Well there it is:

"The investigation found a lack of adequate transparency around meetings, and funding for the APPG, whose coordinator’s salary was paid for with contributions from external organisations including Stonewall and the Kaleidoscope Trust."

"Publishing the document and making it open to public debate while the government was still considering its response “would have undermined our political strategy”."

PopperUppleton · 07/03/2021 11:58

Good grief. Although on reflection, I'm not exactly surprised

Biscuitsanddoombar · 07/03/2021 11:59

Well colour me shocked!!

He really is an arse. I do wonder why he’s do vehement in his arsery over this though

Whatwouldscullydo · 07/03/2021 12:01

Not surprised really.

OhHolyJesus · 07/03/2021 12:02

Was just coming to post this! Great to see this.

Can members of HoL be made to apologise for accusing people of being funded by the far right when they are actually funded by Oxford University?

Biscuitsanddoombar · 07/03/2021 12:02

The officers of the APP include baroness barker & Michael cashman. My shock increases

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 07/03/2021 12:03

Nice list of wealthy white men (and the Baroness 🙄) attempting to undermine women's rights by stealth:

The APPG’s Officers are Crispin Blunt MP, Baroness Barker, Lord Cashman, Peter Kyle MP, Stewart McDonald MP and Lord Collins

Maduixa · 07/03/2021 12:07

Good. It's about time that arseholes who do not belong to a group are called out for demanding things in the name of that group that the group does not want. Crispin Blunt is a full-on misogynist AND an anti-trans campaigner, but he's an MP until the next election. The only way to neutralise him is to keep calling him out publically on his rampant misogyny, transphobia, and homophobia,

OvaHere · 07/03/2021 12:11

This way of doing things is all straight out of the Denton's playbook. Unfortunately they have been successful in some other countries.

Sticking to the Dentons Handbook there I see.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 07/03/2021 12:15

That's quite something. There really needs to be a wider enquiry.

The coordinator of the group, who is employed by the Kaleidoscope Trust, responded to further questions saying her understanding was that rules on transparency only apply to reports “prepared with the intention of being public”.

I'm not hugely knowledgeable on the law or parliamentary process but this really reads like that they're openly saying that they weren't transparent because they never intended for for the public to find out about it.

RozWatching · 07/03/2021 12:15

Good, but what about the rest of them?

The APPG seems to have limited its focus on only those LGBT people who support gender identity ideology.

Actual lol - can they not hear themselves. They may as well say “if the paper’s suggestions were published, they not be widely supported by the general public and would not stand up to scrutiny or debate”.

AnyOldPrion · 07/03/2021 12:19

Glad to see this and hope it gains some publicity. This technique of writing your wish-list ahead of the game and then expecting to have it taken up without question, ignoring all potential fall-out for other groups needs to be exposed and stopped.

That there was

an assumption that their chosen policies would be adopted

as opposed to

a reasonable expectation that their arguments would be taken into account

was so very obvious from Blunt’s attitude after the event. These people seem unable (or worse, don’t consider there’s any reason) to hide their arrogant attitudes over this and that arrogance needs to be addressed.

Shock
Shedbuilder · 07/03/2021 12:29

What is it that's motivating Crispin Blunt? He seems a very unlikely trans ally.

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 07/03/2021 12:30

Misogyny?

Newstead said: "I do not know what motivated my executive colleagues but I suspect that Crispin has been the author of his own misfortune. There is no doubt in my mind that his very public and totally unnecessary announcement that he was 'gay' was the final straw for some members, particularly those in the north of the borough, with whom there had been a number of previous disagreements on policy matters... A number of lady members were very offended by the manner in which his marriage broke down. Apparently Victoria's version was very different from Crispin's".

Victoria is Crispin's wife (they are still married but separated)

Thanks for sharing this OP. A very important issue and a clear example of policy capture. I've signed the petition

gardenbird48 · 07/03/2021 12:37

The Standards Commissioner also pulled up the group for rebranding the APPG “portcullis” logo with rainbow stripes. She ordered that it should be changed back to the standard black and white symbol used by all other APPGs.

oops!!

Thanks for this

but said GIDS should be exempt from litigation

This is rather telling. It's finally dawned on them that there will be a tidal wave of litigation at some point.

334bu · 07/03/2021 12:54

Find it interesting that this group advocating for medical intervention for minors as Mr Blunt seems to understand that we shouldn't treat young criminals as adults. Cognitive dissonance?

I am so, so delighted, I can't believe this. This is the best news ever (except for all the other pieces of good news we've had recently)

In my submission to the Government Equalities Office, I wrote a great long list of why the Office was unfit for purpose and could not be trusted to look out for women's rights. Government departments did not appear to be acting within the standards by which government officials must adhere

I also strongly criticised Crispin Blunt and Caroline Noakes for their treatment of women who held GC views and felt their actions undermined trust in the principles of Standards in Public Life.

I also copied the piece to Liz Truss and my MP
