www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/01/20/executive-order-preventing-and-combating-discrimination-on-basis-of-gender-identity-or-sexual-orientation/

“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports."

Biden just passed all the worst parts of the Equality Act by executive order (so without going through any legislation at all). It is limited in effect to agencies (I think) but those agencies include the Bureau of Prisons, Dept of Housing and Urban Development, Dept of Education, Dept of Labor etc

This will of course be unchallenged, even welcomed by the media. It will likely have a knock on effect around the world.

And I am so angry. So so angry. He was never the ‘least worst option’ he is the absolute worst option.

I can't say I'm surprised that this is being celebrated by the male supremacists among us. This is a decision made solely for men's benefit.

Quite.

I suspect the lesbian and bisexual women who now know discrimination against them will be taken seriously in the US will disagree.
yourhairiswinterfire · 22/01/2021 15:15

Im sorry, but you sound confused - when people are saying that men can have abortion rights, they mean trans men - (as in born female) and are trans men.

It's not us that's confused. If everything moves to gender, there'll be no ''born men'' or ''born women'' just the ''male gender'', which will mean that ''men'' get pregnant too.

A woman lost a discrimination case because ''men can breastfeed too''. Not transmen- men. That's where this lunacy gets us.

Tanith · 22/01/2021 15:17

Quaagars Are you saying that trans women are trans women, then? I thought that was supposed to be transphobic. I'm sure I've seen people demanding for the belief that "trans women are women" to be universally adopted.

PlantMam · 22/01/2021 15:19

Born men cannot give birth, why do you seem to think that they want the right to have an abortion too?

If you rewrite the law to say men (meaning transmen but TMAM) can have abortions too, how do you hold the line and prevent men aborting ‘their’ foetuses, when the foetus is inside a woman?

Flippin · 22/01/2021 15:27

Hahaha about “sound confused”. There are no “born male” or “born female”, birth certificates show whatever one wants to show in that “document”, not anything “born”. This is the logic of twaw and gra. You are welcome

Yes. I'm not sure why some people struggle to grasp this so much. And all to avoid the reality of biological sex.

Quaagars · 22/01/2021 15:30

Never said it did.
I was just saying trans men can get pregnant, and have abortion rights too, poster seemed to think that people who were born male could get pregnant too so was commenting on that.

Quaagars · 22/01/2021 15:32

And all to avoid the reality of biological sex.

Where I've done that? As you can see from my posts I'm not denying biology or avoiding it at all.

OvaHere · 22/01/2021 15:34

Only if you acknowledge they are female which is massively frowned upon because if you admit trans men are female then you have to also admit trans women are male. Trans rights activists do not want to admit that because it messes with the current narrative around prisons and sports etc...

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 22/01/2021 15:37

you'll all be shocked to know the Guardian is thrilled

And yet the Guardian's headline is Joe Biden's gender discrimination order offers hope for young trans athletes

That's a bit defeatist, isn't it? It's not offering hope so much as guaranteed success, when people who have gone through male puberty compete against people who haven't.

So come on Guardian, I think you can openly celebrate a guaranteed bright future for any young lad who may realise he's actually a lady.

OvaHere · 22/01/2021 15:41

Let me guess, no comments allow?

Stop the world, I want to get off! I can't tell what's parody or serious anymore.

''Get your own sport.''

We had our own sports, fucking Einstein, it was called 'women's sports', until the males decided to take it away.

It's the usual stuff - 'we're having this now, it's not for you any more'.

I didn't have much time for bullies at school, I don't now.

Oh good grief. The man hasn't even been in office 24 hours and yet already you lot are picking him apart. Give him a chance at least!
No we don’t need to give him a chance! This situation needs to be discussed and sorted out ASAP.

"One of the simple enduring images of the day: Kamala Harris’s hair blowing in the wind as she took the oath. No one with longer hair (in other words: a woman) has ever taken the oath of office outside at the Capitol before, because she’s the first woman to ever do it"

Seeing stuff like that from The Atlantic journalist and then ACLU celebrating a 10 year old 'trans child'...
mobile.twitter.com/JuliaDRobertson/status/1351318813653000193
...without any criticism of the mother's homophobia, all I can think is how right Janice Raymond was. It's all about stereotypes and policing 'gender' roles. So depressing.

"She predicted that the handful of gender identity clinics treating adult transsexuals – the first of which opened in 1967 – would become what she calls ‘sex role control centers’ for so-called deviant female and male children. “Such gender identity centers are already being used for the treatment of designated child transsexuals,” she wrote, before arguing that these centres would proliferate.

There are now at least 40 such clinics treating children’s ‘gender dysphoria’ in the United States, and in England there are seven treating adults, and only one at present that specialises in under 18s, but with calls for more. This is in spite of concerns about the effects that such treatment might have on individuals legally considered too young to make most major life decisions.

In 1979, the word gender was understood to be separate from the word sex. Sex was what defined a person biologically; gender was understood to mean the sex-appropriate behaviour that was socially constructed. Today, gender has replaced the word sex in common parlance, as if gender itself were biological.

Raymond foresaw this shift. “As I saw it then and see it now, transsexualism goes to the question of what gender is, how to challenge it, and what reinforces gender stereotyping in a role-defined society,” wrote Raymond in her preface to the 1994 reprint of TTE. When I interviewed her recently for this article, she added that “only feminism can challenge the idea of the ‘male’ and ‘female’ brain and notions of ‘masculinity’ and ‘femininity’ being innate”.

The more open the male supremacy stuff gets, the more screen shots, the better.

Lets be honest about what's happening here, and lets hear Biden and many many others in both countries explain why they're setting up their countries for male supremacism. And why this is a good thing. And why the female half of the population should vote for it.

Also very helpful to expose that those pushing 'sex is complicated' 'sex is a spectrum' and 'some men have vaginas' also insist that sex exists and matters sometimes. (When it suits their agenda.)

No consistent logic anywhere. Now what do women know, generally, as a class, about people who constantly change rules with the clear aim that they're in charge and no one ever really knows what's going on or what the rules are?

Livinginthecity · 22/01/2021 16:33

Official research says: "testosterone treatment in transgender women rarely reduces body muscle levels even after a year," so competing in women's sport gives them the advantage. Aside from that, would you like your daughter to wrestle with a dude who might injure her severely?

zzizzer · 22/01/2021 16:38

"Get your own sports"

We already had them. And if we did again, you'd bloody try and take over because some needy little creeps can't cope with women having anything that isn't open to men too.

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/01/2021 16:42

women having anything that isn't open to men too.

I agree with you, but would suggest I see no evidence of desire to share in. Own, dominate, control, yes. Not share in.

There is zero respect for women anywhere.
