So another brand proves that they’re not keen on women having thoughts

Found this interesting blog about mimmymum. It references flora and the part mimmymum initially played in trying to boycott them herself.

@ArabellaScott

I googled Stormfront, this is off of wiki:

'Stormfront is a white nationalist, white supremacist, antisemitic, Holocaust denial, and Neo-Nazi Internet forum, and the Web's first major racial hate site. In addition to its promotion of Holocaust denial, Stormfront has increasingly become active in the propagation of Islamophobia'

Equating Mumsnet with white supremacy and Holocaust denial. That is a reprehensible & libellous accusation.

Yikes!

(I'm going to change my name now, mainly because I don't want to be associated with with Susie Green.)

GawdINeededAShowerAfterThat2 · 31/01/2021 10:52

That's better..

BaronessWrongCrowd · 31/01/2021 11:03

It is reprehensible, Arabella. I'm choosing to laugh at it because it's pathetic and they have nothing else.

rabbitwoman · 31/01/2021 11:04

Very confusing - there is a chain of shops that sell apple products called stormfront. We have one where I live on the High Street - they didn't give much thought to their name, did they?

AbsintheFriends · 31/01/2021 11:04

I've been aware of Helen Islan for years but have never actually seen her. I always picture her as a stout little body in a twinset and pearls with one of those helmets of concrete-set hair and a handbag over her arm. Sort of like a short, solid, pastel version of Margaret Thatcher.

It's her prim little twitter name that does it, I guess, and the pink rose avatar. Oh, and the sugar-coated venom in her tweets. She has a fondness for exclamation marks, which I always read as the classic 'tinkly laugh'.

Disclaimer: just what I imagine, of course. Not saying this is what she's really like.

It's also a meteorological term meaning there is a storm coming.

Yes there is a storm coming, a massive storm and I suspect that Mumsnet is part of the vanguard.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6764763/Britains-transgender-hate-crime-trial-halted-one-day.html

In real life, of course, Helen is the woman who took transwoman Miranda Yardley to court, and lost. (The judge threw out the case and awarded costs to the defendant.)

Calling a site like Mumsnet, that does so much to help women escape domestic violence, that holds politicians to account, that runs campaigns that have helped to protect women from being murdered, that supports, informs and consoles women in all life stages, through so many difficult issues - miscarriage, menopause, infertility, bereavement, parenting, relationship issues, mental health issues, 'stormfront' is callous, tone-deaf and cruel in the extreme.

It is sort of laughable, I get that - it's also unacceptable.

MichelleofzeResistance · 31/01/2021 11:25

Is that (another ) shark jumped there? Grin

The problem with dramatic hyperbole, as even my teen is starting to figure out, is that past a certain point it just makes people laugh.

Beamur · 31/01/2021 11:32

Can MN report this to the Police?
Maybe she needs to check her thinking? (Head tilt)

AbsintheFriends · 31/01/2021 11:34

Thanks for the link Arabella.

Great photo of Miranda.

McDuffy · 31/01/2021 12:21

I was radicalised by mumsnet. Brought a few more on the good ship feminism in real life because of it, too Grin and my trigger was ocado, back in 2018. I was their most loyal customer, even on their tasting/testing panel. Sainsbury's have done well out of me since then

OvaHere · 31/01/2021 12:38

We have one of those locally. I've always thought it to be a very odd choice. Even stranger that nobody seems to have taken them to task over it or at least not in a visibly public way.

I always imagine their board of directors monitoring twitter obsessively and reporting back 'Phew, we've survived another week of nobody pointing out we share the same name as Neo nazis'.

HermioneWeasley · 31/01/2021 12:42

I have seen Mimmymum in real life. She looks like any other middle aged middle class mum. Evil is so banal.

Cailleach1 · 31/01/2021 12:54

There are people in the world who are just batshit and who, for whatever reason, deny reality. Some deny things like climate change. Some deny the value of vaccinations and therapeutic medicines. Some deny things like biological sex.

In fairness, some do visit mumsnet and voice their particular delusion.

boatyardblues · 31/01/2021 13:02

@ProseccoStormfront2

I hate bloody prosecco, headache in a bottle.

Very accurate description.

Headache and heartburn
Redsquareoctopus · 31/01/2021 13:31

Personally, I think that MM has social communication difficulties and possibly some kind of personality disorder. I have been observing her behaviour and interactions for a few years and it’s becoming clearer and clearer. I am trying to use this knowledge to view her with compassion.

PotholeParadies · 31/01/2021 13:45

HettieMillia that blog is fascinating. On a sidenote, from the snapshots, it seems she's been trying to popularise Prosecco Stormfront for a long time.

OvaHere Grin That is a delightful image. Poor things.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2021 14:23

If that's the case, Redsquare, then perhaps someone could let her know that slinging libel and insults at people isn't going to solve any of her problems.

Redsquareoctopus · 31/01/2021 17:08

@ArabellaScott note the word ‘trying’ Smile

I don’t think she had the capacity to understand someone else’s point of view or the ability to empathise with anyone who doesn’t follow ‘the rules’ to the letter.

She has admitted that she didn’t have any friends at school and from what I can see online, her business has failed, she then lost her job, her husband left, she’s on the local authority housing list. In addition, she is on Twitter all day and evenings so her relationships with her children must affected. She has invested all her anger into an identity.

I feel sorry Sad

NotFabulousDarling · 31/01/2021 18:05

I was at the supermarket today. I took a long look at the smoothies after seeing the AIBU thread about Innocent. I decided to buy some fruit instead. Innocent Smoothies are missing one vital point: Flora is an essential food product (one brand amongst many) that it's hard to make a vegan version of at home. Innocent are a convenience. And one which I no longer wish to support.

PotholeParadies · 31/01/2021 18:21

Vitalite tastes better than Flora, imo, and they were vegan first.

Granose (is that still around?) and Pure were around before Vitalite, of course.

Beetlewing · 31/01/2021 18:38

@OvaHere

Why on earth don't they just ignore those tweets? There's no law that says they have to respond to every random that @'s them. Most of these brands certainly have no issue ignoring women after all.
I work in Social Media and this is exactly the line you should take. Do not get drawn into petty squabbles. Ignore and ignore. I'm wondering who on earth is doing the socials for Innocent?
AfternoonToffee · 31/01/2021 18:51

Vitalite used to do the best tubs. Had good lids. Made a paper mache bowl from one many years ago.

I don't drink smoothies, but as others have said, just say nothing, keep out of it.
