · 14/03/2021 08:59

Absolutely shameful behaviour by the police. This is so disappointing.

Whenthesunshines · 14/03/2021 09:00

Two things from Patsy from that interview:
Quote ‘It’s not all men, we know that’ (Yes I’ll give you that)
and ‘Rally the troops’.
Look at her facial expressions.
She’s loving it 😒

highame · 14/03/2021 09:00

Last night I saw all the usual suspects come out to condemn the police and to support women's right to safe streets. They were Kier Starmer, Ed Davy and Caroline Noakes whose view of women includes not being able to define a woman Confused. Now the hi-jack of the kidnapping of the death of a young woman.

If this becomes a TWAW argument, then you can forget about safe streets, the argument will be lost because the public at large do not agree that TWAW. All the money raised will go towards a Stonewall agenda.

London women need to get out there during the day without any formal organisation so as not to alert those who would piggy back such a sad situation. Sisters uncut do not speak for me. They are always so quick to get in front, before we've even turned round

I hope many more women will fill in the survey on Violence against women, this will have a great impact I hope. They apparently had some 20,000 extra responses last night

AnyOldPrion · 14/03/2021 09:00

Also an actor.

www.castingnow.co.uk/patsy-stevenson

Do we know she’s a member of Misters Uncut, or is that speculation?

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 14/03/2021 09:02

@merrymouse

Perhaps her family, who have said they didn't want her name and photo used, asked them not to "approve' it.

Maybe this is the bit of information else are missing?

It may be the case. But it wouldn't be for the family to decide how best to maintain public order. It's for the police to assess the risks and minimise the potential for something like this to happen. The hijacking of the event and the over-reaction of the police is the end point in a series of missteps.

This is what Priti Patel and the Conservatives are currently pushing through though - legislation designed to enable police to crack down on peaceful protests. That's what needs to be stopped.

This is what Sisters Uncut were doing. They turned it into an anti-police protest. They were not there to hold vigil for Sarah. In fact their actions and speeches, according to a journalist present, may indeed potentially jeopardise bringing her alleged killer to justice, there is a reason the media is glossing over what the women in the bandstand were actually saying.

Their feed this morning is all about protesting the police tomorrow. Not about Sarah at all.

Btw I observe that Patsy was clearly free and de-arrested very quickly, to be making videos so soon.

Cuntysnark · 14/03/2021 09:05

Janice Turner is in Times radio in the next hour talking about this. She’s a good ‘un.
